Chapter 1919: A Nexus for a Phantom and an Arc for a Lord

Chapter 1919: A Nexus for a Phantom and an Arc for a Lord

Neither Kalyso nor Adam knew that their battle had caught someone’s attention.

The Light Field was as vast as the Grand Abyss. Right now, countless battles were taking place across the entire Light Field, even on the side of the Tarnished Lands.

No one but the combatants themselves would ever know about most of them, since they were all very far apart.

Sure, since they were near the Vibrating Stone, there was a chance that someone might come here to use the stone, but that was unlikely to happen.

The three Lords that Kalyso had killed were here because they were hunting Adam, and Kalyso had ended up here for a similar reason.

Neither in this area nor nearby was there a monster that had ended up here by chance or for the sake of a Vibrating Stone, at least not right now.

Tremble.

A tremor rippled through the space, bringing a bright smile to Kalyso’s face.

The red threads hovering before Adam were reflected in his large, amber eyes.

“Oh, I was so hoping you’d use this!” Kalyso exclaimed, his gaze full of excitement.

“Hmm?” Adam stared intently at Kalyso. “Do you know about my Nexus?”

In fact, Adam hadn’t expected this, since he had used his new Nexus, Divine Touch, only once: in the battle against Zin, which ultimately helped him win.

Well, he had also used his Nexus against Sano and Natta when he first learned about the Monster Nexuses, but that fight hadn’t been a real one, neither Sano nor Natta was even 10% as strong as Zin, in Adam’s opinion.

‘Moreover,’ Adam mused. ‘There’s no way he could have learned about my Nexus from the battle against Sano and Natta. Gladiua and Aiden wouldn’t have let even a scrap of information slip through. So rumors must have reached him about what happened in the Hollow Lands, right?’

Kalyso nodded deeply.

“Yes! I heard about your battle in the Hollow Lands and your victory! Damn! They say you would’ve lost if it weren’t for your Nexus, and the distinctive feature of your new weapon is those red threads!”

Adam smiled bitterly as his assumption was immediately confirmed.

“I see. What can I say? Your strike turned out to be stronger than I thought. You know, you’re the first Lord I’ve ever fought?”

Kalyso waved his hand with a smug smile.

“Of course. That’s the whole point. If I’d been late, you’d already be a Second Rank Phantom, I think that’ll happen very soon. You might not think so, but I know my limits.”

Adam blinked as he froze for a moment.

Then, he nodded gratefully.

“Thanks. It’s always nice to know that someone thinks you’re strong.”

“Hahaha! You still have to become a Second Rank Phantom! Until then, I’m stronger!”

Whooooooosh!

With a loud laugh, Kalyso lunged forward, gathering a bright light in his fist.

The threads flashed before Adam’s eyes as red gloves covered his hands, and a long crimson coat appeared on him, with a high collar and three black straps hanging down.

‘Hmm. Strange as it may seem, I haven’t had the chance to find out what my new Nexus is fully capable of. The victory over Sano and Natta was too easy, and when I fought Zin, I acted on instinct.’

For a moment, Adam’s eyes dropped to his gloves, looking at the three black iron tubes running between his knuckles.

‘With my final attack against Zin, I literally ripped out a chunk of his chest along with his heart. At that time, he was one of the strongest Black Threat Level monsters in the entire world, I do not doubt that. So… What if I use this trick on Kalyso?’

However, Adam couldn’t use this dangerous move right away. He still wanted to see just how far the capabilities of the red threads extended.

Step!

Kalyso took a step forward, coming to stand right in front of him.

He was relishing this battle as the ground shook beneath his footsteps, but his smile was just as bright.

Still, the light in his clenched fist was the most dangerous weapon in the Fallen Amber Sun area.

Whooooosh!

Adam leaped to the side, dodging Kalyso’s punch at the last moment.

The blast of light obliterated the left side of the cliff as Kalyso immediately spun around, preparing to continue his attack. The light had already filled his fist once more.

“I won’t let you escape, Adam! Fight!” Kalyso exclaimed.

But something made his smile falter.

Adam’s eyes were calm as his needle reappeared in his hand. It seemed like a mistake, since Kalyso was strong enough to destroy his needle with his bare hands.

“Don’t think you can do that again,” Adam’s voice rang out as streams of blood gushed from the iron pipes on his gloves.

In the blink of an eye, the blood split into thousands of red threads that rushed toward his needle, enveloping it in a protective veil.

The dark color of his needle mingled with the red threads, giving it a dangerous crimson hue, ready to devour any light.

“Let’s see if your light can withstand my strongest threads!”

SLASH!

Adam gripped the hilt of his needle tightly with both hands before bringing it down hard on Kalyso.

“Damn it!” Kalyso exclaimed inwardly as his eyes widened.

It wasn’t just the needle that was dangerous, but the trembling red threads as well, which unleashed the energy blade upon Kalyso. It was yet another threat and a reinforcement of Adam’s attack.

Kalyso had no choice but to cross his arms in front of him and use his light to protect himself.

The crimson energy blade swept through the amber field, raising a cloud of dust and tearing the tall grass to shreds.

Blink.

Adam blinked, looking into the distance where Kalyso should have been standing with a serious wound on his chest.

Drip. Drip. Drip.

Drops of blood trickled onto the ground as Kalyso smiled brightly.

“Not bad, not bad at all.” He opened his eyes, keeping his arms crossed in front of him.

There wasn’t a single scratch on his chest, just a deep gash on his right forearm.

“Let me show you something, too!”

At that very moment, a surge of powerful aura burst forth, and Adam realized what was about to happen.

‘He’s decided to use his Arc? Tsk. Now things are going to get more complicated, right?’
