Endless Leveling Done Right!

Chapter 780: Alex’s Last Resort

Chapter 780: Alex’s Last Resort

Half a day later, the group that headed east to pursue the giant ants returned.

They had completed their mission and eliminated the enemy.

Some suffered serious injuries, but there were no casualties.

The injured couldn’t return that quickly, so the commander decided to bring all the able-bodied men, except the healers, to Alex’s side as soon as possible.

Of course, he also left three hundred soldiers to protect those who were left behind, just in case of an emergency.

Overall, four thousand soldiers returned, making the combined army’s numbers rise to nearly ten thousand.

“This is the plan,” Alex said calmly. “Tomorrow after breakfast, we will attack the ant nest. However, we will not do a frontal charge.”

He then glanced at Nessia, who nodded back in understanding.

“She is a magical formation specialist who is also an expert when it comes to Rune Magic,” Alex explained. “She will create a favorable battleground for us.”

At those words, the commander and vice commander began to look at Nessia in a new light. They didn’t expect that the lady their King had rescued would actually have this kind of ability.

“For now, all of you will rest and prepare for tomorrow’s battle,” Alex added.

All the officers inside the room raised their hands in response and pressed them over their chests.

“””Yes, Your Majesty!”””

After dismissing the officers, Alex, Nessia, and the rest of their friends rode on their mounts, bringing a hundred soldiers with them a mile away from the ant’s nest.

They could have brought more, but Alex thought bringing more might provoke the ants into attacking them.

Fortunately, the ants left them alone.

Nessia immediately started scribbling runes on talismans, which flew stealthily in the darkness.

Soon, the talismans placed themselves a kilometer around the ant nest, forming an encirclement.

When one full rotation was completed, Nessia made more talismans, slowly inching toward their target ten meters at a time.

When the talisman encirclement was only five hundred meters away from the ant nest, Nessia finally stopped.

At this point, she was drenched in sweat and looked very exhausted. She had only recovered from her sickness, so doing this kind of task was still too draining for her.

The only reason why she had persevered was because of her determination to save her boyfriend, who was somewhere deep underground.

“Thank you, Nessia,” Alex said before handing two bottles of high-quality stamina and mana potions to her.

Nessia didn’t reply and simply drank the contents of the potions offered to her.

After recovering a bit, Alex asked Vaan to take her back to the camp so that she could rest.

Alex stayed behind for thirty more minutes after that to see if the ants would notice the magical formation that had been placed around their nest.

However, after seeing no reaction from them, he finally decided to withdraw.

A few hours later…

“His Majesty really is something…” one of the soldiers said in a hushed tone. “He’s spending the night with a Foxkin, a dwarf, and that vampire girl. Having three ladies at once. He really is a legend.”

“What do you expect?” another soldier replied. “He’s ‘His Majesty’, after all. It’s normal for him to do that.”

King Aetherion might be a good king, but his qualities as a womanizer were something all the soldiers were familiar with.

There was even a running joke within the elven army that started during their campaign against the Demon Lord about their king.

“As long as it is female and it moves, it is within King Aetherion’s strike range.”

Of course, Alex had heard this rumor through Dim Dim. When he first heard it, he was even close to coughing up blood.

Fran giggled because seeing Alex react like this was quite amusing.

Latifa and Evangeline were also all smiles.

Because of that, Alex wanted to teach these three beauties a lesson in bed. However, he didn’t dare do it, especially since they were in a military campaign.

They were only staying in a tent, so it was impossible to cover the sounds that would be coming from it.

The last thing he wanted was for the soldiers to hear his lovers’ moans and give the soldiers a reason to give him teasing smiles in the morning for indulging in his desires right before a great battle.

Still, that didn’t stop Evangeline from being mischievous and sucking Alex’s… ahem.

Naturally, Latifa and Fran “readily” joined in. In the end, it was His Majesty who was forced to cover his lips with his hands so that his voice wouldn’t be heard outside their tent.

When morning finally came, Alex opened his eyes while being hugged by Latifa and Fran. Evangeline seemed to have woken up before him and was no longer inside the tent.

Although he was reluctant to break free from the warm and soft embrace of his lovers, today was a special day.

With that, he woke them up and told them to have breakfast with him.

When they had all worn proper clothes, Evangeline finally returned, carrying a tray of food for all of them.

Since they no longer needed to get out to have breakfast, they all ate together inside the tent.

“The army is a little tense,” Evangeline said as they ate. “It seems that the majority of them hate Prince Ganelon to the bone, especially since he betrayed the elves during the war against the previous Demon Lord.”

Alex nodded. “I found out about it recently. But before he joined the Demon Lord’s army, people referred to him as the role model of every elven Knight. The betrayal might have been too much for the elves that idolized him.”

Their conversation then shifted to the strategy they would use to deal with the giant ants before infiltrating the ant nest.

Their strategy was really simple.

Lure the ants towards Nessia’s formation and activate it.

According to Nessia, she had imbued the formation with Fire Magic, which would unleash a barrage of fire bullets at any ant that came within a hundred meters of it.

If an ant managed to step over one of the runes, a Fire Wall would be activated, which would burn its body to a crisp.

Nessia created the perfect slaughterhouse against the ant army, intending to wipe them out as fast as possible.

All Alex needed to do was lure them to the death trap, and their numbers would decrease to a manageable state.

They didn’t know how Charles would react once his soldier ants started dying. Yet, their plan didn’t change.

They would subjugate Charles as fast as they could and tie him up with adamantine shackles.

Of course, this was easier said than done.

They had no idea how strong Ganelon was.

“At the bare minimum, he should be around Rank 6,” Alex stated.

“And the worst-case scenario?” Latifa inquired.

“Rank 8,” Alex replied without hesitation.

Charles had two professions, which were Void-Touched and Dungeon Conqueror.

This terrible combination made him a one-man army that could threaten an entire kingdom if left alone.

“If he is that strong, then shouldn’t you be just as strong as him?” Fran asked.

“Frankly, I have no idea how strong I am,” Alex admitted. “I can still use my original powers, but it doesn’t feel any different from being Rank 4. King Aetherion is supposed to be a Magic Knight, but he is more of a mage than a knight.”

“Does that mean you can’t use his powers?” Evangeline frowned.

“I can’t.” Alex shook his head. “However, there might be a way. You can even say that it’s a gamble.”

“And that gamble is… allowing the effects of the Synchronization Rate to take over you, right?” Latifa’s voice turned solemn.

Alex nodded. “Exactly. I can use it as a last resort if I’m pushed into a corner.”

Hearing his confirmation, the three ladies exchanged glances.

That was indeed a gamble. After all, if Alex lost control of himself, things would spiral out of their control in more ways than one.
