Chapter 1017 1017:- Charter of Noble Reinstatement

Alen and Elena continued listening to Aditya's life in the Dying Isle Continent. Both girls took turns in explaining everything briefly. They went through everything from starting to almost every event that led them here.

"I did not expect the organisation leader to be Leo." Alen let out a sigh. He felt kind of depressed for not being able to see through that man. If he had known better, then perphaps this burden wouldn't have fallen on his son.

"You met him?" Aditya asked with a surprised look.

"He is a very well-known and honest merchant. Around a decade back, I happened to meet when I visited that city in which Leo lived."

"Although I found his overly nice personality a bit odd, I did not think much about it." After all, as the Emperor, Alen had a hundred other things to worry about rather than just think about a small merchant. He very quickly forgot about their meeting until Aditya mentioned him again.

From everything, Alen and Elena now knew Aditya's current position and what he wanted.

"I have no interest in the Throne of the Celestial Dragon Empire. But I have many important reasons for wanting to remove Ren from power." Hearing this, Alen let out an audible sigh. But given what they had done to Aditya and the position he had reached on his own, it was normal for him not to want to rule another Empire.

Just thinking about the future of the Celestial Dragon Empire, Alen felt a headache coming. He had already retired. Alen felt that he was not fit to be the Emperor. He had already failed the Empire and, most importantly, his own son. The guilt inside him was so huge that he could never bring himself to sit on that throne again or wear that Crown.

But the problem was, Aditya had no interested about the Celestial Dragon Empire's throne. Ren was the one who caused everything, which means after all this, he won't be the Emperor. In fact, his very survival was in doubt now. And Alen, despite raising and treating Ren like his own son, had no willingness to save him.

'I hope Aditya won't refuse to sit at the Throne when the time comes.'

"My son, there is no legal way of challenging Ren for the Throne. The only thing that can be done legally is to get your exile order challenged by more than 50% of the Dukes of the Empire and overturned."

"If you want to challenge Ren, then you will need to fight him and his army."

"What is the process of getting my exile overturned?" Aditya asked.

"Well, last I remembered, not everyone was happy about Ren becoming the Emperor when the title of the Crown Prince was held by you. There were strong voices within the Empire to bring you back and then, a few years later, make you the Emperor." Aditya was surprised to hear that. He did not think there would be Dukes still raising their voices in his support.

"You still don't know much about the internal politics of the Celestial Dragon Empire." Elena stroked his head and said with a gentle smile.

'I used to do that to Clara. Now I am being treated like Clara.' But Aditya had to admit that it felt good to be treated like that.

"So, to get your exile overturned, you need the support of more than 50% of the Dukes. Once a majority of the Dukes stand in your favour, they will come together and sign a formal document known as the Charter of Noble Reinstatement."

"Once this document is signed, it will be sent directly to the Emperor. Under the laws of the Empire, this charter holds legal authority. Even if the Emperor does not wish to accept it, he will have no choice but to follow the legal framework and overturn your exile."

"And more importantly, gaining the support of more than half of the Dukes does not only mean their approval. It also means that all the noble houses beneath them will naturally follow their lead and support you as well."

"So, if the Emperor still decides to act against you, whether by attempting to arrest you or using military force, you will not stand alone. With the backing of the Dukes, their armies will also stand behind you. Even in the case of a civil war, you won't be fighting alone."

"You must know from Alfred that the politics of the Celestial Dragon Empire is divided mainly into three factions. There are houses that are completely loyal and devoted to the Throne. Elena and Athena exchanged a silent look.

"There are also some who are pretending to be on Ren's side to avoid any form of consequences. So if you appear, most likely some of these noble houses will come to your support. But most importantly, these houses will judge whether you are someone worth placing their trust in. Because to them, you will be a risky investment." A good example of that would be Mateo's house. Although his dad showed support for the Emperor, in secret, his son was working against the Emperor.

"Second Side, are the houses that don't like Ren at all. Some of them personally tried to contact me back when I made Ren the Emperor. You can expect almost immediate support from these houses. But there is also the factor of risk. If they think you are not worth the risk, they will choose to stay completely out of this mess."

"Lastly, there is the third faction, which is also the smallest of the three sides. There are 21 houses in this faction. But the House of Harrington is the unofficial leader of this third faction."

Alen looked at his wife with a fond smile. "And your mom comes from the House of Harrington." Elena had a small smile on her face. When Aditya looked at her, she gave him a gentle motherly nod.

"So you can expect their undying support till death." The House of Harrington was always the first among all other houses in every scenario. The Harrington Duke always maintained really close ties with the Royal Family.

"Alright! Is there anything else that I need to keep in mind?" Aditya already had a basic idea about the major factions of the Empire from Alfred and everything he had gathered. But now his father's words gave him more in-depth insight into the politics of the Empire.

"There is another side that is not part of the Celestial Dragon Empire's politics. But it is equally important. If you can gain even a few of their support, then the majority of the Dukes will choose to stand in your favour."

"Which side is that?" Aditya was confused. He had not heard of this from Alfred either.

"It's a Dragon Mountain Range. It's a place where the most powerful cultivators of the Empire from various houses, as well as the Emperors of the past, sleep or cultivate."

"Your Majesty, that place is extremely dangerous. You must not ask His Highness to go there." Alfred immediately tried to stop Alen. He knew that the plan of going to that place and getting on their side would most likely not work. This is why he did not tell Aditya about this place.

But Alen raised his palm in Alfred's direction while staring at Aditya. This move immediately silenced the former Butler.

"Aditya, this should be your last option. But if you really have to go, you should go and seek your Grandfather."

"He is still alive?" He was surprised.

"Of course, silly!" Alen chuckled, seeing Aditya's reaction.

"He had ruled the Empire for almost 10,000 years. When I reached maturity and got married, he decided to hand things over to me and retire. Maybe if Mom were still alive, he would have stuck around. But without mom, he became lonely. But still, once in a few decades, he used to visit us in secret."
