Chapter 1557: Eternal Cold (Part 1)

The Iron.

That was the only thing Vaarh had shown so far, along with a few sharp slashes he could make with his claws, which were also made of iron, just like his spear.

Adam and Alexia still didn’t know exactly what their enemy was capable of, but with each of Vaarh’s actions, they understood that Vaarh was not limited to just one element like most monsters.

The gray wind was his ally, and now the white lightning had come to his aid as well.

Rumble. Rumble. Rumble.

The rumble of thunder echoed across the sky as Vaarh’s spear filled with white lightning.

Without pity in his eyes, Vaarh aimed his spear directly at Adam, who had not yet recovered from what had happened.

Vaarh’s reason for attacking Adam was quite simple.

If he could get rid of Adam right here and now, before he figured out what to do, then he would be left 1 vs. 1 against Alexia. In that situation, Vaarh couldn’t see how he could lose.

"ADAM!" Alexia exclaimed as the white mist appeared around her.

Before the thunderbolt could reach Adam, a giant ice axe appeared above him. Its sole purpose was to absorb the power of the white lightning.

Crack. Crack. Crack.

The ice axe shattered into pieces as Adam jumped aside at the last moment.

The thunder strike raised waves of snow, leaving a deep crater in the ground.

"Shit, that was powerful!" Adam exclaimed, looking at Vaarh, who towered majestically above them.

Vaarh didn’t throw his spear at them, he just pointed it at the target, and the white lightning followed his call.

In a panic, Alexia’s eyes darted from side to side.

When the enemy was so far away, she had no real way to do anything about it. She didn’t have the right abilities.

Sure, Alexia could try to throw the ice weapons at the Vaarh or reach him by jumping across the energy platforms, but that was too risky and ineffective even for a reckless Phantom like her.

She thought too long.

The power of the storm filled Vaarh’s spear again as he aimed his weapon directly at Adam.

However, this time, Adam wasn’t going to run away.

He didn’t know what he had to do to get one of the conditions. He didn’t even know what the condition was.

But, now that wasn’t his priority.

’What difference does it make what condition awaits me here if his next attack turns me into a pile of ashes?!’

The white gloves covered his hands as the white spear appeared in his hand.

’I don’t need to dodge his attack. It will be enough to destroy his spear with mine!’

Whooooooooosh.

Adam threw the white spear straight into the lightning. The speed of the two white projectiles turned out to be the same, as they collided midway.

A bright flash swept across the frost ridge, followed by a devastating explosion of pure flame.

The wind currents spread around, and only Vaarh’s intense gaze remained unchanged.

It seemed that he expected Adam to find a response to his attack. Moreover, Vaarh realized that he was losing this battle.

’To strike him with lightning, I am expending a tremendous amount of energy. At the same time, he created his spear as easily as snapping his fingers. Hmm...’

His gaze swept across the snowy expanse, looking at the sleeping monsters on the battlefield and in the mountains.

’If I want to guarantee victory, I must change my strategy.’

Vaarh waved his hand as the thunder changed its direction. Instead of attacking Adam and Alexia, the lightning began to strike the edges of Frost Ridge.

Bam! Bam! Bam!

With each strike, the monsters trembled and were forced to move closer to the center.

With his actions, Vaarh narrowed the battlefield into a circle. His lightning deliberately missed every monster. He did this on purpose.

He had no intention of killing or injuring them; he just wanted to use them for his own purposes. Nothing more.

In an instant, silence fell.

The thunder strikes ceased, but Vaarh had already moved on to his next move.

Tremble. Tremble. Tremble.

His aura trembled as two majestic energy wings unfolded behind him, large enough to capture the attention of every monster without exception.

The wolves, beasts, lizards, snow bulls, and many other monsters all stared at Vaarh, who forced them to look at him.

He said nothing. He knew there was no need.

All he had to do was point his spear at Adam.

That was enough.

The monsters did not know what awaited them if they refused to obey this order.

Would they receive a reward, or would Vaarh unleash the wrath of his thunder upon them?

They did not want to take the risk.

No matter how strong Adam was, he had no chance against hundreds of Black Threat Monsters. Even if he killed a few dozen or a hundred, he would eventually run out of strength, and the monsters would tear him to pieces.

"Grh!"

"RGH!"

"Rark!"

The aggressive growls came from all sides, causing Adam’s eyes to widen.

Before he could even realize it, a multitude of shadows pounced on him. Some of the monsters were driven by fear, others wanted to prove their importance to Vaarh.

None of that mattered, because Vaarh had achieved his goal — all the monsters that had arrived here after the barrier fell now pounced on Adam.

"ADAM!" Alexia exclaimed as she appeared before him with a cold gust of wind.

Whoooooosh.

The ice sword threw the first wave of monsters aside, but none of them died. All Alexia had achieved was to buy Adam a little time.

Clang!

Alexia turned around as her eyes widened. Adam’s needle collided with the fangs of the snow beast, sparks flying in all directions.

Two white wolves approached from the side, digging their claws into the frozen ground.

There were too many monsters, and Alexia couldn’t drive them all away from Adam.

’Louis, we have to do this right now!’ She exclaimed inwardly.

Without hesitation, Louis nodded deeply and directed all his energy towards Alexia.

Her eyes shone brightly, the outlines of a new power visible deep in the darkness.

It was time for her to show what the Ancient Frost, the power she had received, was capable of.
