Endless Evolution: Last Star

Chapter 1755: The Last Condition (Part 1)

Chapter 1755: The Last Condition (Part 1)

No matter how important and unique this Grim Court might be, the battle was over.

The spectators would remember this day for a long time to come. Very soon, every monster who had missed the battle would hear all the details from their friends and allies.

This was the Grim Court where a Phantom, as well as Zin, had taken part. Perhaps they would never again witness a Phantom facing off against an unranked monster. Zin held a special place, but like any other fighter, he could have only one first battle.

Zin and Adam were both seriously wounded and had almost no energy left. With their attacks, they could have reduced the hills to nothing, but by the end of the battle, they could barely stand on their feet.

In fact, they didn’t even have the strength to return to their pillars, and when most of the spectators had left the arena, Adam and Zin collapsed to the ground, unconscious.

Sure, they had a lot to discuss, just as Kaerno, Es’aha, and Leerna did among themselves. For the three of them, this battle was also something new. Even for the Fingers, something interesting happened in the world from time to time.

...

Twitch. Twitch. Twitch.

A few hours later, Adam’s facial muscles twitched as he slowly opened his eyes.

"Ahg... Where the hell am I?" he muttered, looking around.

He wasn’t in the arena or in bed, but in a square marble tub filled with a white liquid resembling the water at the Bone Lakes, only in a much higher concentration.

A slight pain and burning sensation still radiated through Adam’s muscles, but to his surprise, he discovered that all his wounds had healed. Even his gruesome wounds on his shoulder and chest, not a trace of them remained.

"Well, that was to be expected, right?" Adam raised his hand, watching as droplets ran down it. "I’ve only restored about 30% of my energy. That should be more than enough for any task except combat. That means... no more than six hours have passed?"

At that moment, Adam was shocked. Not only by how little time his recovery had taken, but by how effective that white liquid had been.

Glancing to the side, Adam easily determined that he was at the far end of Kaerno’s pillar and not at the Bone Lakes.

A wide cut ran through the western wall, serving as a window offering a view of the Hollow Lands.

Next to the square bathtub stood a nightstand and a simple chair on which Adam’s clothes lay: the robe he had been wearing before Kaerno suggested he put on something more suitable for combat.

The crimson coat formed by his gloves retained its shape only as long as Adam used his Nexus.

He didn’t have to discard his old clothes every time, as he had done in the arena. No, the blood could cover them like a layer, temporarily altering his clothes.

Soon, Adam’s eyes fell on a simple iron door. The door’s pillars weren’t everywhere. Many passageways and halls were always open. The arches simply stood empty, allowing every monster to go wherever it wanted.

There was no need for doors or gates since a monster wouldn’t go where it didn’t have access.

Adam woke up, so he should have left the bathroom and found Kaerno or at least someone he knew, but he didn’t rush.

"Ha... It’s not so bad here. Who would have thought that in such empty lands there are so many places where you can relax?"

The water was still warm, steam wafted past his face, and the silence of the Hollow Lands worked perfectly for his recovery.

Before continuing on, he had one unfinished business.

Sigh.

With a deep sigh, Adam closed his eyes, immersing himself in his inner space.

He glanced at the Divine Touch, at the two red gloves that had taken their place in the sockets right at the center of the Evolution Tree, altering even the bark around them.

Step.

Adam stepped forward as he appeared before the Divine Touch.

At his will, the runes flared before him.

[Divine Touch

Your Nexus, your weapon, has come a long way with you, and now it has absorbed a special blood, the blood belonging to a being many are ready to call their God. Your weapon has returned to the very beginning of your journey, but with a new power previously beyond your reach.

Use the red threads and blood to create cuts, weapons, and destructive rivers that will destroy all obstacles in your path. Every one of your touches now carries the divine threat if that is your will.]

Such a description could not help but bring a smile to Adam’s face.

At the very beginning of his journey, he had heard the voice of the Evolution Tree explaining every detail of his abilities to him. Now, the Path Construct had taken on that role, though it was still merely a mechanical voice that appeared in his mind from time to time.

’I wonder if the Path Construct will ever become something more than just a tool for my evolution?’ Adam mused with a slight smile, looking at the Evolution Tree.

It was unknown whether he would ever get an answer to this question, but it was clear to him that if it happened, it would be closer to the Second Rank. Right now, he wasn’t strong enough for that.

"Still, I’ve done a lot of work, haven’t I?"

Adam blinked as he found himself right in front of the Path Construct.

The two bright stars greeted him along with several smaller ones, but all his attention was on the third one, which had not yet received its light.

He had to fulfill one more condition to complete the Third Grand Star.

Tap.

Adam touched the void as a tremor ran through the darkness before special, glowing runes full of his energy appeared before him.

[Third Grand Star (Star #5)

Highest Bliss: 1/1

Blood of God: 1/1

Bottomless Void: 0/1]
