Chapter 1967: Max vs Four Sacred Clan Heads!
Chapter 1967: Max vs Four Sacred Clan Heads!
The black dragon launched forward.
His massive wings tore through the air with enough force to stir up a storm across the entire arena. Black chaotic flames burned between his scales, and the starry light of the Dimensional Keeper legacy wrapped around one of his claws like a weapon forged from sealed worlds.
The five Divine Veins burned inside his dragon body, each one magnified by the enormous true-dragon form, and the Tier 4 Primordial Bloodline sat above everything like an ancient source pulling him closer to the laws of the world.
The first sealing formation came down from Valerius. A white-gold sun appeared above the arena, and from that sun came countless sacred chains, each one wrapped in burning light. They didn’t simply fall toward Max.
They tried to define him as guilty, brand his bloodline as sinful, and force his dragon body under the judgment of the Four Sacred Clans.
Max roared. Black dragon flames burst from his mouth and collided with the golden chains.
Boom!
The whole sky above the arena exploded in black and white-gold light. The golden chains burned through the dragon flames and kept descending, but their speed dropped sharply.
Max’s enormous claw swept upward, and the starry Dimensional Keeper light around it smashed into the first cluster of chains. Dozens of chains shattered instantly, their fragments falling like broken sunlight across the battlefield.
But the Valerius leader didn’t move. His eyes only turned colder.
"His attacks are fierce," he said, "but his realm is still too low."
The truth in those words showed itself in the next breath. Even though Max shattered dozens of chains, the white-gold sun above him didn’t collapse. The Valerius leader stood far above Max in cultivation, and that gap wasn’t something bloodline and talent alone could erase. Max’s dragon form made him terrifyingly durable.
His Tier 4 Primordial Bloodline gave him ten times his normal strength. His five Divine Veins, especially the Vein of Resilience, made his defense almost monstrous. Yet when his attack hit the full formation controlled by a sacred clan head, it could only break part of it, not destroy its source.
Then Ashbourne’s formation arrived. A crimson-black mountain of blood iron dropped from the sky, covered in battle runes and ancient killing marks. It crashed straight onto Max’s back, trying to pin his dragon body to the arena floor.
Boom!
The arena sank. Cracks spread out in every direction. Many descendants from the Four Sacred Clans cried out as the shockwave slammed into the protective barriers around the platforms.
Max’s dragon body bent slightly under the enormous weight, but it didn’t break. His scales shone with black-gold light, and the Vein of Resilience erupted with terrifying defensive power.
The blood-iron mountain pressed down with the might of a sacred clan head, but Max’s body held. His bones didn’t shatter. His wings didn’t snap. His organs didn’t burst. The force poured into his body, only to be resisted by the combined durability of his dragon form, his fifth Divine Vein, and the stabilizing power of the Primordial Bloodline.
The Ashbourne leader’s pupils contracted. "He endured it?"
Max twisted his massive body and slammed his tail against the crimson-black mountain. The impact sent cracks across its lower half, but the mountain didn’t fully break.
It trembled, shifted, and kept pressing down. Max’s attack was powerful enough to stun every younger genius present, but against the deeper formation of Ashbourne’s clan head, it still wasn’t enough to fully throw off the suppression.
The gap in cultivation was too wide. Max understood this instantly.
’Their attacks can’t easily hurt me, but my attacks can’t easily destroy their foundations either.’
That was the problem. Their attacks bounced off him because his defensive foundation had grown too terrifying. His dragon form was simply too durable to be damaged by anything they threw at him.
On top of that, Max could feel his own abilities reinforcing his dragon body. The Vein of Resilience made it resistant to physical, spiritual, elemental, law-based, sealing, and bloodline attacks.
His Dimension of Soul swallowed any soul interference. His Dimensional Sovereign Body twisted spatial restraints out of shape. His Tier 4 Primordial Bloodline pulled him closer to the laws and made his Pseudo Cosmic Paths stronger than ever.
But the four people attacking him weren’t young geniuses. They were the heads of the Four Sacred Clans. Their cultivation stood far above his, and their command over sacred clan formations gave every attack the weight of ancient inheritance.
Max could resist them, break parts of their seals, and force them to take him seriously, but beating all four outright was a different matter entirely.
The Ravenhart matriarch raised her hand. The world darkened. A shadow feather appeared above Max’s head and dissolved into thousands of silent threads. These threads didn’t go for his scales or flesh.
They slipped into the gaps between perception, thought, and reaction, trying to make his mind hesitate for one breath.
One breath was all the four leaders needed. But Max’s dragon eyes glowed coldly. The Dimension of Soul opened up like an endless inner night, and the shadow threads entered him and vanished.
The Ravenhart matriarch’s voice turned solemn. "His soul defense isn’t normal. Don’t waste subtle attacks on him."
The Evercrest patriarch’s face had already darkened. He raised both hands, and the spatial layers around the battlefield folded inward. Green-silver roots appeared from every direction, but unlike Aelric’s roots, these carried the authority of an entire sacred clan head.
They pierced through folded space and wrapped around Max’s wings, claws, horns, and tail, trying to lock the enormous dragon form in place.
Max tore through the first wave. Then the second. Then the third. But more roots kept coming. And more.
The four leaders had already figured out the problem. Max was too hard to injure. His dragon form was too durable, his bloodline too strange, and his fifth Divine Vein made most direct attacks nearly useless unless they threw overwhelming force at him. Since they couldn’t easily destroy his body, they’d try to seal it instead.
The Valerius sun lowered. The Ashbourne blood-iron mountain expanded. The Ravenhart shadow feather spread across the arena like a dark sky. The Evercrest spatial roots tightened. Four greater seals formed together.
The pressure that came down this time worked completely differently from before. It didn’t try to cut Max, burn him, crush him, or pierce his soul. It tried to deny his movement, suppress his bloodline, lock down his dragon form, and bury him under the combined authority of the Four Sacred Clans.
Max’s wings strained. His claws dug into the arena floor. The abandoned Voidwalker end pulsed violently, but even its reaction couldn’t fully break the seals coming down from all four clan heads.
The Valerius leader spoke coldly. "He’s durable, but durability is useless against eternal imprisonment."
The Ashbourne leader clenched his fist. "Seal the dragon body first. Once he’s back in human form, pulling out the truth will be easier."
Rose struggled below, her eyes red with anger and fear. "You call yourselves sacred clans, yet four clan heads are ganging up on one young cultivator?"
An Evercrest elder looked at her coldly. "Silence. You’ve already caused enough trouble."
Rose’s face went pale from the pressure, but she kept glaring at them.
On the battlefield, Max heard her voice. His dragon eyes turned colder.
The four greater seals tightened. His massive dragon body began sinking inch by inch toward the arena floor.
The younger descendants watched in shock and awe.
None of them had expected Max to hold out this long against the leaders of the Four Sacred Clans. Most people at his realm would have been sealed in the first exchange. Yet Max, in true dragon form, had taken attacks from all four sides, shattered parts of their formations, and forced the clan heads to combine their greater seals.
But now, even he seemed to be getting pushed down.
