Chapter 1590 1590: First Knight of the World End
Chapter 1590 1590: First Knight of the World End
Adam and Liliane were enemies. She had come here to carry out her orders and capture or kill him. Still, now they were in the same situation.
They expected to see a simple weapon when Goen summoned his Nexus. Sure, they understood that it had to be something powerful, something that matched his level of strength.
But... they had more questions than answers.
Where did Arika come from? Was she Goen's Operator? If she were his Operator, why did his Nexus depend on her? How could she appear here in her physical body, and did it really happen?
Adam had no answers to any of these questions, only assumptions and theories.
Moreover, now, he was thinking not about Arika, but about Goen's title.
'First Knight of the World End?' Adam thought as he turned to Silvana. 'Do you know anything about this?'
Silvana was just as shocked as he was, maybe even more. She couldn't help but imagine herself in Arika's place because she was an Operator just like her.
'No, I knew Goen was hiding something. But I couldn't have guessed any of this. His Nexus, this girl, and... what does it all mean?'
She bit her lip until it bled.
"He's a human, and he has a title? We know how rare that is, but even his title doesn't seem normal. Why is it so long? First Knight? World End? What does that even mean?"
Their minds were in complete chaos, and the same was true for Alexia and Louis.
Liliane and the fifth team also had questions. Their miss hadn't warned them about anything like this.
It wasn't that that scared them, but the fact that they were the Lords, and for them it was as much of a shock as it was for Adam and Alexia, who were the K4-Phantoms.
"Captain!" The pale man exclaimed as a round shadow appeared on the ground behind Goen.
Before Liliane could say anything, the pale man leaped out of the shadow, holding his sword tightly with both hands. He was going to pierce Goen's neck.
"We must continue to fight! We must kill this demon!"
Liliane's eyes widened as she threw her arm forward. "No, you must—!"
SLASH!
Goen swung his sword. It was a simple, smooth, and quick swing.
BLAST!
Nothing remained of the pale man but a bloody trail, two lines of blood hanging in the air, all that was left of his body.
A hurricane-like gust of wind blew sideways, shaking the tops of the bare branches. The clouds floating peacefully in the blue sky were split in two, as if a giant had swung his sword, capable of cutting through a mountain with the same ease as a log.
"That was the second one." Goen leaned forward as his muscles tensed.
Liliane's eyes filled with horror as she waved her hand.
"My order is to retreat! Now!"
Crash!
Goen's leap left a crater in the ground as he raced past her eyes, ending up in front of the blue-haired girl and the red-haired girl.
They raised their heads in fear, staring at the knight towering above them.
"Stay where you are?" Goen said. "That's even better."
He clenched his fist and slammed it into the blue-haired girl. From the sheer force, her head exploded as the red-haired girl could only slowly turn around. She wanted to escape this nightmare, but she couldn't.
"RUN!" The axe man shouted at the top of his lungs. He lunged forward in an effort to help her.
It was already too late.
Goen's hand grabbed the red-haired girl by the back of her neck. With his strength, he could easily choke her or break her neck, but his goal was different.
Hardly any of them were prepared for such a level of cruelty.
Crack. Crack. Crack.
To the sound of tearing flesh and skin, Goen ripped the spine right out of the red-haired girl while she was still alive.
Without hesitation, he spun around and, using the spine, swung it, cutting the axe man in two, as well as a dozen meters of ground in front of him, leaving a wide rift.
At that moment, everything became clear to everyone. Now, only death awaited them.
Farko and Liliane exchanged glances.
They didn't need to say anything as they both used all the energy they had to flee as far away from the battlefield as possible.
Step. Step. Step.
Farko ran as fast as he could, not knowing where to, but as far away as possible. His mind was in a panic.
'Fuck! Fuck! Fuck! Faster! I have to get out of here, otherwise—!'
Puff!
A puff of smoke appeared in front of him as Goen took a step forward.
"Agh?" Farko was confused when Goen's fist slammed into his face.
BLAST!
The bloody explosion left only Farko's feet behind. Now, the only surviving member of the fifth team was Liliane.
In a blue flash, she moved through the forest, already having run more than a kilometer.
For some reason, Goen did not pursue her.
Had he decided to spare her?
Tap.
He released his sword as his weapon hung in the air.
"Go ahead. The last one for you."
The sword rose upward, soaring through the sky, where Liliane was clearly visible despite her speed.
Whooooooosh.
The sword spun around and crashed down at Liliane at tremendous speed.
"W-Wha...?"
All Liliane had time to do was turn around. The blade reflected in her eyes, ending her life in the next instant.
Goen nodded slightly and disappeared again in a puff of smoke. The sword returned to his grasp, covered in Liliane's blood. He didn't need to see her death, he knew it had happened because her aura had disappeared.
It seemed that everything was over, but Goen did not approach Adam and Alexia.
Someone else deserved his attention more right now.
Step.
Goen took a step forward as he stopped in front of the Old Horn.
"It seems you finally remember me."
The Old Horn frowned as he touched his broken horn.
"Yeah, how could I forget? Your eyes... crystal-clear and black hair. It's you, Goen."
Goen nodded as he swung his sword.
His eyes grew deeper.
"It seems it's time to end this and take your second horn."
