Chapter 1762 1762: God Emperor vs Architect
Chapter 1762 1762: God Emperor vs Architect
The battle for supremacy began a little over three weeks ago in a place far, far away from Eden, shortly after Varian was defeated.
A giant palm of cosmic proportions emerged, its glow radiating the vast expanse of space.
It looked similar to the palm God Emperor used as a peak rank 2, but this single palm, consisted of millions of such weaker palms, indicating the sheer difference between the two ranks.
Even the former God Emperor who defeated Varian at his strongest wouldn't be able to take 0.0001% of this attack.
0.0001%. A thousandth of a thousandth.
Such was the unimaginable jump between the two ranks.
The scale of mortal ranks was a planet. The scale of a celestial was a star system. For the divine rankers until rank 2, it was a galaxy.
But at rank 3, the scale was the universe itself. There's no traditional limit to the power output.
It's no longer just pouring out aura and attacking. A rank 3 uses the very laws of the universe and uses them as attack.
If they want to use space attacks, the existing space of the universe becomes their weapon and responds.
What's the limit to such space? One galaxy? Ten? A million?
There's no limit.
As long as 'space' exists, they could use it. And space exists everywhere in the universe.
The fights of rank 3, no longer limited by scale, depended entirely on the mastery and application of the laws.
This palm held the power of all three avenues, but its primarily driven by the avenue God Emperor was the most familiar with—space and time.
The counter attack to this was a giant balance scale.
Its main body was constructed from order and chaos, the strings were made from space-time while the life and death were being weighed.
Architect's choice of weapon seemed to be a manifestation of how he viewed his power and the universe.
He's the one who set things in proper balance and would also intervene whenever there's an imbalance.
On the other hand, God Emperor's palm suggested he believed in pushing through all obstacles to achieve his ideal.
One represented the existing state of the universe, of how things were. The other represented the desired state, of how they should be.
These two incompatible manifestations finally clashed.
The whole universe glitched for a moment, all the laws suddenly stretched for a moment before returning to normal.
Nothing seemed to have changed. But everything had.
The stability of the divine laws, upon which the existence of universe was based, was now shaken.
This was the beginning of the end.
With each strike, the laws shook more and more and the string of stability holding the universe finally snapped.
The concept of space was torn.
The concept of time was thrown into a disarray.
These attacks pushed life out of control and death beyond its rules.
Whatever patterns order and chaos followed for the overall stability were fully disrupted.
The palm and scale kept disappearing and appearing, clashing without gap. With each clash, they crossed the distance of thousands of Edens.
There's a great difference between this battle and all other battles, including the one at the peak of rank 2.
When peak rank 2s or any other rank below fought, the intensity of the battle would damage the surroundings.
The higher the rank, the stronger the aura fluctuations and the more the damage.
But there's no aura fluctuations here.
The palm and scale fought in a distant galactic group which was roughly the size of Eden. Not a drop of aura spilled after the battle.
Yet, a cracking sound was heard everywhere across the region.
And then, the very foundational laws of universe began to unravel in this galactic group.
Space torn, time disarrayed, life mutated, death reckless, order in shambles and chaos uncontrolled.
For an onlooker, it seemed as if the group was destroyed by 'natural disasters' and not two people.
If peak rank 2s were strong, a rank 3 was a force was of nature itself, effecting the very core of existence—the divine laws.
The very thing that made up and held the universe were collapsing. And nothing could stop it.
If two peak rank 2s fought, even if they destroyed the whole of Eden, after hundreds of millions of years, Eden could still see life. But when these rank 3s fought, that region was dismantled from its very existence.
There's no possibility of any re-emergence.
The aftermath of these laws unravelling in some regions rippled across the universe.
The dismantling was now happening everywhere, at a much lower pace compared to the clash areas, but it was indeed happening.
There's no safe place left, nowhere to escape.
All of the universe was dying!
Six natural disasters were carrying out this death.
Space was tearing itself.
From one corner of Eden to the other, space glitches happened everywhere.
The chaotic space currents from core and inner space were let loose into the outer space.
A strong and prosperous kingdom, with plenty of celestial rankers was prepared for the chaotic times.
They arranged many formations, set strong celestial guards and prepared enough treasures.
But the space above their capital suddenly cracked open.
They hurriedly deployed their combat forces to fight the audacious enemy. But it's not the attack of any being.
The space just tore and this crack behaved way worse than a black hole.
The defense formations they were proud of were dismantled piece by piece and sucked away.
Roofs of the ancient buildings tore away, walls crumbled and even the foundations of the buildings were ripped out.
Soon, ground itself began to shake. It struggle for a few seconds before the whole planet was devoured.
When the planet was being devoured, not a single person could be seen on it. They couldn't last a few seconds after the crack appeared.
The strong celestials tried their best to run away. But they only made it out of the planet before being pulled in.
Millions upon millions of such space cracks were seen all across Eden. A lot of them were away from population centers.
But the few that happened near people left behind no survivors.
Time was in a disarray.
An ancient floating city inhabited by a mysterious race had strong forecast capabilities. They managed to escape before a space storm opened in their star system.
Now, the whole city was celebrating.
From the mortal levels all the way to the strong rank 6s, they all cheered. They kept cheering and cheering.
Again and again and again.
At some point, some of them realized things were off. But when they tried to control their body, they failed.
They encountered a temporal storm, one that featured a loop.
Every member of the city repeated the same action they did for those 2 seconds, again and again.
Time sped up and they too sped up their actions.
More, more, more, until their bodies could no longer keep up and exploded.
All the residents in the city died. And their blood and flesh were caught up in the temporal storm, withering away.
The magnificent city now was now filled with cracks, collapsed buildings and desolation, as if it wasn't visited for thousands of years.
Life mutated out of control.
A powerful race called Pentonians successfully escaped Eden in their giant spaceships and were looking for their new home.
They were perfectly humanoid, other than a strong and powerful tail. This tail had strong attack and defense capability, with affinity for one of the five natural elements.
With enough time, they could build a new base and were confident of returning to their peak.
They were ready to face this destructive phase for a bright future and were prepared against any disasters.
The disaster arrived without warning.
Their tails began to grow uncontrollably. Instead of the body having a tail, it turned into the tail having a body.
The tails drained their energies, went beyond their control and attacked their own bodies.
Soon, the tails began to tear themselves out of their bodies and walked out on their own.
A powerful race was destroyed by its own racial talent.
Death was reckless.
Tens of thousands of celestial rank 9s gathered in a special city recently build in a small galaxy far away from Eden.
Getting here needed a very hefty sum and only rank 9s were allowed.
Some said that there were a few divine rank 1s overlooking this city. No one knew if it was true until this day.
Until that scream rang out.
"My arm! My arm!"
The power of a mid rank 1 was felt across the city. But more than than the awe at his divine power, they felt the fear in his screams.
The divine ranker flew out of his building, into the sky, as if trying to escape something. But he couldn't escape what's inside him.
"My legs!"
"My heart!"
"Nooo!"
Under the horrified gaze of the citizens, his arms and legs rotted away.
Soon, the god-like being simply dropped dead.
Alongside him, thousands of celestials simply started dying. There was no cause, no logic.
Death just came.
The special city collapsed.
Order was in shambles.
A special mechanical civilization in Nexus uploaded their mind to highly advanced machines and was working with perfect logic to preserve their 'self'.
They've escaped confines of flesh and were able to download their minds into any physical body they constructed.
Since almost a million years, this race remained dominant in their region.
They gathered their best minds to form a 'Super Intelligence' which calculated all the perfect moves for their growth.
If not for the existence of divine rankers who went beyond 'intelligence', this race would've ruled Nexus and perhaps the whole of Eden.
This perfectly logical, supremely intelligence race, which already anticipated and prepared for the battle between Varian and God Emperor was now dying.
In their considered scenarios of extinction, there was possibility of a divine ranker, a huge conspiracy or a terrific virus.
But there's none here.
The very logic that made them work was glitching. Their machines could no longer work. Even the physics grew weird. The very base of the world upon which they build their capability was in shambles.
The worst part was that they were so integrated into the system that they didn't even know something was wrong.
The hyper intelligent race collapsed without even being aware of it.
Chaos was uncontrolled.
Entirely low probabilistic events were all happening at once.
An advanced civilization had colonized their star system and a few more nearby. Since they were spread out enough, they never worried about extinction.
On their main planet today, a very low probability super volcano erupted. Almost in the next second, a mega tsunami struck and then a mega-quake. Finally, their home star also shot up flares, disrupting everything.
In mere minutes, the main planet was in ruins.
The warning bells rang in other planets. But before they could take any measure, the trajectories of the planets went out of orbs—a very low-probability event.
All planets fell into chaos. And a rogue star passed by their star system, disrupting the planets even more.
The multi-planetary civilization was destroyed without the ability to even fight.
Neither the God Emperor nor the Architect aimed for these calamities.
But the sheer power of their attacks was causing this universal breakdown. And even if they were given a break to look around, neither of them would care.
More importantly, neither of them actually wanted a break. Each of them wanted victory at any cost.
"Good must prevail."
God Emperor in silver and golden clothes stood with confidence and conviction.
Facing him was a man in a dress filled with various strange symbols, calculations and scales.
He looked perfectly like a normal human, but there was something about him that felt strange.
Was it the strange gray light he emitted from all around? Was it his eyes that looked so dangerous?
Or was it how every move of his was infused with the power of the highest laws running the universe. And how he operated them with such ease.
At any other time, Architect would be seen as a godly being.
But now now. For he was losing! The creator of the universe was losing!
God Emperor showed no joy at having the upper hand he gained due to an unfair fight.
As he expected, for whatever reason, Architect didn't seem fully 'healthy'. There was a sense of weakness in his actions, a paleness in his 'face'.
It made sense. If he was perfectly fine, why would his awakening happen only after the three slivers were fused?
If he had the chance, Architect would've chosen to recovery fully before dealing with Thoren. Unfortunately for him, God Emperor didn't care about fairness.
He wanted to kill his enemy when he's still weak. And he did get Architect at the weakest he could.
Yet, he was so strong. So strong that God Emperor had to go all out. Thankfully, he had a decisive edge after using the slivers.
"I underestimated you." Architect conceded.
God Emperor raised his palm, preferring to finish him off.
His grand plan was carried out successfully. Now, all he had to do was kill this man. Then, he could finally reshape the universe.
"There is no other choice." Architect raised his hand as well.
Universe hummed and responded.
