Chapter 1728: Gifts

Chapter 1728: Gifts

Aurora prepared the gifts days ago. She just wasn’t in the mental and physical condition to give them earlier.

She never thought her body would break down so much and leave her utterly powerless for such a basic activity.

Feeling the restored injury in her hands, she glanced at Varian with bright eyes before clapping.

"Call Primula and everyone else. I’m missing the cutey. She’s always blaming herself."

Sarah glanced at Varian’s pale face and sensed his condition through their synergy link. Her brows furrowed, then relaxed.

’He tried his best and even got into this state. The best course of action is to accept reality and send away Aurora in the best way we can.’

She forced herself and opened a communication link. "Father, come in. Aurora is fine now."

A few seconds later, a scream rang out and Primula crashed into the garden.

"Aurora! Aurora! Are you alright? Really healed?" Primula hugged Aurora, her eyes brimming with tears as she examined her carefully.

Aurora turned to Sarah who bit her lip. Giving a reassuring nod, she chuckled haughtily. "Of course, who do you think healed me?"

"Of course, it’s brother..." Primula turned to him, only noticing him then. Seeing his exhausted look, she threw herself into his arms.

"Brother, you’re the best! You’re the best! You’re the best!" Her shouts turned into mumbles and mumbles into whispers before they broke into sobs and wails.

"I...I...really...th-thought...it’s all my fault..." Primula choked. "T-Thank...th-thankfully you...b-brother"

Varian patted her as he turned to Sarah and Aurora.

"Hey, scaredy cat! Don’t cry anymore! They’re all looking at you!" Aurora pulled Primula and pinched her cheeks.

Evander, the Matriarch and Hazel also reached the garden. Looking at Aurora’s state, they too assumed she was healed and were elated.

"Wait, wait, wait, don’t speak. No congratulations. No cryings. I’m tired." Aurora put her hands on her hips with a smile as the gifts materialized behind her.

"I’m giving you all gifts on my successful recovery. So stop crying for at least today. You can try tomorrow though."

Varian nodded at Evander and the two maids.

Evander nodded back with some pride. Even though he had a lot of complaints about Varian, he never doubted his capability.

And the two maids...

The Matriarch looked at him gently. While Hazel was starry-eyed, like he was some hero.

Without even thinking, Varian knew she was going to write some trashy story of a domineering knight and a sickly princess. Oh and there is going to be a cute and sexy maid in the story too for some reason.

’I would gladly read that sh*t if I really saved Aurora.’ Varian exhaled deeply.

As they all sat down, Aurora clapped her hands. "The first gift. It goes to the most important, nicest and kindest person."

The wives weren’t curious, for they knew this all a facade. Evander didn’t really care about gifts. But Primula and the maids did.

The Matriarch glanced at Hazel with disdain and was ready to receive the prize.

Hazel didn’t even glance at her senior and was ready to stand up. Who else could this be for?

Important? She filled Aurora’s stomach so much that she practically hugged her and said ’Hazel, I can die without regrets.’

Nicest? Wasn’t she super super nice?

Kindest? Woah! That’s her least impressive quality.

"And it goes t—"

"Thank you ever—" Hazel stood up and was about to bow with a not-so-modest smile.

"Primula!"

"Wow!" The girl stood up and patted Hazel lightly with a consoling gaze as she walked to Aurora.

The two looked at each other for a moment they both chuckled and hugged tight.

"As long as you’re back, that’s the best gift!" Primula said, eyes reddening again.

"No, no, don’t spoil my dress!" Aurora pushed her away with a pout and presented her a crystal.

"A recording crystal?" Primula looked at it curiously. With a tap, a 3-D projection started.

———

"Waaah! Waah! I wanshu pway! Bwother! Pway! Pway!" A very young Primula was in a park, face wet with tears and snot.

Hazel was trying to comfort her but the little girl wasn’t listening. Rolling on the ground, she pounded the grass.

"Bwuher! Re...Red Turtee Thweef..."

"Master is busy with work. He’ll definitely play with you once he returns." Hazel tried to coax the child.

"No..." Primula didn’t stop crying.

"Ho! Ho! Ho! I heard the red turtle thief’s accomplice, doctor blue snake has escaped into the lake nearby. To save the galaxy and find the chocolate island, I will find the snake!"

In typical super heroine costume, a wild Aurora appeared. With hands on her hips, she spoke to an imaginary camera and just happened to be face Primula.

The little girl stopped crying and slowly asked. "D-Doctor B-Blue snake?"

"Oh?" Aurora looked shocked as she noticed Primula. Then, with shocked eyes, she stepped back, pointing to the little girl with a shaking finger.

"Y-Y-You fought the red turtle thief, didn’t you? Wow! Can you team up with me against doctor blue snake! Please! You need to help me save the galaxy!"

"And the chocolate island!" Primula added with a serious expression.

"Yes, yes, the chocolate island." Aurora nodded seriously.

"Lets go! After my brother comes back, I’ll take him to the island!"

The two heroines, one adult and one child, walked in the sunset to defeat the evil doctor blue snake.

———

"..." Primula tried to turn off the crystal for the tenth time and failed.

In the end, the recording was finished, with the little girl throwing the skinny snake back into the river because ’it promised to be good’.

Primula pouted at Aurora who rubbed her head with a mischievous expression.

"The next gift is for the sweetest person ever!" Aurora didn’t dare to use more adjectives this time. "Sia!"

Sia took the beautiful yellow flower.

"This is the flower imbued with the power of brother-in-law. It represents his condition."

Even though they had a synergy connection, Sia liked the gift. She could take care of this flower, care for it, water it and touch it.

Sia didn’t know that this was an eternal flower that never wilts.

"So, even if he vanishes for another thousand years. Don’t worry. Take care of the flower and he’ll return just fine!"

Sia nodded.

"Next is for the queen!"

A story book reached Sarah. Even though it looked like a normal book, it contained the stories of hundreds of tales.

And all of them—

"I’ve collected the best tales that later historians wrote a great deal about you and brother-in-law. Especially your academy life!"

Sarah held the book close to her chest.

"Next is for the softest, sweetest one."

A beautiful mirror floated in front of Enigma. "Love yourself more. Enigma, don’t hesitate to ask your family anything. A hug, a kiss or a reassurance."

Enigma trembled lightly and then nodded.

This was a very thoughtful gift.

"Now, my idol, my senior sister!" A large painting descended.

On it was a young Isadora, fighting against a powerful organization on a planet.

Isadora tilted her head.

"You may not remember it. But you gave up a big bounty you worked so hard for at the last minute to save this planet.

It’s the first time I heard about you. And it’s when you became my idol!"

"Not anymore?" Primula chimed in, trying to get her petty revenge.

Aurora was unfazed. "You are my idol then. You are my sister now. Thank you for indulging my whims. Thank you for taking me into your family."

Isadora, who managed to remain calm until now, bit her lip, eyes watering up.

Aurora’s eyes also teared up and she quickly turned to the next gift.

A canvas descended. Aurora casually splashed paint on it and then tore it apart. Another canvas appeared. And again. And again.

"As you can see," Aurora handed it to the Matriarch. "Endless canvas to the most thoughtful woman. Please take care of everyone as you always have."

The Matriarch nodded, smiling without even realizing it.

"And to the old man waiting for his grandchildren forever," Aurora chuckled and a mobile children park appeared. "You’ll be the coolest grandpa!"

"You’re damn right I’ll be!" Evander patted his chest. "I’m preparing for thousands of years already."

Aurora turned to the pouty Hazel and smiled mischievously. "Then, to the cute and lively maid whom we all love to tease but is the best!"

Hazel raised her head in shock.

A thick book appeared in the air.

"The best chef of the world! Here is the cooking compendium for dishes all across Eden! You win our stomachs and hearts!"

Hazel hugged the book to her chest, smiling softly.

Aurora turned to the only person who hadn’t received the gift yet.

Everyone also looked at him and then her.

"Brother-in-law," Aurora looked at Varian with a mischievous gaze, lips curled up. "I don’t have any gift for you. I want a return gift instead."

Varian was focused on fixing his condition. He had to get back as soon as possible and get the shard making method.

He simply didn’t consider this the last day of Aurora. He didn’t want to. So, he wasn’t listening for the most part.

"Brother-in-law!" Aurora shook his shoulders as she called out in a sweet voice.

"Yes?"

She looked at him with pitiful eyes. "Spend a whole day with me. Do nothing else. This is the gift I want."

The request would’ve caused Sia to explode at any other time. But now, she even signaled Varian to quickly accept.

But Varian...

"Aurora," He slowly stood up, weak but fully determined. "One day. I’ll return in one day. Then, I will give you that gift. Please wait one day."

The part he didn’t say out loud but what his wives and Aurora understood was.

’Please survive one day.’

Aurora bit her lip. She had no confidence of lasting that long. She didn’t even think Varian would be able to return so soon.

He’s already such a strong rank 2 and yet, he was so weakened because of her.

She didn’t want him to risk any longer. It hurt her to see him like this.

But what could she do?

"Be back soon~" She said with a carefree smile.
