Chapter 1529: Glowing Tip
Chapter 1529: Glowing Tip
No matter what Adam and Alexia did, the blue spiders did not rush to attack them. They just watched from the sidelines, staying on the peaks, near the web and crystals, or hiding in the shadows of the cave walls.
But as soon as the trial began, the situation changed, and the spiders were ready to attack them.
Or were they?
"What the hell is that?" Alexia blinked several times as she tried to figure out if she was imagining things.
The spiders were actually moving toward them, there were dozens of them, and this was only the beginning.
However, none of these spiders was real. They looked like actual spiders, but their bodies were woven from energy.
"Are these... fucking ghosts?" Alexia frowned.
Adam narrowed his eyes as he watched the ghost spiders slowly approach them from all sides. Their movements and even their auras were no different from the real ones, except for one thing:
"I see. If we kill them, we’ll essentially just destroy a piece of energy, nothing else. The actual spiders were watching us from the sidelines and continue to do so."
Then, he raised his head as his eyes widened.
Thirty of the 600 sockets had already gone out, and with each passing second, another one went out.
’Ten minutes and 600 sockets? Each socket is just one second?’
There was little time left.
"Alexia, can you see the Glowing Tips?" Adam asked.
If they had to get 60 Glowing Tips, then on average, they had to get 1 tip every 10 seconds. Considering that there were two of them, each of them had to find 1 tip every 20 seconds. That was the minimum efficiency they could afford if they wanted to pass the trial.
However, they already had less than 600 seconds left.
"Nah, maybe it’s their legs?" Alexia pointed to the nearest spider. The tips of their legs were actually quite bright, dense with blue light from thick energy.
Adam shook his head.
"No, it can’t be that simple—"
Before he could finish, Alexia lunged forward, landing in front of the ghost spider.
Energy condensed in her fist as she destroyed the spider with a single strike. Even though its body was made of energy, it reacted to the blow naturally.
Crack.
One of the legs flew off as Alexia spun around and caught it.
"Hell yeah!" Alexia exclaimed happily. "One down! Only 59 to go!"
However, she didn’t see the joy on Adam’s face. He just pointed at the tip.
"Agh?"
Alexia’s face paled as the blue tip dissipated, disappearing before her eyes.
"No! No! No! It’s mine!" She tried to catch the fleeing energy, but to no avail.
It wasn’t what they needed. It wasn’t a Glowing Tip.
Tick. Tick. Tick.
Time was passing, and even though they had already lost 100 seconds and killed several dozen ghost spiders, they still hadn’t gotten a single Glowing Tip.
"Agh... Agh... Silvana, any ideas?"
Silvana shook her head.
"I don’t know. Maybe they’re hiding somewhere, or you need to fulfill some special conditions, or..."
Suddenly, a slight glint caught the corner of Adam’s eye, causing him to look up.
Near one of the eight stone peaks, a ghost spider stood quietly. It was no different from the others, except for one detail—the golden tip that looked like a horn growing out of its head.
With a speed that surprised even Alexia, Adam rushed forward, skimming along the water’s surface so as not to miss the spider.
The golden spider trembled, sensing the threat from a Phantom. The others noticed this as well and rushed to their fellow spider’s aid, but it was too late.
Slash!
Adam swung his needle, cutting the golden spider in two.
The golden tip flew up as Adam clutched it tightly, afraid of losing this treasure.
The blue tip in Alexia’s hands disappeared, turning into nothing, but the Glowing Tip trembled and became a bright star that headed for Adam’s arm, hovering next to his shoulder in a tiny amber orb.
One of the sixty Glowing Tips had been obtained.
Adam and Alexia exchanged glances. They tried to understand where this spider had come from, and then Adam had an idea.
He directed his energy to his eyes, trying to improve his vision as much as possible to see even the slightest fluctuations in energy.
As soon as this happened, he saw almost a dozen spiders with golden tips on their heads.
Silvana relayed the information to Louis, and he explained everything to Alexia. The whole process took only a few seconds, and now they could both see the hidden golden spiders.
Unlike the ghost spiders, the golden ones were not always visible, there were few of them, and they tried to hide their presence. They did not try to attack Adam and Alexia, as that was not their goal.
"I see. The ghost spiders are here just to distract us and nothing more. To waste our time. But how is that possible? Why didn’t we notice them for several minutes?"
Adam raised his head as he found the answer.
The spiral crystals on the eight peaks shone brightly, with electrical discharges running along them. Previously, this had been invisible, but as soon as the trial began, the spiral crystals covered the entire cave in an energy field.
This is what created the ghost spiders and gave the golden spiders their special qualities.
The first thing Adam thought of was to destroy the spiral crystals. Without them, the golden spiders would no longer be able to hide their presence.
However, as soon as Adam thought of this, he noticed the runes floating around the crystals. They appeared and disappeared, but it was obvious that each crystal was protected by the rules.
Several ghost spiders crept up behind Adam, but one swing of his needle turned them into swirling streams of energy.
"Hey, Alexia, we need to speed up."
He grinned.
"Are you ready to race?"
In response, her eyes flashed with a bright flame.
"Hell yeah!"
