Endless Evolution: Last Star

Chapter 1835: Let’s Leave Together

Chapter 1835: Let’s Leave Together

Strange as it may seem, neither Lakma nor Adam expected what happened to happen.

Right up until the very last moment, this wasn’t part of Adam’s plan.

When he saw the Glass Root and realized that Lakma was simply the energy of the deceased real Lakma, a simple strategy formed in his mind.

If he defeated Lakma, he would take the Glass Root, and that would be the end of it.

Now, from Lakma’s words, Adam knew that four Phantoms before him had tried to do the same thing. However, none of them had been strong enough. Lakma’s energy had defeated each of them, and even for Adam, this fight was no easy task.

He couldn’t defeat Lakma fairly. The only way was to wear her down, which is what he’d been doing for most of their fight.

But the more he thought about Lakma’s nature, the more sadness crept into his mind. He blocked and dodged her attacks on reflex, which gave him enough time to consider various scenarios.

At one point, Adam realized something:

“It will all end when Lakma’s energy runs out, but who says it has to be her inglorious death?”

Then, Adam decided there had to be another option, and to his surprise, he found it rather quickly.

“Is… Is that true…?” Lakma mumbled through her tears as she looked up. “Can you take me to the real world?”

Adam nodded.

“I’ve never done this before, but that’s actually a good thing.”

“H-How so?” Lakma asked, her voice trembling. Maybe she was just energy, but her emotions and anxiety were more than real.

“Well, that means you’ll be a special case.” Adam shrugged, patting her on the head. “After all, Lakma was just as much a Phantom as I am, and our power levels are practically the same. Pretty soon, I’ll even surpass hers.”

Lakma didn’t say anything. She just gripped Adam’s shirt tighter.

“Outside this inner space, nothing is waiting for you. You don’t want to admit it, but with the next World Wipe, it’ll all be over.”

“But…” Lakma bit her lip. “If I’m in your inner space, you’ll protect me from the World Wipe, won’t you?”

Adam nodded.

“Of course. I’m strong, and I plan to stop the World Wipe once and for all. For my family, for Silvana, for you, and for everyone who wants to live in our world.”

“Then…”

Lakma tried to put on as serious an expression as possible, but with her face red from tears, it was nearly impossible.

“I want to help you achieve that goal.”

“Good.”

Adam looked at her, then pointed to the Glass Root in the distance.

“Do you want to do this together? After all, this is your home.”

Doubt still lingered in Lakma’s eyes, but with some effort, she nodded.

“Yes. You’re right… I’ve been in this place for too long.”

Their frames trembled as they appeared next to the Glass Root, in the middle of Lakma’s dead Evolution Tree.

All that remained in this world was energy and the Glass Root. Everything else, just like Lakma, had long since disappeared.

‘Hey, you’ll help me, right?’ Adam asked mentally, as he approached the Glass Root alongside Lakma.

Strange as it may seem, he quickly received a reply from the other side.

“Sure.” The Silver Weaver nodded. “Lone Blaze and I will help her energy become part of your inner space.”

“Good.”

Step.

Adam stepped forward as he touched the Glass Root.

A powerful energy pulse coursed through his body via his hand, causing his eyes to shine brightly and his hair to stand on end.

Lakma glanced at him and hurried to do the same, gripping the Glass Root tightly. It was hard for her to do, but she knew there was no other choice.

It was the right thing to do.

Tremble! Tremble! Tremble!

A powerful current of energy surged toward them again and again, splitting between their bodies. The Glass Root was releasing all its energy outward, and Adam and Lakma were the only available vessels.

Adam had no problems at all. He felt a surge of strength and vitality, but for Lakma, things weren’t going so well.

Crack. Crack. Crack.

Cracks ran down her arms, her legs trembled, and her teeth chattered. She was barely coping with the pressure.

After all, she was only a part of this energy and couldn’t absorb even half of it.

Tap.

Adam took her hand, and she spun around sharply at his touch.

“It’ll be okay. I’ll take your burden upon myself.”

He did.

Lakma immediately felt better as the energy flowed through her to Adam. She received only a small portion, about 30–40%, of the Glass Root’s energy.

This continued until the Glass Root lost all its light, leaving only a black, empty branch at the very center of the dead Evolution Tree.

At that very moment, the inner space began to crumble.

Cracks ran through the far reaches as the world shattered into large fragments, beyond which lay only a blinding light.

Under normal circumstances, this would have meant the end for Lakma. As soon as the light reached her, she would vanish.

But now she had hope.

“Take me with you! Do it!” Lakma exclaimed confidently, stepping in front of Adam.

Adam looked at his hand, smiled faintly, and nodded.

“Sure. I keep my promises.”

Tap.

He placed his palm on her chest, and the energy vortex opened.

Lakma closed her eyes as she shattered into a myriad of bright particles that vanished into the vortex, heading straight for Adam’s inner space.

“Gha…”

Adam sighed, watching his inner space crumble as a smile spread across his face.

“Huh, sometimes it’s pretty good to end a fight not with a kill but with an alliance. That’s a victory too, a special one.”

As the last fragments fell, a bright flash blinded Adam, bringing him back to the real world.

[You… You’re back…]

The King Elemental’s deep voice rang out as he sensed the changes in Adam’s aura.

Adam slowly opened his eyes, holding the Glass Root, the real one, in his hand.

“Yeah, I managed to do it.”

His gaze was fixed on Lakma’s crystal the moment he saw the first crack.
