Chapter 1672 1672: Quiet Servant (Part 2)
Chapter 1672 1672: Quiet Servant (Part 2)
There were countless monsters at the Pit, far more than in other parts of the Hollow Lands. It wasn't just because of the variety of structures there, but primarily because of the Frenzied Shards.
The strongest monsters in the Hollow Lands were found at the Pillars, or even had their own, like Kaerno.
If a monster wanted to obtain a Hollow Mark and significantly increase its chances of becoming a Fang, it had to go to the Pit.
One day, Larth arrived at the Pit, found a Frenzied Shard, and devoured it, thereby obtaining his Hollow Mark.
Many monsters preferred to use a hybrid approach: they didn't take such a big risk and instead made a pact with the Frenzied Shard. These monsters belonged to neither of the two factions and patiently drew energy from their Frenzied Shard, drop by drop.
It might have seemed like a cowardly tactic, but it was a safe and effective approach. Sarka and Adam would never have become anyone's servant for the sake of power, but many monsters were willing to go along with it.
Thus, the Frenzied Servants came into being.
Usually, a servant patrolling the area farthest from the Frenzied Shard would quickly attack and destroy any monsters posing a threat.
That was exactly what the first servant was about to do. He noticed two new auras coming from the Hollow Lands.
However, he did not attack. It wasn't about Sarka, but about Adam. Encountering a Phantom at the Pit was a great rarity and definitely bad news.
But, in truth, the first servant should have been wary not of him, but of someone else.
Tremble. Tremble. Tremble.
Sarka's aura intensified as a blue, active flame burst from her body.
"Alright, let's grab him first and then decide what to do!"
It wasn't the best plan. That's exactly why Adam liked it.
"Yes."
Step.
They stepped forward, and both vanished.
In a blue flash, Sarka darted forward, bouncing off nearby debris to gain speed.
The first servant's eyes darted from side to side, tracking her movements, as he failed to notice the approach of the second enemy.
Tap.
Adam's hand landed on the first servant's shoulder. He found himself right in front of the monster.
"Hey, she said you usually run away." Adam raised his fist to strike. "If I were you, that's exactly what I'd do, but it's too late for you to change anything now."
BAM!
At the last moment, the first servant crossed his arms in front of his chest, blocking the blow.
The impact sent the first servant flying off the giant mirror as a blue flash reflected off the shattered fragments.
Sarka was approaching from the left, and unlike Adam, she had gathered enough power to finish it all with a single hit.
"Look here, you bastard!!!" She shouted, heading toward the first servant with a blue stream of fire.
Strangely enough, the first servant continued to resist. The fact that a Frenzied Shard had made a contract with him spoke volumes about his strength.
Tap.
Grasping the edge of the ruined building, the first servant swung his arm, creating an iron shield in front of him.
However, this only brought a mocking smirk to Sarka's face.
"Are you a fool? Do you think this shield will help you?!"
Adam stopped on the nearest piece of debris. He was sure that Sarka would easily end this fight right here and now, until a shiver ran through his body.
'Wait… This shield, why is it such a strange shape?'
Only now did Adam notice the hollow in the very center of the shield.
It was strange. There was a gap in the most vulnerable spot. It couldn't be a coincidence.
"Shit! Sarka, that bastard, he's up to something–!"
Before Adam could respond, the first servant struck his shield with his palm.
The long, iron spear materialized with a bright flash, shooting straight at Sarka at tremendous speed.
It was an instantaneous attack that lasted no more than a fraction of a second. Even if Adam had been ready for this attack, he would have barely been able to dodge it completely. Most likely, he would have suffered a cut or even a deeper wound.
But Sarka's expression didn't change at all. She just grinned wider and didn't even try to dodge.
TREMBLE!
Just before the spear was about to pierce Sarka's head, she clenched her teeth, her sharp fangs clearly visible.
At the same moment, her flame suddenly grew several times stronger, like the tremor of an engine finally running at full power instead of just warming up. It was a sharp, almost instantaneous surge.
Halting before her pupil, the spear turned to nothing. The sheer power of Sarka's flame tore the spear to pieces, its shadow vanishing in the bright light.
The first servant's eyes widened as he prepared to flee.
Clutch!
Suddenly, something grabbed him by the wrist, arm, and shoulder.
The first servant raised his head only to see Sarka's wild gaze.
"You have nowhere to run, bastard!"
BAM!
In a sudden lurch, Sarka and the first servant crashed to the ground as a cloud of dust rose.
Adam shielded his eyes with his hand before leaping forward. He had no time to wait for the smoke veil to settle.
There was a crack as the brutal scene was reflected in Adam's eyes.
Without hesitation, Sarka tore off the first servant's left arm. She did it in a single sweeping swing.
BAM!
The ironclad arm slammed into the glass column, shattering it into pieces.
"GRH!!!" The first servant tried to resist as the light in his eyes grew exceptionally bright.
An amber pulse ran along his shoulder.
His second arm, like a deadly blade, aimed straight for Sarka's eye, faster than a flash.
Whooooosh!
Sarka jerked her head to the side as the first servant's arm swept past her neck on the right. His sharp claws left two cuts on her neck.
"You really are a fool, aren't you?"
She lifted her chin as a shadow hid her menacing silhouette, leaving only her bright blue eyes visible.
"You wounded me. Now I have no choice but to devour you to heal my wounds!!!"
In a heartbeat, her claws shot toward the first servant's neck, slicing through the air. The first servant couldn't dodge from his position. Sarka was pressing him firmly to the ground.
Tap.
Suddenly, her hand stopped, but not of her own volition.
"Enough."
Adam's voice rang out from above as he looked at Sarka, who now resembled a hungry beast more than a proud monster.
