Chapter 1045: Chapter 1045:- “Choose Your Side”.
"Yes, I can’t wear the Royal Crown."
"Yes, I can’t sit on the royal throne."
"But there is a much bigger reason for this than just being unqualified."
"But my short answer is, uncle was so mad at my cousin that he decided to change the runes on the Crown and Throne so that Aditya can never be the emperor. But in the process of trying to do that, he accidentally damaged the runes."
"This is why, after becoming the Emperor, I had no choice but to contact the same Dwarf Tribe. The Ancestors of that tribe were responsible for the creation of the Royal Crown and the Royal Throne."
"Because I was qualified, Uncle decided to step down, even though he had just started his reign as the emperor, so that I could lead this empire to its golden age." Compared to Boris’s over 20,000 years of ruling, it could be said that Alen’s rule barely started.
"Did you think Emperor Alen made a wrong decision?" At that moment, Aditya really wanted to expose Ren and tell the truth to everyone that he and the organisation behind him controlled his parents.
His exile and Ren’s rise to the throne were never truly the will of his parents. The more Aditya spoke with them, the more he began to understand things without them needing to say it directly. They had never planned for Ren to become the Emperor, not under normal circumstances. Even if Aditya had never been born, Alen had intended to continue ruling for at least a few thousand more years. Only after that, if there was still no direct heir, would Ren have even been considered as a possible successor.
But for now, Aditya decided to let him continue speaking. The truth was very obvious. Even a blind man can understand what is going on here, even if he can’t see.
He had another reason for letting his cousin continue speaking. Aditya did not want the Organisation to realise that he already knew his parents were being controlled by them. If they found out, they would immediately change their plans and become more cautious. By staying silent and acting as if he knew nothing, he was giving himself an advantage. Once the civil war began, he could move at the right moment and catch everyone off guard by rescuing his parents before the Organisation could react.
If, even after knowing the full truth, some noble houses still chose to stand with the Emperor, then they did not deserve any form of mercy. At that point, it would no longer be a matter of misunderstanding or confusion, but a clear and deliberate choice. By supporting him despite everything, they would be turning their backs on the Empire itself. And in doing so, they would prove that they were not just misguided, but the true enemies of the Empire.
"This is the truth about the Crown and the Throne."
"I assure everyone that within a few weeks, this problem will be resolved. I did not want to speak of this matter to anybody because it’s an embarrassing matter."
"I did not especially want to embarrass my cousin by talking about this problem to anybody." When Aditya saw his cousin looking at him, he felt like his cousin was secretly giving him a mocking smirk.
But Aditya’s face remained expressionless. He did not care about silly mocking smirks. Sometimes it was important to let the enemy think that they were winning.
Ren and his man were about to leave, but it looked like he had forgotten something, so he stopped and then turned around.
"I would have ordered for your arrest if this weren’t a funeral."
"You can’t and you know that."
"Because you don’t have the strength to arrest me," Aditya replied with a smile. Ren did not smile the way Aditya did. There was something about that calm and confident smile that irritated him more than he expected. It was not arrogant, yet it carried a kind of certainty that made it hard to ignore. The more Ren looked at him, the more that expression started to get under his skin.
He kept trying to get inside Aditya’s head, hoping to shake him, to make him lose control even for a moment. Ren wanted him to slip, to show weakness, to embarrass himself in front of everyone. But instead of breaking, Aditya remained composed, and with each failed attempt, it was Ren himself who came closer to losing his temper.
"My dear cousin, you must be forgetting that if you want to challenge me for the throne, you must clear your name, as you are still a wanted criminal." But Aditya came here, being prepared to deal with this problem as soon as possible.
Ren was surprised to see Aditya still looking calm as ever.
"If more than fifty per cent of the Dukes and Duchesses of this Empire come together and formally sign the agreement known as the Charter of Noble Reinstatement, then my father’s exile as the former Emperor will no longer have any effect on me. Under that law, I will have the full right to remain here for as long as I choose and go wherever I wish, and you will have no legal authority to act against me."
"Good! I did not expect you to come here so prepared." Ren replied with a smile. But inside, he was fuming.
But in all honesty, Ren and Leo had already thought of a scenario where something like this could happen.
"Here is a piece of advice that you should seriously consider."
"After the funeral ends, you have a total of five hours to leave this empire and the main continent in general. Go back to ruling whatever graveyards you have founded there and continue your Dragon Monarch gimmick."
"Thank you for the advice, I will seriously not consider it."
Aditya stepped forward and then added in a low tone. But everyone still heard what he said next anyway.
"Just say hi to Leo for me." The moment Aditya spoke the name Leo, Ren’s expression changed instantly. It was not just a surprise. It was something deeper, something darker. For a brief second, the calm and control he had been holding onto completely slipped. His face twisted as if someone had just exposed a secret he had buried so deep that no one was ever supposed to find it. It felt like his biggest hidden truth had been dragged out into the open in front of everyone.
Sophia looked shocked and was in disbelief.
Although Victor was also slightly shocked, he did not care whether his enemy knew the name of the big boss or not. To him, he could not wait for this funeral to end so that he could return for his revenge.
’I will let you enjoy this moment a little longer.’
Ren quickly calmed and composed himself. He called his men before looking at Aditya one last time and then walked away.
There was no reason for them to stay here anymore. His original intention was to come here to mock and disrespect him.
But the one who left feeling most disrespected was the one who came here with the intention of disrespecting others.
The one who came here feeling like he had everything under the control of his fingertips left, feeling like he had no control of the situation.
The one who came here feeling like he knew everything about his enemy left feeling like his enemy knew everything about him. The calmness with which his cousin carried himself from the moment he stepped into the hall till the moment he left made the emperor feel like it wasn’t him who was in control of the situation. It was his cousin who was silently manipulating the entire atmosphere.
Shortly after Ren left, Sophia and Renji also left. Now that Ren was gone, and the other party appeared overwhelmingly strong with Harrington, goddess of war, and Boris standing on the same side, they did not want to continue embarrassing themselves any longer, and quickly left the funeral.
Not to mention, Sophia was now afraid of Aditya. He had publicly taken the leader’s name. She had to report this as soon as possible.
The only one from the Night Rider Sect that remained was Victor.
After Ren left, Aditya looked at everyone.
"I have a few sentences for everyone before I take my leave."
"If, after seeing everything, after hearing everything, you and your family are still supporting the emperor, then the real cancer of this empire isn’t my cousin, but you for supporting someone who is clearly lying to your face."
"Take my words as a warning, while you still have the chance. I suggest either putting your weapons down and repenting for what you did, as there might be some form of redemption and forgiveness in that. Or prepare to face the consequences of your actions. The consequences won’t just be limited to you, but also will be felt by your family."
In short, Aditya was warning them all that even if the head of the family died in the civil war, the consequences of siding with the emperor would still be felt by the rest of the family members.
Worst-case scenario, along with the head of the family, the rest of the family gets executed. In a normal scenario, if the offence isn’t extreme, then the whole family gets demoted to the position of a Baron and the head of the house gets killed as punishment.
Light punishment is demotion in noble rank and being stripped of certain rights and resources.
