Dungeon of Lust: Managing Otherworldly Beauties

Chapter 152: Bed For All

Chapter 152: Bed For All

Vale and his Legion had spent the rest of the day transporting what they could all the way from the village to the logistical hub.

After realizing that the workers could fly and a great deal of them would be able to carry heavier items, Vale himself had been going door to door and finding the most valuable things to take...

Mias, cloaked by Nevermore, would lead twenty of Vale’s workers to go and transport seven mattresses and bed frames. A couple of tables and chairs. A loom. A bookcase. A couple of doors and hinges. A kitchen set. Among other essential blueprints, which they’d need for workers to replicate the buildings.

Unfortunately, the village didn’t seem to have a blacksmith, but a few of the homes had charcoal furnaces used for cooking, so they’d also been able to get a stockpile and Ember and Ruby could soon start their forging journey.

Vale lay down in his spacious private room on a nice, a little charred, rug with diamond formations woven around a red frame as he twirled a rose he’d found lying on a table in one of the buildings.

"Ah..."

’This... this soft feeling below me.’

’This is the feeling of Victory.’

For the first time in three damned months, Vale was finally able to lie down and rest his eyes in comfort.

Soon he’d even have a bed!

Plus...

Vale, during the battle, had slain 112 people. As for how he knew the exact number...

He had now amassed 589 Aether.

As much as he was happy for his increased reserves, he knew the cost from which it came, which dampened his mood a little.

Though it was necessary...

His actions had been necessary.

If he let those cultists live, who knew when they’d return with an army at his doorstep.

Speaking of that...

There were currently two outsiders who knew of Vale’s existence as well as the location of his dungeon.

One was Ophelia, the other the mysterious oracle — who Vale decreed was most likely this ’Woman of the Waterfall.’

While Vale would love nothing more than to investigate said waterfall, he decided he’d only make that trip once he became Emergent.

’Better safe than sorry.’

As for Ophelia, Vale was kind of unsure of what to do about her.

She had vital information... but also, she was potentially Vale’s worst nightmare.

And, unfortunately, Vale’s Champion had half betrayed him.

’I don’t think it would matter if I got on my hands and knees and begged...’

Mias wasn’t going to kill Ophelia himself.

Therefore, Vale would have to trust Mias to manage Ophelia in a way that she does’t come back to bite them.

’Man... I hope you like your punishment.’

There wasn’t much Vale could do to appropriately punish the smoky spectre, but he’d come up with quite the targeted, unique method.

Vale had begun to tell Mias of the Heroic Tale of Sevian from his homeworld, but had stopped right before the most intriguing part of the hero’s story, and refused to share further.

Vale had also, once finding out Kaldora hadn’t had guns after Mias asked him to explain what they were, had begun to describe the deadly weapons, only to give the scholar the runaround.

Mias would have to remain curious about the explosive weapon, which could fire a pebble-like iron ball many times faster than an arrow and cause much more penetrative damage.

While the above seems like an unfit punishment for what Mias had done, his curiosity was driving him absolutely mad.

Plus, he’d replaced Ximena’s job of permanent guard duty for the foreseeable future.

As for how everyone else was faring after their recent victory? Well, he’d gotten quite the surprising array of messages nearing the end of the battle.

A few of his warriors had leveled up.

It seemed that, unlike everything else, it wasn’t Aether that his warriors needed to level up, but kills.

Vale wasn’t sure of the exact threshold, but Stacy, Edith, and Alpha had all leveled up.

And, as Vale had theorized, they’d unlocked an ability. Though they’d gotten different abilities.

’So... this being confirmed makes it even more likely what I fought was a warrior — a leveled-up warrior.’

And, by Vale’s guess, most likely a warrior of Envy.

Stacy’s ability was [Fixation].

Fixation was a taunt that messed with a person’s senses, causing them to subconsciously focus on her.

While it wasn’t able to completely force something to target her, it was definitely a useful tool when used properly.

At the very least, it could mess with cognitive thought and throw off an enemy’s rhythm.

Edith’s ability was [Blood Fiend].

Much like Salome’s Vitality Drain, Edith could absorb blood to heal herself.

Although Edith was only able to heal physically, not siphon Aether. Plus, the conversion rate was much lower than Salome’s.

Finally, Alpha got the ability [Dominion]

Dominion made all Warriors, so not Archers or Mages, in her presence a little stronger.

Quite an odd ability considering she was an Archer.

As Vale looked over these new abilities, he couldn’t help but notice each had gotten one suited to their fighting styles. Or at least related to the roles they’d been given in the war.

’I wonder if the workers will get an ability...’

But more so: How did the workers even level up?

Surely they don’t have to kill like the warriors, right?

’Maybe it will just happen naturally as they work more.’

Vale would just hope for the best that something happens in time... If not, he’d start experimenting.

Of course, his warriors weren’t the only ones to gain from all of the fighting.

Awilix, who’d killed the most by far, enough to saturate her core three times over, was now capped out and approaching max Loyalty.

It was time for her to find her essence...

’Whatever that means.’

Sadly, it didn’t seem like the cat would be focusing on that anytime soon, as she was still in constant fury, trying to stalk Mias.

Vale had to spend a quarter of his time chasing her around, trying to stop her from chasing Mias and the workers as they transported the spoils.

Those spoils being the beds...

Vale watched as a flurry of imps floated past his doorway to his room with the first bed and bedframe in their claws.

This bed, the largest one in the whole village that was left unseared, was being put in the dungeon within a dungeon.

Its placement in there was for... obvious reasons.

Vale’s eyes twinkled as he imagined how much better relations would be on a bed rather than the stone floor.

Better yet...

Vale watched the imps pass by his room once again, on their way to pick up the next bed...

’I’ll have my own bed soon!’

’Life... life is good.’

Though not everything was all smiles and cheers.

Over the past week, during their siege, the beasts that took place outside and made the canyon their home were undoubtedly growing stronger on average.

And, now they needed to hunt them as a food source, meaning this issue would only worsen.

Not to mention...

The villagers had done the same culling that Vale’s Legion had in the dark forest above. Meaning, the beast’s population there was also growing stronger.

Vale was sure that within the coming weeks, they’d have to go back to fearing the outside.

Vale’s depressing line of thought was interrupted as the workers returned with another bed and bedframe.

Vale got out of their way, let them destroy his old stone bed, then placed down the new one.

"Baduh!"

The workers flew off to get the next beds as Vale looked down, tears nearly swelling in his eyes.

’It... It’s so beautiful!’

Vale dolphin dived onto the comfy mattress, then threw [Cold Pillow] behind his head and [Stay Safe] over his body...

Vale closed his eyes, a dubious smile on his face as his body began to sink.

’It’s so comfortable!’

Well, not really... Not compared to the beds back in his home world.

But when compared to how he’d been sleeping before, on stone, this bed felt heaven-sent.

For the first time in three months, he was going to sleep in comfort.

Vale could feel his consciousness slipping when, all of a sudden, he felt a velvety fabric brush against his legs under his blanket.

He lifted up the robe to see Awilix, curled up in a ball at the foot of the bed, staring back at him while yawning.

Awilix growled lightly.

"What’re you looking at? And why are you smiling like that?!"
