Chapter 1621 1621: Brother and Sister's Hunt

Morok made what was probably the best decision possible — retreat.

He didn't know what had happened at the mansion, but considering that Keranda was there and the auras of the girl and the young man had disappeared, he understood what the answer was.

Step. Step. Step.

Only the three of them remained, and they had to do everything in their power to survive.

"Boss!" The muscular man exclaimed, the jungle trees rushing past his face. "We can cross the canyon. That's where another clan's territory begins! They wouldn't dare destroy their own land!"

Morok had his doubts about this plan, but they had no other choice.

"Good. In that case, let's go there. Fighting Zargos and Keranda at the same time makes no sense. If our elders want to get rid of Adam Vinter once and for all, they need to take a much more serious approach."

The woman bit her lip almost to the point of bleeding.

"That bitch... She just showed up and changed everything! FUCK! The day will come when I tear that bitch to pieces!"

In fact, the Befallen Crown sent far more forces than usual to destroy Adam. If the Befallen Crown saw a threat in a Phantom, one or two assassins working as a team was usually enough.

Cases where an entire team was sent to kill a K4-Phantom, as happened with Liliane and the fifth team, were rare. Even rarer were cases where a Phantom remained alive after two different squads tried to kill him and failed.

On the one hand, this was good for Adam, as he remained alive and had many allies ready to defend him, for one reason or another.

But the next time he found himself within reach of the Befallen Crown, they would send a monster so powerful that no one would be able to help him.

This thought would stay with him for a long time, until it happened and he met his end, or until he became strong enough to no longer worry about it.

A tremor passed through the air, causing the three of them to turn around as the woman's eyes widened.

"What the…?"

Keranda, her face calm, moved behind them, bouncing off the air as if it were a wall. On her feet were tall black-iron boots with purple energy pulses running along their sharp edges.

Every time her speed dropped even slightly, she caused a gravitational surge. The purple pulse rippled through the air, making her much faster and shaking the space around her.

"Wait, she wants to—!"

Before the woman could finish her sentence, Keranda appeared between her and the muscular man.

With a cold, cruel look in her eyes, she grabbed their shoulders and pressed down with all her might.

TREMBLE. TREMBLE. TREMBLE.

The pressure that came down on them seemed like it could break all their bones.

"ARGH!" Blood gushed out of the muscular man's mouth.

Unfortunately for them, this was only the beginning.

"No one leaves here. This is our territory and our rules."

BAM!

In one swift motion, Keranda slammed their heads into the ground, leaving two trails behind from the heavy fall.

Morok turned around, gathering darkness around him. He had to help them. He had already lost two members of his team.

"Not so fast!"

Zargos exclaimed as he appeared right in front of Morok. His bright flame drove away Morok's darkness.

"You know, my sister always strives to fight the strongest and most dangerous opponents, but today it's my turn!"

BAM!

The flaming blast threw Morok aside. His darkness tried to recover, but the crimson fire mercilessly burned it, preventing it from returning to a combat state.

Like a falling star, Morok crashed into the jungle trees until he hit a rock.

"GHA!" He gasped in pain as the fiery fist reflected in his eyes.

The darkness protected him from the first strike as sparks flew before Zargos's amber eyes. Now that they were alone, Zargos could show his full power.

"Hahaha! What's wrong, Morok? Don't you like being hunted?"

BAM! BAM! BAM!

One flaming punch after another rained down on Morok, and all he could do was defend and dodge, unable to strike back.

"Bastard...!" Morok gritted his teeth as he narrowed his eyes. "You don't know what you're doing! You and your entire clan are nothing compared to the Befallen Crown!"

He shouted, creating a dome of darkness around himself, forcing Zargos to fly back.

"Agh... Agh... Agh..." Morok breathed heavily, burns covering his entire body, and only a small part of his darkness remained.

Before his evolution, Zargos would have had a hard time fighting Morok on equal terms, but now they were on different levels. He didn't lose when it was a 1 vs. 3 fight, so now, Morok didn't stand a chance.

His only hope was that his mates would help him, but for that, they would have to defeat Keranda, and... that was unlikely.

Whoooooooosh.

Someone's body flew out from the side, breaking through the wide jungle leaves. Then, another shadow flew out from the same direction.

Two bodies fell not far from Morok, before his eyes.

His face turned pale.

The muscular man was not injured, except that his heart had been torn out with such force that his ribs were visible.

The woman had suffered a more brutal fate. Most of her bones were broken, and her neck was twisted to the point that her flesh was torn.

They were both dead. Even their auras were gone, indicating that they could not be helped.

Step. Step. Step.

Heavy footsteps echoed from the side as Keranda's silhouette appeared.

Her breathing was calm and steady, her face was covered in blood, and her gaze was cold.

She did not see these two as equal opponents. For her, it was no different from hunting beasts, no, even worse, from getting rid of parasites.

"What now, Morok?" she asked. "I'm sure you understand that my brother still has a lot of energy, unlike you. Even without my help, he will turn you to ash."

Morok grimaced, he knew it was true.

Fortunately for him, as the leader of one of the teams, he had something special.

'I'll have to use it to escape. To hell with it. I did everything I could!'
