Chapter 272: Sanctity
Chapter 272: Sanctity
Sandra picked up her head, then lowered herself back into the chair.
"Very well. If that is what you wish."
Then her gaze found the two knights on the couch.
"Bradshaw? Eric?"
"Sounds simple."
Eric looked over at Vale, then added:
"I don’t like being mixed up with your kind, but neither do I like one making a fool of us. So, I’ll do as you wish."
Vale’s expression loosened, and he gave the three a soft smile.
"Thank you."
After a clock’s tick, he added:
"Now, let us discuss lodgings, shall we."
From there, Vale described a little bit of the blueprint system as well as the workers’ functions.
Intensely curious with this never-before-known knowledge, the two knights seemed to momentarily lose their wariness as they discussed how to shift the dungeon.
Unfortunately, they couldn’t see the holograph, so Vale had to describe it to them. In the end, they decided to mine out the barracks from a false path in the maze.
Then, on the far side of the maze, there was another false path. This path led to a ramp and then four separate rooms, all with a deep hole.
’I’m not going to particularly like having piss and shit in my dungeon...’
But Lust should clean it up; however, the dungeon is his body in a sense, so...
’Will I be absorbing it?!’
It was a nasty thought, one he decided not to dwell on.
After that was settled, Sandra began explaining what they were bringing.
Besides pillows, weapons, ammo, clothes, food, water, and blankets, they would be threading a thin wire into Vale’s dungeon and set up a telegraph.
While Vale wasn’t exactly certain the level of radio had advanced, he was quietly suspicious it went beyond the telegraph.
But it also made sense.
’Are there airwaves in the dungeon?’
Vale heavily doubted it.
Meaning a wired connection seemed the only way to go.
In any case, he had made a separate communications room for them.
Finally, the last room he’d create for them was a war council room near the barracks — a room containing a diorama of the gorge.
There may be additional requests in the future, but this was where their pre-planning ended.
Once it was over, there was no small talk to be had between the three. Vale led them back into the Grand Hub, then called out his Legion.
He ordered all imps to get back to work, but had an odd stipulation: none were to go to the second floor, meaning they had to use the stone they mined for the rooms to also build the ramp and toilet.
With that done, he ordered Stacy to lead the soldiers back to the start of the maze and then called Sivian aside, taking her all the way to the end of Floor One.
Vale leaned against the wall, then looked over at the teleportation orb and the succubus standing beside it.
"We discussed this before, but it seems Envy really has snuck in."
A billow of smoke seemed to seep from an invisible rift in the air. The ashen form took shape, revealing Mias.
Vale sighed, then said:
"Once this initial construction is complete, there will be protocols set in place. Nobody is to tread between floors, and Salome, you are to remain on guard in here."
Reluctantly, the succubus nodded.
It was her turn to be the full-time cave dweller.
Ximena may be better suited to the role, but at this point in time, Salome was the one who needed to be hidden.
With that established, Vale added on the rest of his precautions he was going to set in place.
Using the status screens, he would determine the workers who were not controlled by Envy and send them to Floor Two to begin expansion. And it wouldn’t be a small amount. He intended to send nearly a hundred to help with the crystal removal.
Next, not even Champions would be allowed access without Vale scanning them.
Finally, since Vale couldn’t read Toy’s status at all, she was to remain on Floor Two indefinitely. It was a pitiful affair for the poor goblin. But as pitiful as it was, it was necessary.
’She’s always getting stuck in the boring positions.’
Perhaps that was Vale’s unconscious way of protecting her.
Also...
’I hope it’s boring.’
If Toy saw fighting, that didn’t seem like a good thing... not at all.
When that was said, Vale added one last thing.
"Salome, do not let me pass either without displaying proof it is me."
Mias scoffed.
"Quite the precarious situation we’ve found ourselves in."
Salome chuckled, then added:
"Quite precarious indeed."

The rest of the day passed in boring grace. The imps figured out how to make the stone not instantly disappear and were diligently putting the final touches on the poop ramp.
The barracks were almost complete as well.
It seemed having all 134 set on the same task made efficiency skyrocket... who would have thought.
As for the Akkuron forces...
They’d long received their supplies and begun practically claiming a part of Vale’s dungeon as their own.
Vale, lying on his bed, chuckled to himself.
’I should make them pay rent...’
He exhaled slowly, already dreading what tomorrow would bring.
He had the Council of Vice and what came after.
This would be the first Council of Vice since Envy had become aware he knew.
’Thanks Greed...’
And since he pissed off Wrath.
And since Greed had uncovered his hiding of a Virtue.
At least it was unlikely Greed would make it back to her dungeon in time for the meeting.

Greed stood at the edge of a basin, looking down at a woman with green hair, soaked to the bone. Her Champions stood atop the edges of the cwm so as to not intimidate poor Envy too much.
"Ivy, my dear, would you like to make a trade?"
"Huh? I already told you I’m not dealing with you. And what are you doing back here?"
"Hmm... but what if I told you I just visited Lust and, I don’t know, know most everything about him? His strengths, weaknesses, Items... and who knows what else?"
Envy, who looked annoyed one second, was smiling wickedly the next.
"If that’s the case, then perhaps I’d be willing to hear you out."
