Chapter 1147: Vice Sect Leader Chen Yi
Chapter 1147: Vice Sect Leader Chen Yi
"Insufferable bastard, there are things in this world you shouldn’t utter!"
Without warning, Chen Yi flicked his sleeves, attacking Su Yang with a wave of Profound Qi.
"Xiao Yang!"
Lin Xinyi cried out in alarm, covering her face in shock. She could’ve never anticipated that the Vice Sect Leader would actually attack him.
However, Su Yang casually turned his body, dodging the attack with grace and ease.
"Aren’t you worried about damaging this place, Vice Sect Leader?" Su Yang remarked with a calm smile. "Or do you believe the rules don’t apply to you simply because of your position?"
"Who the hell are you to lecture me about the rules?!" Chen Yi snapped. "I am the Vice Sect Leader, while you’re nothing more than a disrespectful disciple who doesn’t know his own place!"
Chen Yi retrieved a sword and wielded it in his left hand as he spoke.
"Don’t worry, I won’t kill you—at least I will try not to!" Chen Yi said as he closed the distance between them and swung.
"Kill me by accident?"
Su Yang chuckled as he dodged the first sword strike.
"You won’t be able to kill me even if you tried!"
Su Yang proceeded to evade Chen Yi’s attacks one after another, his movements fluid and uninterrupted, almost as though he could predict each attack before Chen Yi even made his move.
"A-Amazing..." Lin Xinyi watched with a dazed face, awe flickering within her clear eyes.
Although Vice Sect Leader Chen Yi was clearly holding back to avoid damaging the Eternal Yin Yang Cave, the prowess he displayed was still leagues beyond anything even a Core Disciple should have been capable of handling.
Yet Su Yang was doing exactly that, making it seem as though he weren’t facing an Elder at all, but rather an opponent on the same level. However, to anyone experienced enough to see beyond the surface, it was obvious that Su Yang held the upper hand.
’This bastard! He’s not simply reacting to my attacks—he’s predicting them! It’s almost as if he knows me, as though we’ve fought countless times before!’
Chen Yi was no fool, and it didn’t take him long to realize this.
’No, that can’t be! It’s impossible! This is the first time I’ve ever shown him my sword skills, so how could he possibly predict my movements?!’
Chen Yi quickly dismissed the thought. There was simply no way someone he had never fought before could predict his attacks with such accuracy.
However, Su Yang’s next words immediately made Chen Yi doubt himself.
"Your sword skills are as shabby as ever. When was the last time you even practiced with a sword?"
"Wh-What are you blabbering about?! Don’t speak as if you know me!"
Taken aback by Su Yang’s remark, Chen Yi paused for a split second before he snapped out of it and continued his attack.
"Straight thrust, left shoulder," Su Yang suddenly called out.
The very next moment, Chen Yi’s sword shot toward his left shoulder with a straight thrust.
"Right leg. Right shoulder. Left leg."
Su Yang continued calling out Chen Yi’s targets one after another, and each prediction proved perfectly accurate. To an uninformed observer, it might have seemed as though Su Yang were commanding Chen Yi where to strike. In reality, he was actually predicting every one of Chen Yi’s movements before they even happened.
"H-How...?" Chen Yi eventually stopped attacking to stare at Su Yang with a bewildered expression, looking like he’d just witnessed a ghost.
"Have we met before? Why don’t I remember you?"
"Well, you are getting old. Perhaps it’s dementia?" Su Yang replied with a mocking smile.
Veins bulged across Chen Yi’s face, but despite his mounting fury, he somehow managed to keep his anger under control.
"Answer me, Disciple Xiao! Have we met before outside this sect?!"
After a moment of silence, Su Yang calmly shook his head.
"No."
"Then how the hell are you able to predict my attacks as if we’ve fought before?!" Chen Yi shouted.
"You want to know the truth? I’ll tell you..."
Su Yang took a deep breath before revealing, "It’s simply because your sword skills are so trash that even a mere disciple like me can predict your every move..."
"You... you... you..." Chen Yi stammered, unable to find the words to respond as his entire body trembled with rage.
"I’ll fucking kill you, you insolent bastard!"
Killing intent surged from Chen Yi as he charged at Su Yang with the full force of his cultivation.
Despite this, Su Yang did not move a muscle, almost as though he had no intention of dodging the incoming attack.
"Vice Sect Leader?!" Lin Xinyi cried out in alarm.
Even if she wanted to intervene, the pressure radiating from Chen Yi was so immense that she couldn’t even approach them.
A faint smile tugged at Su Yang’s lips, his gaze almost daring Chen Yi to strike him down.
However, just as Chen Yi pulled his arm back, his movements abruptly came to a halt.
"What’s the matter, Chen Yi?" Su Yang asked, deliberately dropping his title altogether.
"You...!" Chen Yi’s sword arm trembled violently as he fought the overwhelming urge to cut Su Yang in half. However, he could sense the others rapidly approaching from behind.
"Don’t think this is over, Disciple Xiao! I will remember this!" Chen Yi growled in a low voice as he put away the sword.
A moment later—
"Vice Sect Leader! What happened?! Why did you release your killing intent just now?!"
The Elders who had finally caught up immediately questioned him, worried frowns appearing on their faces when they noticed Su Yang there as well.
"This disciple said something disrespectful, so I merely frightened him a little to teach him a lesson," Chen Yi replied.
"Frightened him...?"
The Elders turned to look at Su Yang with raised eyebrows. No matter how they looked at him, he didn’t appear frightened in the slightest. But they didn’t question it further, and they didn’t have time.
"Anyway, I’m done here. Let’s go," Chen Yi said before moving past Su Yang and leading the Elders away.
