Chapter 2019: Blast and Overload

Through his initial attempts, Adam grasped the basic principles of creating the Nova Blast. He didn’t necessarily have to proceed step by step and cautiously.

Every time he stopped the electric orbs and destroyed the lightning bolts, he obtained particles of energy that he could use for the sphere.

It didn’t matter how he achieved this, whether by destroying the lightning bolts with his needle or using his energy, but the sphere was becoming denser and denser.

Adam wanted to head toward the white crystals, but he stopped at the borderline island. Before confronting the power of the white crystals, Adam wanted to find out just how much he could compress the blue sphere.

Tremble. Tremble. Tremble.

The blue sphere trembled as sparks flew off in all directions. Adam’s gaze was focused, this was already his fourth attempt to compress the blue sphere more than once.

Silvana and the others watched from the sidelines.

They had only been there for an hour, but during that time Adam had managed to make several dozen attempts. However, none of them had allowed him to reach even 100%, and for success, he needed at least 400%, and most likely 500% or even more, of his own energy.

“Now, if he can do it right now, he’ll get 100%, right?” Silvana asked, turning to Lamor.

Lamor nodded.

“Indeed. Through his previous attempts, Adam gained a better understanding of what he needed to do. In fact, I think his energy control has improved over the past hour.”

“Huh…” Silvana realized something. “This isn’t just a trial, it’s effective training, isn’t it?”

Lamor spread his arms wide with a slight smile.

“Yeah, you could put it that way. But Adam was already able to control his energy at a pretty high level. He just didn’t need to use it so often and so precisely before.”

Kamora smirked.

“Imagine how heavy and powerful that sphere will become when he reaches 300% or 400%! It’ll be a bomb! And that’s exactly what Adam needs to unleash the Nova Blast.”

At that moment, Silvana looked at Frida, hoping she would explain everything to her.

“The Nova Blast… What’s the point of this Anchor? All Anchors, except for Adam’s Frenzied Flame, give him some kind of power or a tool. What is the Nova Blast capable of?”

Frida took a few moments to answer.

“This power is pretty much described by its name. The Nova Blast allows a Phantom to unleash all of its energy at once in a powerful attack. Sure, technically any Phantom who has mastered energy control is capable of this, but the Nova Blast is on another level.”

She waved her hand before continuing.

“It’s a special ability that gathers all your energy, element, and properties and transforms them into one final attack. In some cases, the Nova Blast is the best option for a trump card at the end of a battle.”

“Hehehe.”

Kamora’s sly giggle rang out from behind them.

“I’m afraid Frida left out one detail about the Nova Blast.”

“Hmm?” Silvana was confused. “Frida, what is she talking about?”

Frida sighed heavily, crossing her arms over her chest.

“Ah… Well, the Nova Blast has another use. For Phantoms like Adam and Kamora, it’s a real gift, though I wouldn’t advise anyone to use it.”

Her answer sparked genuine curiosity in Silvana.

“Overload,” Frida said. “You can use the Nova Blast to enter the Overload State. During this state, you’ll gain more energy than you have, because you’ll also be drawing on your body’s resources.”

Lamora nodded.

“Basically, if a Phantom is in peak condition and uses the Nova Blast to overload, his power will increase from 100% to 120%. Something like that. Sure, the results vary slightly for each Phantom, but I think you get the idea.”

“Yeah, it’s pretty simple, but there’s a price to pay for that power, isn’t there?” Silvana asked cautiously. She knew that as soon as Adam found out about this feature, he’d immediately want to try it out in his next fight.

Frida was right, that was indeed his style, and the style of Phantoms like Kamora.

“Sure. But it’s not as bad as it might seem. With the overload, you’ll gain greater power for a short period, but the cost will be high. In the few minutes that the overload lasts, you’ll expend as much energy as you would in an hour of combat.”

Silvana looked away with a pensive expression.

“Hmm… So there’s no point in using the overload at any time other than at the end of the battle, right? I mean, if you activate the Nova Blast that way and don’t defeat your opponent within those few minutes, you’ll end up in a bad situation, won’t you?”

Lamor shrugged.

“Well, whether to use the Blast or Overload is up to each Phantom. But after the Blast, you won’t be exhausted or injured, though the Blast is only suitable for attacking, while Overload makes you stronger overall.”

Kamora joined the conversation:

“He’s absolutely right. With Overload, you can escape if there are too many opponents or if the situation has become more dangerous than you expected. But I’d use it to smash my enemy’s face in with my own fists, not with an energy blast.”

Silvana gave her a long look before turning to Adam. She had expected that kind of response from Kamora.

Still…

‘Huh, who am I kidding?’ Silvana chuckled inwardly. ‘Adam would tell me the same thing. Though, I’d like to see what he’s capable of with the Nova Blast in its two modes.’

Each Nova Blast mode had its own advantages and disadvantages, but first, Adam had to acquire the Nova Blast in order to use it.

Tremble!

Adam tensed his arms even more as a vein bulged on his face and the blue sphere began to tremble.

With a bright flash, the sphere became slightly smaller, and its color grew more saturated and one shade darker.

Adam blinked as a happy smile slowly spread across his face.

He had reached 100%, which meant one of the main problems had been solved.
