Chapter 768: I Have No Excuse

“Welcome back, Your Majesty.” Elaris greeted Alex with a smile.

When she saw her King come back accompanied by two beautiful women, both of whom she had never met until now, the smile on her face widened.

“Are you planning to add them to your harem, Your Majesty?” Elaris added. “I shall very swiftly ask the maids to prepare two rooms as soon as possible.”

Alex’s body stiffened after hearing the Head Maid’s statement. There was no denying that Evangeline and Latifa were his lovers, so they were technically part of his harem.

“Y-Yes, please do that,” Alex replied.

He couldn’t possibly say that they were not part of his harem. If he did, Evangeline and Latifa might look at him strangely.

“By the way, Your Majesty, the lady you brought in, Nessia, seems to be having a fever,” Elaris stated. “I’ve already called the Palace Physician to look after her. We can’t possibly let one of your lovers suffer under my watch.”

“What?!” Evangline’s eyes widened in shock.

“Nessia is your lover?” Latifa narrowed her eyes dangerously.

“Friend!” Alex stated. “How many times should I tell you that Nessia is only my friend, Elaris? She’s not my lover, so please give me a break already.”

“A friend…?” Elaris blinked. “Isn’t that how your relationship with Lady Lazuli and Lady Ariel started, though? But now they have become your concubines. You even made love to both of them at the same time last night. The bedsheets were…”

Alex hurriedly covered the woman’s lips with his hands before she could say anything else that might cause more misunderstandings!

Was this perhaps Elaris’ role in this world? To embarrass the King in front of other women?

Throughout her explanation, Evangeline and Latifa were giving Alex dangerous smiles that made him feel like he was in danger.

“Please prepare their rooms, Elaris,” Alex said calmly. “Also, don’t say anything unnecessary.”

“Yes, Your Majesty.” Elaris bowed respectfully. “This humble maid will make sure that everything will be done according to your wishes.”

She then bowed towards Evangeline and Latifa before walking away to do her duties as Head Maid.

“Who are Lady Lazuli and Lady Ariel?” Evangeline asked while hugging Alex’s left arm.

“Do we know them?” Latifa asked as she, too, hugged Alex’s right arm.

“Y-Yes.” Alex knew that there was no escaping, no matter what. He couldn’t bear to lie to both his lovers and told them the truth. “Lady Lazuli is Lapiz, while Lady Ariel is Aeris.”

“…”

“…”

The stares of the two girls were simply too much, so Alex decided to take them both to his room to properly explain things.

However, that was a wrong move.

When he took the two ladies to the bedroom, Astrea was there, sleeping while wearing a nightgown with one of the shoulder straps untied.

Alex gulped after seeing something that shouldn’t be seen. Though he wasn’t able to appreciate this scene for long.

“Hoh…” Evangeline arched an eyebrow. “Looks like you’ve got a lot of explaining to do.”

“It seems that you’ve been having a lot of fun, Your Majesty.” Latifa’s grip on Alex’s shoulder tightened a bit. “You’re going to explain everything, right?”

“O-Of course!” Alex stuttered.

He had completely forgotten that Astrea was his Queen, and that they shared the same room!

“Okay, please calm down.” Alex took the two ladies back to the living room to explain the situation properly.

He told them that Astrea was his Queen in this world, and that she was also a Dragon.

On the other hand, Lapiz had turned into a human, and her name had become Lazuli.

As for Aeris, she was still an elf. Though she had become one of Alex’s concubines.

He also admitted that the Synchronization Rate had played a role in what happened a day ago. Of course, he also mentioned that the effect had disappeared before he crossed that line.

Yet, instead of stopping, he decided to ‌see it through until the end.

“I have no excuse.” Alex sighed. “I understand that I’ve made a grave mistake. The one at fault is me.”

Latifa understood that when someone was under the effects of the Synchronization Rate, they lost all control of their bodies.

She was also aware that Alex loved Lapiz. Although he didn’t pursue her relentlessly, she believed that his feelings for her were genuine.

The only problem was Aeris.

Alex once told them that he wasn’t really interested in her. There were no lies in his words, and Latifa knew so, for she was sensitive to lies.

But now that he had done the deed with them, she was worried that Aeris and Lapiz would ask his lover to take responsibility.

“Someone told me that the bodies we have in this challenge are not our real bodies,” Evangeline said. “So, even if you did make love to them, I believe that their original bodies are still chaste.”

She wasn’t lying.

During their journey, the Little Devil on Himea’s shoulder told them that the bodies they had possessed weren’t their real bodies.

If anything, they were only replicas, while their souls had temporarily been placed inside these vessels.

“But on the off chance that everything is indeed real and that we are all using our original bodies, will you take responsibility for your actions?” Latifa inquired.

“I will,” Alex answered without hesitation.

“Let me confirm something,” Evangeline interjected. “You haven’t done it with Astrea yet, right?”

“No.” Alex shook his head. “And I won’t do it with her.”

“But what if the Synchronization Rate takes effect?” Latifa asked. “Don’t forget that she is your Queen in this world.”

Alex had no words to refute the fox lady’s statement. Indeed, they were King and Queen.

If the Synchronization Rate took effect, then wouldn’t that mean they would be forced to do something that was outside of their control?

“I have a proposal,” Alex said with determination in his eyes. “The two of you will follow me from now on. If the Synchronization Rate takes hold of me, please stop me no matter what.”

“Understood.” Evangeline nodded. “I’ll stop you with everything I have, so don’t regret it later, okay?”

“Please do.” Alex nodded. “You too, Latifa. Stop me with everything you have.”

“I will.” Latifa agreed.

What happened with Aeris and Lapiz was already done and dusted. There was nothing they could do about it.

On the other hand, Astrea was a problem in her own right.

Evangeline and Latifa could instinctively feel that although Astrea didn’t seem to have any romantic feelings for Alex, that was only what they saw on the surface.

Of course, they hoped that they were just simply overthinking things.

“Alex, there is something that we need to tell you,” Evangeline said in a serious tone.

She then mentioned the people from Reverse Arcana who were trying to cross over to Hy-Brasil and make it their foothold to remain in this world.

At the mere mention of Reverse Arcana, Alex’s expression immediately turned grim.

He still remembered the warning that Reverse Latifa and Efa had given him in his dream.

If his counterpart and his entourage really crossed over to this world, their already difficult challenge would be even worse than ever.

‘Talk about Hell Mode.’ Alex sighed internally.

He had to admit that with his current strength, he was not a match for Reverse Alex in a confrontation.

Not to mention, the Latifa of that world also had eight tails.

That meant she was a Rank 8 existence.

Even with only five tails, Latifa was already a powerhouse. Adding three more to that number would make her an existence that not even Alex and his friends could win against, even if they were to fight together as a team.
