Endless Evolution: Last Star

Chapter 1551 1551: Fake Arc

Chapter 1551 1551: Fake Arc

While Vaarh, Adam, and Alexia were talking after he woke up, other, but no less important, events were taking place on the surface.

The first to notice this was, oddly enough, the Head Golem.

The barrier he had guarded for many years was gone, as was the Ancient Voice that had given him instructions all these years.

Now, all of that was gone.

The Head Golem knew what that meant. The owner of the Frost Oasis had awakened and moved on to the final battle.

"I see..." The Head Golem's hoarse voice rang out as he looked into the distance. "So they did it and made it to the end? After all those who tried to do it, do they really have a chance of winning?"

The Head Golem remembered Adam's words and Alexia's actions. They looked like two arrogant Phantoms who had only just learned to use the Ancient Energy here, which was the minimum required to pass through the barrier.

Now, they had shown that it wasn't just words, but their goal, and they had almost achieved it.

Tremble. Tremble. Tremble.

The earth shook when several ice worms revealed themselves. Before, they had not approached the abyss, knowing that the barrier would not allow them to enter, but now everything had changed.

They and many wild beasts descending from the mountains were going to take part in the coming battle.

Sure, before they reached the abyss, many of them would attack each other, but that was the whole point.

Only the strongest would survive, and only he would receive all the rewards.

Why did Vaarh do this?

One would rather not take any risks and keep the Ancient Voice with barriers instead of putting himself at the center of a new battle.

Vaarh was confident in his victory over Adam and Alexia, he had his reasons, but he was not a stupid, arrogant bastard who did not understand the limits of his powers.

Once, he had almost died and survived only because he did everything right.

Now, he was going to do the same.

After his battle against Adam and Alexia, he would surely be wounded, perhaps slightly, perhaps critically.

In such a situation, dozens of monsters killed in battle with each other would be an excellent source of energy for him.

This was his chance to get a fast start instead of waiting months or even longer for his wounds to heal.

So, before it was too late, the Head Golem had to make a decision. He could be the first to go into the abyss and try his luck, or...

Thump.

The Head Golem stepped forward.

Then, again and again.

In just a few steps, he reached the middle of the snowy expanse, his gaze directed upward toward the top of Frost Ridge, which should offer the best view of the territory and the battlefield.

Ahead, a pack of white wolves ran toward him, similar to those Adam had killed for their last dinner right here at the barrier.

The wolves were strong enough to give the Head Golem a decent fight, but...

Whoooosh. Whooosh. Whooosh.

They just rushed past him like white ghosts. They saw no desire to fight in him, which meant he was not their enemy.

Now, the Head Golem, a monster made of stone and energy that had guarded the barrier for decades, had only one goal. He wanted to enjoy the view and feel what life was like, not work.

...

'Adam,' Silvana's voice rang in Adam's head as Vaarh approached them. 'I think I understand what we need to do.'

'Agh? Speak quickly!' Adam exclaimed internally as he summoned his needle. Alexia prepared for battle as well.

Silvana bit her lip, her gaze fixed on Vaarh's exposed neck.

'I doubt there's a single drop of blood in the dragon's head. If we want to win, you have to get his blood. I think his blood is the Blood of God, your condition.'

Adam nodded deeply. He agreed with Silvana. He had no other suggestions.

'So, you're suggesting I somehow get his blood?'

At that moment, Silvana's eyes filled with darkness and cruelty.

'Yes. Sink your fangs right into his neck, like a wild beast. Do whatever it takes to win!'

Silvana always wanted the best for Adam, but she had never resorted to such words before.

"Hah," Adam grinned. He liked that. "Got it!"

Step.

Vaarh stopped when he reached out his hand to the side.

The energy condensed in his grasp, momentarily forming the shape of a long weapon.

Adam and Alexia's eyes widened. They knew what it was—it was the Arc, the weapon of the Lords. Only at this level did the monsters receive their personal weapon, something that every Phantom had had from the beginning.

The Nexus and the Arc had differences, but at such a high level as the Second Circle, they were two sides of the same coin.

Adam and Alexia's hearts sank with fear. If Vaarh was capable of summoning the Arc, then he was far stronger than they were.

Suddenly, a tremor ran through Vaarh's arm as his pupils narrowed.

The weapon shape shuddered before dissipating into streams of energy that rushed past Vaarh's shocked eyes.

He couldn't summon his Arc. His confusion was genuine. He had lost what he had always been able to do, just at will.

However, he quickly realized his mistake.

"I see... Have I really become that weak?" Vaarh shook his head before turning and stepping aside.

Adam blinked as Vaarh appeared on the other side of the devastated pond.

He had another way to get his weapon.

Even though Vaarh was here, at the Frost Oasis, frost was not his primary power. His abilities ran deeper and possessed a sharpness.

Clutch.

Without hesitation, Vaarh squeezed the pupil of the large blue eye of his former body and plunged his hand inside to reach the lens of the eye.

The blue eye trembled before quickly losing its light and shrinking into a gray mass resembling cold metal. The energy from the eye became a long shaft, while the lens of the eye became a crystal-shaped blade at the tip of his weapon.

Whoooooosh.

Vaarh swung his spear, sending gusts of wind toward Adam and Alexia, who were on the other side.

Now, he was ready for battle. His fake Arc was ready.
