Endless Evolution: Last Star

Chapter 1844: The Shattered Tree

Chapter 1844: The Shattered Tree

At last, Adam saw Amelia’s father, as his goal was to save him somehow.

Adam realized that, for some reason, these particular monsters were a single family and the nobles of Varreyn. Thus, Adam assumed that the father and mother were the most important ones. That was usually the case.

But… Amelia’s words and actions showed that this was not the case at all.

“Y-You…” The woman clenched her teeth. “How dare you speak to your mother like that?”

However, Amelia didn’t respond. Instead, she turned to Adam and pointed at the woman.

“Mr. Adam, this is my mother, Romara von Grad.”

Then, she looked at the man lying in bed as her gaze softened.

“This is the one I’m asking you to save. This is my father, Vador von Grad.”

Adam glanced at Romara.

“Looks like relations in your family aren’t the best. Huh, but I don’t blame you, it’s the same with all noble families. A total shit show.” He chuckled.

Romara was about to say something, but when her eyes fell on Adam, she realized she recognized this young man.

“You’re… Adam Vinter, right? Amelia, why did you bring him here?” Romara narrowed her eyes. “This Phantom isn’t known for his healing abilities – don’t you know that?!”

Amelia nodded deeply. “Sure. But I have a plan, and I was hoping you could work with me. Now, Mother, don’t interfere with my guest and me, or I’ll have to punish you.”

No matter how unbearable and brazen Amelia might sound, even among noble monsters, one rule always applied, the stronger one was right.

Clutch.

Romara clenched her fists as her nails dug into her palms, causing trickles of blood to flow.

“Bitch. What else will you do to destroy our family?”

Amelia’s gaze darted toward her like a sharp dagger.

“I’ll save our family, and even failures like Markol will benefit from it.”

“Don’t you dare speak of your brother that way! Even if he doesn’t possess the same power as you, he’s still part of the family! You and he share the same legacy!”

“Weaklings can only be servants, not equals.” Amelia’s cold voice rang out as she took a step to the side.

She leaned forward, pointing at Vador.

“Please, come forward, Mr. Adam.”

‘Damn, she’s one of the strangest people I’ve ever encountered. Although if being tough were the only way to save a member of my family, I’d do the same.’

As much as Romara objected, there was nothing she could do. She had to step aside and let Adam approach Vador.

Adam took another look at Vador.

‘Yeah, he really is in bad shape. But… That’s pretty strange, isn’t it?’

The first thing that caught his eye was that there were no wounds on Vador’s body. Sure, Vador was severely emaciated, but there had to be a reason for that, and Adam couldn’t see anything.

“Hmm, not even a scratch, let alone anything more serious, and still…”

Adam sensed Vador’s aura. It extended only a short distance, but it was definitely powerful, far stronger than Romara’s or Markol’s.

‘Yeah, he’s definitely a powerful monster, but how can I help him?’

“So, what do you want me to do?” Adam turned to Amelia.

That question was enough to bring anger to Romara’s face. She couldn’t believe that Amelia had invited a K4-Phantom into their home.

“Please, take my father by the hand, and then I’ll help you, for the first time.”

Romara narrowed her eyes, literally piercing Adam with her gaze. She clearly didn’t want him to do that, but Adam had already figured out who called the shots in this house.

Tap.

Gently, Adam took Vador by the hand, feeling only cold, there was practically none of his usual warmth, as he was much closer to being dead than alive.

“Great, now trust me.”

Before Adam could react, Amelia appeared beside him and pressed her palm against his chest.

A powerful energy pulse coursed through her arm, moving straight toward Adam.

Soon enough, there was too much energy inside him, and he was about to release it, but Amelia stopped him with a light touch on his shoulder.

“No, channel my energy and yours into my father’s hand. You’ll figure out what to do from there.”

Adam was confused. They had never done anything like this before, but he was quite good at controlling energy.

A few moments later, he split Amelia’s energy and his own into two streams, blue and white, before directing them along his arm.

The two energy streams moved straight toward Vader’s hand.

Suddenly, everything around them turned black.

“Agh…?”

Adam blinked a few times, but the previous scene didn’t reappear. He found himself in a different space, and very soon he realized exactly where he was.

“Wait… Is this Vador’s inner space?” Adam was dazed.

He knew it was possible, but he had never before had to force his way into someone else’s inner space. Only very powerful monsters and Phantoms were capable of such a feat, and only if there was a significant difference in strength between them and their target.

Vador was stronger than Adam, but not right now.

“I see. Because he’s weakened right now, even I, a K4 Phantom, have a chance to get in here. No wonder Romara and Markol are being so protective, any monster or Phantom that gets into Vador’s chamber could kill him.”

In fact, Adam could do it right now, from inside his own space. Sure, he wouldn’t do it, at least not because Amelia would immediately rip his head off, and nothing would save him.

Adam looked around, searching for whatever Amelia had wanted to show him, when suddenly something made his face go pale.

“Shit…”

The massive Evolution Tree lay in the distance, torn into hundreds of pieces. Its bark, trunk, branches, and roots floated in fragments amid the darkness, rapidly losing their energy, with many areas already completely depleted.

But despite this scene, something else caught Adam’s eye.

“What is that?”

Amid the broken Evolution Tree, another object floated, a white vase from the top of which flowed icy streams resembling frosty threads.
