Chapter 466: Whether He Is Good Or Bad Doesn’t Matter

"Finally..." Alex sighed in relief after entering his room. "I didn’t think that being a butler was this exhausting."

He wasn’t tired physically but mentally.

After listening to Mary’s instructions and ensuring proper etiquette at all times the whole day, he felt that it was easier to fight monsters than serve as a butler.

"And I have to continue being a butler until the excursion is over." Alex sighed again while lying down on the bed.

He then looked up at the ceiling and decided to take a nap for a bit.

Perhaps due to how drained he was, he drifted off to sleep without even taking his shoes off.

A few minutes later, Lumi entered his room by passing through the walls in her ethereal form.

When she saw that Alex was sleeping on the bed, she decided to take a better look at the butler, who had worked hard until they returned to their hotel.

’He slept without removing his clothes or his mask,’ Lumi thought as she sat on the bed, lowering her head to take a closer look at the sleeping young man.

’He only looks gentle when he’s asleep,’ Lumi mused as she gently parted the hair that covered the young man’s forehead.

For some reason, she was more attracted to Alex’s current appearance. This was surprising to even her.

Perhaps she was looking for a "mature" version of Alex because she thought that the young man was too childish at times.

Thinking that he might be feeling uncomfortable, she decided to take off his shoes and socks for him.

After doing that, she decided to unbutton the black suit so that the young man could breathe more easily in his sleep.

Since Alex was wearing a white shirt underneath, she thought that he wouldn’t mind if he loosened up his clothes.

’Now, that’s better.’ Lumi nodded after the young man’s breathing had become more relaxed.

Noticing that he was starting to sweat a bit, she took her handkerchief and wiped his face gently so that he wouldn’t wake up from his sleep.

When she was done she took out a small incense burner from her storage ring and placed it on the side of the bed.

Faint wisp of cold white smoke oozed from it, making the room a little colder than usual.

There were times when even Latifa found it hard to sleep, so Lumi and Lotte would use incense to keep the room cold or warm, depending on the season.

When the room had gotten a bit colder, Lumi thought that it was now a good time to leave.

Suddenly, Latifa reached out to her, making the young lady fall into a trance.

A moment later, a soft sigh escaped Lumi’s lips.

She returned to the bed, and looked at the sleeping young man before lying beside him.

Latifa was momentarily borrowing Lumi’s body, which was the reason why she had asked her Alter to go to Solara in her place.

Regardless of the distance, she could be together with Alex without leaving the clock tower.

The young lady then hugged Alex, using him as her hug pillow just like usual.

It didn’t take long before she, too, fell asleep, while hugging the young man, whom she missed dearly.

Meanwhile, somewhere in Solara...

"Uncle, isn’t this a bit much?" Prince Garen asked Lady Celestria’s father.

"It’s for her own good," the Duke of Dawn, Percival Dawnflare, replied. "Everyone is waiting for her to make an appearance. Also, according to my subordinate, that young man called Renard Vale is not with the Prince and Princess of Avalon."

"Uncle, Renard is actually a good guy, you know?" Prince Garen added. "I’m sure that you will like him."

"Whether he is good or bad doesn’t matter," Duke Percival replied. "My daughter is too precious to associate herself with a commoner."

Prince Garen sighed internally because this issue was something that he couldn’t interfere with.

Duke Percival had always believed that nobles should marry among themselves, ensuring that their influence and lineage would continue to remain strong.

"Unfortunately, you don’t get to decide who I associate myself with, Father."

A young lady opened the door without bothering to knock and walked inside the room with the confidence and the grace of the Saintess of Solara.

"Do not think that my obedience is akin to agreeing with whatever you are thinking," Lady Celestria stated. "I’m only allowing this... house arrest because I don’t have a reason to go out right now."

Duke Percival eyed his daughter cooly, but didn’t criticise her rudeness.

Her mother was just as bold as she was, and frankly, the Duke preferred a strong-willed daughter over a weak-minded one.

"Then, should I deal with that commoner brat for your sake?" Duke Percival arched an eyebrow. "I heard that he was challenged to a duel by some of the nobles that wished to ask for your hand in marriage. Do you think he would be able to beat them?"

"Ask ’The Sun’ instead of me," Lady Celestria replied with a smile. "After all, His Excellency was the one who asked me to go to Frieden Academy to look for someone. Everything I do is by His Excellency’s will."

"Really?" Duke Percival crossed his arms over his chest. "Or you are just using His Excellency as a shield to do whatever you wish to do."

"Who knows?" Lady Celestria’s smile widened a bit. "What do you think, Father?"

"I think you’re being too naughty right now, Celestria," Duke Percival replied. "His Excellency’s will is absolute. But do not mistake divine purpose for divine indulgence. Even the sun casts shadows, Celestria. Perhaps this boy is one."

"Perhaps," Lady Celestria replied, her golden eyes gleaming. "But even shadows only exist because the light allows them to."

Her father frowned but said nothing more.

The argument had no true conclusion.

It never did.

The Duke would continue to disapprove, and Celestria would continue to follow her own rhythm, as if she danced to a melody that only the heavens could hear.

Prince Garen looked at the father and daughter before scratching his head.

Both of them were strong-willed and stubborn.

Even though Duke Percival was Lady Celestria’s father, she was someone who held a special position within the kingdom.

As the Saintess of their Patron Deity, her influence was second only to the King of Solara.

In fact, with just a word, the Knights of the Sun would mobilize and go to a crusade for her.

Fortunately, Lady Celestria wasn’t a person who abused her power and authority. She was actually a very gentle, kind, and affectionate person.

But when the time to be firm and stubborn was needed, she was like a bamboo who would sway and dance alongside the storm that could never bring her down.
