Chapter 942:- A Risky Move
Chapter 942: Chapter 942:- A Risky Move
"After absorbing the Crimson Flame and the Lava, the Abyssal Obsidian Behemoth had grown even stronger now." - Seeing this, Frank couldn’t help but sigh.
’You don’t have much time left’ It would be against the rules and the wishes of his true self if he told him the weaknesses of the golem. This was something that he had to find out on his own and use that to defeat the golem within the remaining minutes.
’I already overstepped my boundaries by letting him have the Katana.’ Even though he was the administrator of this trial, he was not supposed to show himself and have a long conversation with the Challenger. But he still did.
Mainly because Aditya is such an interesting character, and he is the descendant of his friend. Also, after being the administrator of this place for countless years and decades, Frank desperately wanted to talk to someone.
But he had set a rule for himself. He would not talk to any challenger in the first stage. Those who make it to the second stage will be able to see him. And beyond the third stage, he would talk to them.
He was a social creature. Even when he was alive, he wasn’t an introvert or someone who avoided interaction with people altogether. So not being able to have a conversation with anyone for thousands, if not 10,000s of years or even more, was too much for him.
Meanwhile____
Aditya barely had time to process the shift in the creature’s aura before the Behemoth moved, or more like disappeared instantly. There was no warning, no buildup or no predictable pattern.
It was just a sudden blur of molten light cutting across the battlefield. For something that large and colossal, its speed should have been impossible, yet here it was moving so fast that it left a red trail behind it.
It also spoke about the terrifying strength this 12-meter behemoth possessed to move its body at such alarming speed.
Boom!!!
A massive arm slammed into Aditya from the side. He didn’t even fully see it coming. One second, he was standing with an intent to charge towards the Abyssal Obsidian Golem; the next second, he was flying across the battlefield like a stone launched from a catapult.
The impact rattled his bones. His body moved so fast that he couldn’t even process anything.
Also, he couldn’t feel anything either.
The force of the impact sent him crashing into the hardened volcanic ground.
"Agh...!"
The pain of the attack and the crash reached his brain. The attack was intended to kill him. The golem did not hold back. There was no such thing as testing each other’s strength at the beginning of each stage, as he and his opponents did to each other in the previous rounds.
This Being was cold and ruthless. It wanted Aditya dead from the first second.
’It hurts like hell!’ But he still pushed himself up while coughing slightly.
Without bothering to check on his wounds and ignoring the intense pain, his eyes quickly scanned the battlefield to find the golem.
’The Golem moved faster than I expected... .’ He thought that he might have an advantage with his agility. Or even if this thing was fast, he thought, at least he would be able to match it with his agility.
But the Golem was not only defensively strong, but it also had the strength of a Titan. On top of that, it was super quick.
’I can’t find any weakness in this Behemoth.’ In the previous battle, where he waited patiently to find one opening to finish the job, it didn’t look like this strategy would work here. Because fire, lightning and magma were completely useless against it. Now he couldn’t find any advantage in physical attributes either.
This was a battle where he was at a complete disadvantage. There was literally nothing that he could take advantage of.
Aditya didn’t have time to fully stand. The ground beneath him rumbled. The Golem had already closed the distance again.
Swoosh!!
He used Crimson Wrap Flash out of pure instinct. The Emperor vanished the very instant before a giant obsidian fist crushed the crater he had fallen into a few seconds earlier. He reappeared several meters away, but he was barely able to stabilise on his feet.
For a moment, he believed he had evaded it properly.
But the Monarch’s assumption was wrong.
The Colossal Giant turned its head, and before it could settle into a new stance, it swung its enormous arm sideways as if dusting something away. The swing originated from a different angle and was delayed just enough to catch him mid-teleport recovery.
Bang!!
This time, the hit landed cleanly on his shoulder, and the force pushed him skidding across the floor.
Aditya quickly dug his heels into the cracked ground, stopping himself only after leaving a long trench behind.
His shoulder throbbed as if molten steel had been poured through the bone. Afraid that another attack would hit him before he could even look at the Golem, Aditya performed a series of rapid Teleportations, one after another, without stopping for a single second.
Swoosh!!!
Swooosh!!!
Swooosh!!!
The Abyssal Obsidian Behemoth silently watched the entire process without trying to chase its target.
Finally, he stopped after he was far away from the Monster.
For a second, both of them stopped and stared at each other.
Crimson Scales began covering his entire body, only leaving his face bare. At the same time, long, beautiful Crimson Dragon Wings unfolded out of his back. His palms transformed into powerful Dragon claws.
[Dragon Transformation!]
Both of their eyes glowed red.
The eyes of the Golem had no pupil. It was pure red eyes that were filled with rage and violence.
The eyes of the Dragon Monarch had vertical slits in them. His pupils matched the Golem’s intensity. The eyes of the Divine Dragon were filled with killing intent and coldness towards this artificial Being.
The Behemoth lowered its body slightly. At the same time, the molten cracks along its plates grew brighter. Its runic rings rotated with a smoother and almost rhythmic pattern, as if it were preparing for something more potent than a simple strike.
The Obsidian plates of the Behemoth shifted slightly. It also created a cracking sound. The sound was very similar to the sound of metal bending. The sound did not escape Aditya’s ears. But he could see no change in the Golem.
But the next second, he saw something that again stunned him.
Aditya saw the slight expansion of its back. The molten cracks brightened along its spine, and the low grinding sound of stone splitting from within reached his ears.
Something was forcing its way out.
’It’s changing its form—!’
Before he could finish the thought, two massive plates on the creature’s back slid open like doors of an ancient fortress. The movement was slow, yet heavy enough to generate dust clouds. What emerged from underneath were two volcanic cannon-like structures, glowing brighter than the lava pits that he had created earlier.
BOOOOOOOOOM!!!
Twin beams of molten energy erupted from the Golem’s back cannons. They cut through the air like streams of liquid fire, leaving trails of molten sparks behind. The pressure alone was enough to make the ground crack beneath the line of twin beams.
Aditya reacted on instinct and vanished.
Crimson Wrap Flash!
Swoosh!!
He reappeared to the right, only for the beams to swivel unnaturally fast and chase his location. It was like the Twin Beams were locked onto his presence.
Aditya teleported a few more times. But the beams continued to run after him. The twin beams refused to stop chasing him, regardless of which direction he teleported. If he teleported above, then the beams bent up. If he teleported to the ground, then the beams took an upside-down U-turn towards his direction. And the twin beams did all that without losing their speed or power.
’It tracks my mana signature...!’ This has to be the most logical and possible explanation that he could think of.
’Since that’s the case!’ He teleported a few more times before teleporting above the Golem this time. Aditya was planning to charge downward before the Behemoth could aim upward. He was going to bring the twin beams after him and then teleport or move away at the last second and let the Behemoth take the hit from its own attack.
But the Golem had some other plans. How can it not understand what Aditya was thinking?
A third cannon, one he didn’t see, opened along the creature’s shoulder as he was constantly teleporting from the Twin Beams. It glowed for half a heartbeat before firing a compressed sphere of molten obsidian straight upward.
Aditya saw a red glowing beam before him. This beam was faster than the other two beams. The glow from the attack was reflecting on his face, making his face look red due to the close distance between the two things.
BOOOOOM!!!
The collision of three beams created a huge explosion in the air.
----------------
The explosion’s shockwave shook the sky itself. At the last second, Aditya had teleported out of the direct impact line of the third cannon blast and protected his whole body with his Dragon wings.
Aditya forced his burned and torn wings open and twisted his body mid-air. He refused to fall in the same straight line that the Golem expected. Steam and debris blinded his view for a moment, but when the light faded, he acted immediately.
Crimson Wrap Flash.
Swoosh!!
He reappeared behind the colossal monster. He was just a few meters away from its massive spine. His claws were already raised. For the smallest fraction of a second, he saw an opportunity created through pure instinct and timing. The molten cannons on its back were still recovering from their last blast, and the plates had not fully closed.
It was the only blind spot he had seen so far.
He slashed downward with full force.
SLASH!!!
His claws tore across the obsidian plates. Sparks and fragments flew. But the result made his stomach tighten.
The attack barely left a scratch. There wasn’t even a dent.
It was like trying to carve through a mountain with a kitchen knife. His dragon claws, sharp enough to tear through most metals, barely left faint white marks across the surface before fading.
’Damn... I really can’t hurt it at all.’ Instead, he felt his claws hurting.
But he didn’t have time to process the disappointment.
The Behemoth reacted immediately.
The molten cracks along its back flashed with a brighter glow.
But in that very instant, he caught something he had never noticed before.
The runic ring around its right shoulder rotated twice. The ring’s movement was smooth and steady.
Aditya didn’t understand it yet, but his instincts flared sharply. He felt something powerful was coming.
His body was already too battered to take another attack and continue. He was bleeding from almost everywhere. It was a mix of old injuries that hadn’t healed and newer ones. Only his face was clean of his blood.
Swoosh!!
He teleported again. He left only a slight distortion to the space where he had just been. He appeared a few meters away, but the attack still reached him. The Golem did not shoot another beam.
Instead, its huge right arm shifted strangely. The obsidian plates along its right arm pulled inward, tightened, and gathered force like a giant spring being loaded.
BOOOM!
The arm snapped forward with incredible force. A powerful shockwave blasted out from its forearm. It hit Aditya before he could react. His ribs felt like they were being crushed. The hit knocked all the air from his lungs and sent him flying across the battlefield.
"Aghh!"
He crashed and rolled along the broken ground. He stopped right before he dropped into a lava crack that was empty of any Lava.
His chest hurt. His dragon scales were damaged, and his breathing was shaky. His vision was getting blurred. He was sure that there was blood in his eyes. Even so, he forced himself to look up.
He saw the runic ring on the Golem’s arm glowing faintly. It was still turning slowly, having just finished powering the attack.
’Do those runes react every time it uses an ability?’
He wasn’t sure yet. It was risky to trust this idea. But it was the first clue he had found in this entire battle. If he was correct, then this could be his key to defeating this Golem within the remaining minutes. And if his guess was not on the mark, then this would be the end of his journey in this trial.
