Chapter 1209:- Home Coming [I]
Chapter 1209: Chapter 1209:- Home Coming [I]
“For now, I suggest you focus on finishing what you came here to do. After that, you can turn your attention toward winning this war.” By the time their conversation came to an end, the carriage had already slowed down.
A few seconds later, it came to a complete stop. They had arrived directly in front of the entrance to the Imperial Royal Palace.
Aditya silently looked outside. After all these years, he had finally returned to the place where he had spent most of his childhood. However, now was not the time to lose himself in memories.
Roy stood up and looked at Aditya and Rin.
“Come! Let us head inside.” Roy wanted to say ‘let us return home’ but held himself back. Some words wasn’t necessary to be spoken out loud. Aditya gave a small nod before following him out of the carriage.
The former Prime Minister Roy ignored Aditya and Rin for the moment and walked toward the main entrance of the Imperial Royal Palace.
Several powerful guards were stationed there, including a Sixth Order cultivator who was carefully observing everyone entering and leaving the palace. Security had clearly become much tighter because of the ongoing civil war.
However, the moment the guards recognised the old Prime Minister approaching them, their serious expressions immediately changed. Their eyes lit up with genuine happiness.
It had been months since they had last seen Roy. For many of these guards, the old man was someone they had seen almost every day for countless years. The moment he approached, several of them stepped forward and respectfully greeted him.
“Prime Minister!” Roy immediately waved his hand.
“Relax with all the formalities.” Roy replied with a small smile. “I am no longer the Prime Minister of this Empire.”
However, one of the guards immediately shook his head. “With all due respect, Sir, you served this Empire as Prime Minister for centuries.” The guard responded with the utmost respect and devotion.
“Just because you stepped down from your position some months ago does not mean we will suddenly stop respecting you.” Roy became silent after hearing those words.
Hearing these words, He was genuinely moved. At that moment, the guard’s simple words made Roy understand something that he had not properly considered since leaving the Celestial Dragon Empire.
He could abandon his position and he could leave the Capital. He could even move far away from the Empire and begin a completely new life with his granddaughter. But he could never erase the centuries that he had dedicated to this nation.
His lifelong work, sacrifices, achievements, and contributions would remain part of the Celestial Dragon Empire even after he was gone. There were still people here who remembered what he had done for them.
In a strange way, that realisation brought Roy a sense of satisfaction. It meant the countless years of his youth and life that he had spent serving this Empire had not been wasted.
“Sir, what brings you here today?” One of the guards respectfully asked.
Before Roy could answer, however, the guard seemed to remember something important.
“If you are here to see His Majesty Alen, I should inform you beforehand that we have received strict orders. No one is currently permitted to meet either His Majesty Alen or Her Majesty Elena.”
Hearing this, Roy showed no surprise. He calmly nodded as though he had already expected such an answer.
“Actually, I’m here to meet someone else.”
“One of my old friends still works inside the palace. His daughter recently passed away, but because of his responsibilities here, he was unable to return home. I brought some of his daughter’s belongings for him. I also wanted to speak with him for a little while.” Roy indeed had a few close friends within the Imperial Royal Palace.
The guards did not question his explanation. Roy’s reputation and the respect he had accumulated throughout his centuries of service were simply too great. None of them even considered the possibility that the former Prime Minister might be lying to them.
The guards immediately stepped aside and began opening the entrance for him. However, just before Roy stepped inside, he suddenly stopped. He turned around and looked toward Aditya and Rin, who were standing a short distance behind him.
“Actually, there is one more reason why I came here today.” Roy added.
The guards followed his gaze. “I was hoping these two could accompany me and take a look around the Imperial Royal Palace.” Roy gestured toward Aditya and Rin before specifically indicating Rin.
“This young woman is interested in working here. I have personally tested her abilities, and I can confidently say that she is more than qualified to become a servant within the Imperial Royal Palace.”
Roy paused briefly before casually adding something that nearly made Aditya’s expression change. “She certainly has the beauty and skills for it. In fact, if His Majesty ever becomes interested in taking another concubine in the future, I would say she is beautiful enough to be considered for that position as well.”
Hearing this, Aditya was so furious that he wanted to punch the old fat bastard to death. He knew that this was an excuse, but this was still unacceptable to him.
Rin wryly smiled and tried her best to calm her man down. She secretly patted his back so that he did not go loose on the guards. If he did anything like that, then everything will go down the drain.
Hearing Roy’s explanation, the guards did not ask any further questions. However, their attention naturally shifted toward the young man standing beside Rin.
Roy immediately understood what they were wondering. “These two are brother and sister. They are distant relatives of mine from my late wife’s side of the family.”
He gestured toward Rin first. “They approached me personally a few months ago because his younger sister wanted to find work within the Imperial Royal Palace. Since I was already familiar with her abilities and character, I agreed to help.”
Roy then shifted his attention toward Aditya. “As for her older brother, he is planning to settle down here in the Capital. In fact, before coming here, we visited the market together. He is considering opening a small herbal shop somewhere near the northern entrance of the city.”
The guards nodded after hearing the explanation. Everything sounded perfectly reasonable.
More importantly, the person personally vouching for these two was Roy Best, the former Prime Minister who had faithfully served the Celestial Dragon Empire for centuries. Given his reputation, the guards saw no reason to suspect that he would suddenly bring two dangerous individuals into the Imperial Royal Palace.
Without asking any more questions, the guards fully opened the gate. “Please enter.”
Just like that, Roy, Aditya, and Rin were allowed to step inside the Imperial Royal Palace. Of course, there was another important reason why Roy’s story sounded so believable.
The person Roy claimed he had come to meet was the man responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the entire Imperial Royal Palace. He held authority over practically everything related to the palace’s internal management.
The servants worked under his supervision, and he was responsible for managing food supplies, household necessities, maintenance, and countless other items entering and leaving the Imperial Royal Palace every day.
Essentially, if something involved the daily functioning of the Imperial Royal Palace, it would eventually fall under his authority.
It was also well known among the older palace guards and servants that Roy shared an extremely close relationship with this man. The two had known each other for many years, and calling them best friends would not have been an exaggeration.
Because of this, nothing about Roy’s visit appeared suspicious. The guards had no reason to question the former Prime Minister any further. The guards allowed all three of them to enter the Imperial Royal Palace without resistance and roam around the entire Palace without any restriction.
The Imperial Royal Palace was exactly as Aditya remembered it. To everyone else, this place was a gigantic fortress standing at the very centre of the Capital. It was the heart of the Celestial Dragon Empire. It was a symbol of Imperial authority that had stood for countless generations.
But to Aditya, this place was something much simpler and something extremely dear.
It was his home. This was where he had been born. This was where he had spent almost his entire childhood. Every courtyard, garden, corridor, and building seemed to carry some fragment of his past.
As a child, Aditya would spend entire afternoons roaming around the enormous Imperial Royal Palace. Sometimes, he would prank the maids before running away. Sometimes, he would play different games with the other children living within the palace. Other times, he would deliberately hide somewhere just so that his servants would panic and spend hours searching for him.
Back then, Aditya had found such simple things incredibly exciting and fulfilling. This was also where he had spent much of his childhood with Riya, the Goddess of Nature. Back then, neither of them could have possibly imagined that the childhood friend he played with inside these palace grounds would one day become one of his future wives.
