Earth's Greatest Magus

Chapter 3053: Gene Breakthrough

Chapter 3053: Gene Breakthrough

Emery returned to the Gene Center and immediately noticed that something had changed.

Kayelin hadn’t merely prepared ten doses of the modified serum. The examination chamber itself had been reinforced, with additional formations layered into the walls and several unfamiliar pieces of equipment installed around the central examination chair. Clearly, she had no intention of relying on the old setup for an experiment of this magnitude.

Kayelin stood beside the apparatus, a rare anticipation visible in her expression.

"Let’s do this."

Emery took his place.

Kayelin would monitor and control everything related to his physical body, while Emery and his dark avatar would focus entirely on his soul and the increasingly restless Star-Devouring Beast within his Sea of Consciousness.

The first dose entered his body.

Then the second.

For a moment, everything proceeded as expected.

Then something inside Emery lurched violently.

The Star-Devouring Beast surged against the boundaries of his spiritual sea, Its hunger sharpened into something dangerously close to agitation, and its immense presence strained against Emery’s spiritual restraints with enough force that he felt it physically, like a second heartbeat pounding against his own chest.

Emery’s dark avatar immediately reinforced the suppression.

The third dose followed.

Then the fourth.

Then the fifth.

Dose after dose entered Emery’s body despite the increasingly violent reactions. Each one brought another wave of heat and pressure, forcing Emery to spend hours recovering before his body could safely accept the next. The pain became almost constant, but he continued without hesitation.

The sixth dose passed.

Then the seventh.

Then the eighth.

Nothing.

The purification continued, but the numbers barely moved, leaving Emery with little more than mounting strain to show for the effort.

Kayelin watched every reading with intense concentration.

Emery simply endured.

Then came the ninth dose.

The moment the modified serum entered his veins, Emery’s expression changed.

He finally felt it.

Something deep within his bloodline gave way all at once.

It wasn’t the gradual increase he had experienced from the previous doses, where every small improvement had required hours of pain and adaptation. This was a complete structural shift. His gene essence began reorganizing at a speed so violent that even the Gene Center’s consoles struggled to keep up, the numbers flickering too rapidly for the diagnostic formations to properly record.

Then, in the instant before the transformation fully broke open, a vision appeared.

The examination chamber vanished.

Emery found himself standing beneath a twilight sky unlike anything he had ever seen. A blazing golden sun and a silver moon hung together in perfect stillness, neither rising nor setting. Behind them, an entire galaxy revolved slowly across the heavens, its countless stars forming vast spirals around a single point of darkness.

Then came the howl.

It rolled across the cosmos like the first sound ever made.

The galaxy trembled.

Stars flickered.

Even the sun and moon seemed to dim beneath its call.

Only then did Emery realize the galaxy itself wasn’t the backdrop.

It was behind something.

Its form was so immense that Emery’s mind struggled to comprehend it. Mountains could have rested upon its back like grains of sand. Entire worlds might have circled within the silver fur flowing along its body. Its eyes burned like twin celestial bodies, ancient beyond measure.

The Wolf God.

The mere act of looking at it filled Emery with a primal instinct.

Fear.

Belonging.

Every drop of Wolf blood within him trembled.

The first time he had glimpsed this existence, the Wolf God had barely glance at him.

This time was different.

The colossal head lowered slightly.

Those world-sized eyes focused directly upon him.

Emery felt something behind that ancient gaze.

Recognition.

A low growl escaped the ancient being, carrying meanings far older than language itself. Each syllable seemed capable of becoming a law, each vibration echoing through Emery’s soul and bloodline simultaneously. The words reached him clearly.

Then the Wolf God suddenly stopped.

Its gaze shifted.

Not toward Emery.

Behind him.

A deep rumble spread across the heavens.

Emery sensed something change in the ancient deity’s expression.

Interest.

Then came the roar.

The Star-Devouring Beast erupted from the depths of Emery’s spiritual sea like a primordial catastrophe given form. Its enormous maw opened wide enough to swallow stars, its presence carrying an endless hunger that seemed capable of consuming the very heavens around it.

The galaxy shook.

The Wolf God and the Star-Devouring Beast stared at one another across the twilight sky.

A roar erupted once again.

The Star-Devouring Beast surged forward, its savage presence crashing into the vision with such force that the entire scene began to fracture.

The twilight sky split apart.

The sun and moon shattered.

The distant galaxy broke into countless fragments.

Even the colossal figure of the Wolf God dissolved into a storm of crystalline light.

Yet the fragments did not disappear.

They drifted toward Emery instead.

One by one, the countless pieces of that shattered vision sank into him, passing through him and disappearing into the deepest layer of his consciousness. Emery felt them settle somewhere beyond ordinary thought, leaving behind an impression he could not yet understand.

Outside, Kayelin’s expression changed completely.

The concern that had remained on her face throughout the experiment vanished, replaced by open excitement as the readings across the consoles stabilized into a pattern she had been waiting for.

"He’s going to make it."

The entire examination chamber trembled.

Golden energy erupted from Emery’s body as the bloodline transformation reached its final stage. For a brief moment, silvery fur spread across his forearms before sinking back beneath his skin, while the faint green runes that had marked his forehead and chest suddenly blazed with brilliant light.

Then they changed.

The green gradually faded, replaced by a deep, radiant gold.

But those weren’t the only changes.

Beneath the golden markings, something else awakened.

A new mark slowly appeared on his forehead. It looked almost like a brand pressed directly into his flesh, glowing faintly as though it had only just finished cooling.

Emery could feel the mark pulsing with an unfamiliar power.

Then a notifications appeared.
