Chapter 1525 1525: Descent into the Depths (Part 2)

Adam and Alexia saw the abyss back at the Citadel when they used the Winding Fragments to figure out where they needed to go.

However, only now, after traveling a long way, did they find themselves in front of this place.

The barrier remained behind them while cold gusts of wind blew past their faces as their gazes slowly descended.

Even though they were standing at the very edge, all they could see below was a bright blue light and nothing else.

They had no idea what might be at the bottom of the Frost Oasis and what dangers awaited them there.

"Hey, do you think that talking stone is right?" Alexia asked, looking down.

Adam shrugged.

"I don't know, but the Ancient Frost and Blood of God awaits us there."

"On the count of three?"

Adam nodded.

"1."

"2..."

"3!"

Simultaneously, they jumped, soon disappearing into the bright blue light.

Again, the Head Golem was alone. Sure, he had subordinates, but they weren't the same as the random Phantoms who had decided to become stronger through the Frost Oasis.

"Grh..." The Head Golem grunted, glancing at the abyss. "Why...? Why is this young man, who hasn't lived through a single World Wipe so confident...? And... Why do I think he has a chance?"

Then, the Head Golem shook his head and returned to the ground. Even though deep down he wanted to hope that they could impress him, his mind understood that it was impossible.

...

At the same time, wave after wave of light swept past Adam and Alexia's eyes as they continued to descend lower and lower.

They were ready for anything. Adam didn't rule out the possibility that someone could attack them right now. At the Primal Lands, it was more than possible.

But nothing happened, and only the source of the bright light finally became clear.

"Agh?"

Alexia looked around at the thousands of energy crystals in the walls surrounding them. The deeper they descended, the fewer crystals there were, while the light gradually faded away.

"Why are we falling for so long? How deep is this abyss?" she exclaimed. "And these crystals! Damn! There are tens of thousands of them here!"

True, such a quantity of energy crystals would be enough for thousands of fairly strong monsters to evolve. However, it was hardly possible to obtain them. These crystals grew along the abyss's walls, filling every crack closer to the top and emitting a bright light.

However, the crystals did not approach the barrier that separated the abyss from the outside world.

Tremble. Tremble. Tremble.

Clumps of energy appeared under Adam's feet as Alexia hurried to repeat after him. Even for them, the K4-Phantoms, falling from such a great height would not be without injury if they did not take precautions.

Soon, thick darkness replaced the light, followed by a flat surface reflecting the rare crystals around them.

Adam's eyes widened as they both plunged into the underground lake. The cold water made them shiver as they hurried to get out.

Splash!

They grabbed the edge, climbing onto the rocky shore.

"Shit!" Alexia exclaimed in anger. "Brrrh! I'm so cold!"

Adam didn't respond as his pupils narrowed.

Before Alexia could react, Adam lunged forward, landing in front of her. The white needle appeared in his hand as he swung it wide.

Slash!

The dark-blue leg flew off as Alexia stared at the large spider with blue chitin, eight legs, six glowing eyes, and green fangs.

The second spider was on the left, preparing to attack Adam, but he was ready for it. Without taking his eyes off the first spider, Adam extended his left arm to the side, opening his palm directly in front of the second spider's jaw.

The energy clustered in front of his palm before erupting in a devastating blast that tore the spider's head apart.

Step.

Adam stepped forward as his frame blurred into a swift blur.

The white blade sliced the first spider in two with a wide cleave as Adam found himself several meters ahead.

With a splash of blood flooding the cold ground, the two halves of the spider's body collapsed, ending the monster's life.

Adam stared at the second spider for a moment, and when he was sure both monsters were dead, he looked at Alexia.

"Are you okay?"

She nodded deeply as she frowned, staring intently at the spiders.

"What the hell was that?"

"I don't know, but it seems like they were waiting for us. Most likely, they sensed our auras or the tremors of the barrier and immediately rushed here."

Alexia walked forward, looking around.

"It seems like they were the only ones, right?"

There were several passages around them, indistinguishable from underground caves except that they had nearly been killed in the first minute at the Frost Oasis.

However, Adam and Alexia didn't need to guess where to go—it was obvious at first glance.

At the end of the middle passageway, a great stone gate awaited them, partially illuminated by two blue torches.

"Do you think it's a good idea to go there?" Alexia was wary. "Who knows what's behind those gates?"

Adam shook his head. "I doubt we can open them right away. Besides, look where our energy is leading us."

This made Alexia bite her lip. Adam was right. If they wanted to fulfill their conditions, they had to find out what was behind the gates.

"Come on, we should at least take a look. We need to understand what's going on here."

Step. Step. Step.

Adam strode forward confidently while Alexia watched their every step carefully.

For some reason, Adam was sure that no one else would attack them, at least not now.

'These two spiders just happened to be here, waiting for weak prey. But... where did they come from if these gates are closed? What awaits us in the other passages?'

Soon they stopped in front of the gates, and as soon as they got close enough, the blue flame from the torches became much stronger.

Alexia jumped back, ready to fight, but Adam remained in place, watching as a blue speck of light flew out of the ground, resembling a stray star or fairy.

"What is that?" Alexia frowned.

Strangely enough, she got her answer:

[The Phantoms, you have arrived at the Frost Oasis.]

A strange, mechanical voice came from the fairy as Adam remembered what it sounded like. During his duel against Anelez and Erada at the Tarnished Lands, he had heard the same thing.

'Is that... the ancient voice?'
