Chapter 1222: Chapter 409: Two Towns in Crisis, the Longyou Model, Golden Order Prison Warden, Lin Kai’s Reminder

Population is the cornerstone and foundation of all camps.

The number of Logging Realm, Earth-digging Realm, Cold Resistance Level, and even Xianyang Level powerhouses is the core support for the continuous development and growth of a camp.

No matter how the camp develops, this logic always applies.

Hunting and gathering resources for survival and cultivation, maintaining one’s security and development, competing with other camps, and resisting the invasions of Cold Beasts and Deceitful Monsters; all these tasks ultimately depend on people to complete.

These people have different roles: Logging Realm can gather resources; Earth-digging Realm can mine and hunt; Cold Resistance Level can hunt intermediate and advanced Cold Beasts; and the top Xianyang Level of the Nine Towns can hunt advanced or even Beast King level Cold Beasts, while also venturing into more dangerous areas to obtain more advanced resources. The seemingly least useful ordinary people are the cradle for nurturing the former four.

If any one of these five aspects fails, the camp will fall into a developmental or survival crisis.

Unfortunately, both Jiangxia and Muyin are currently facing problems on all fronts.

Of course, the survival issue of the two towns has already been resolved by the Great Xia.

With the Great Xia’s dominant position at the Moao South Slope, and the two towns actively assisting Hongmen, unless the two towns self-destruct, the Six Towns would certainly not have the courage to make a move against them.

The survival issue is resolved, but the development crisis still remains.

In Jiangxia, after half a year of battle with Dajue Temple, even the Lord Jiang Yinglong died in battle. As for Cold Resistance Level and Earth-digging Realm, it goes without saying that overall losses for people in these cultivation stages exceed sixty percent.

The Great Xia roughly estimates that Jiangxia currently has less than two thousand at Cold Resistance Level, slightly better at Earth-digging Realm, with about seventy thousand;

Regarding Muyin’s development crisis, it probably started four years ago after the death of the former Lord Murong Ding, facing external aggression and oppression from the Northern Three Towns, and internal strife between the first and second houses. The town has been engulfed in internal and external troubles, and if the Great Xia hadn’t intervened at the end of April, Muyin would have long been history in the Moao South Slope.

Muyin Town is now preserved, but internal strife in the town has worsened the already damaging situation over the past four consecutive years.

As for the Xianyang Level powerhouses, since four years ago they’re solely supported by Murong Chui. The Northern Three Towns don’t even regard Muyin as a town of the same level;

Murong Yan died, Murong Chui took over, and the Murong Family’s first house, along with those loyal to it, have either died or fled. The Cold Resistance Level in the entire town shrank to just fifteen hundred people, Earth-digging Realm has only over fifty thousand, worse than Jiangxia.

It’s understandable when thinking about it, Muyin has been internally consuming resources for four years, worsening an already dire situation. Plus, the Northern Three Towns are right on the border, even if they do nothing, many from Muyin would still flock to them.

In short, given the current situation of the two towns, maintaining the town’s dignity is out of the question, and ensuring the normal supply of cultivation resources is even more difficult.

This was evident in the conflict that broke out in He Yin Village in July between Jiangxia and the Great Xia hunting teams.

During the Hongmen Banquet at the end of April, Xia Hong made decisive moves, reallocating Baisong and Zouyang, originally shared between Chui Mountain and Dragon Valley, to Jiangxia, then had Jiangxia cede Peak Mountain and Longzhou to Dragon Valley as compensation.

The redistribution plan proposed by Xia Hong at the Hongmen Banquet succeeded, partly due to strength, but deeper logic lies beneath.

Firstly, the greatest loss was Chui Mountain Town, losing both Bashang and Baisong; then Beishuo, which originally acquired Jiuqu only to have it seized by the Great Xia; Yangqu maintained Qing Valley, effectively suffering no loss; Dragon Valley traded Zouyang for Peak Mountain and Longzhou, even gaining; needless to mention Jiangxia.

As for Jin Mountain and Wuchuan Towns, they are too far from Bashang to be interested in that territory, and most importantly, both towns are happy to see Beishuo suffer losses at the Great Xia’s hands.

In essence, among the Eight Towns, five benefit from this redistribution, Yangqu neither gains nor loses, leaving only Beishuo and Chui Mountain at a disadvantage; this is the confidence behind Xia Hong’s courage to redistribute Bashang’s territory.

Unfortunately, few see it this way, most at Moao South Slope believe the Eight Towns were coerced by the Great Xia’s power and reluctantly agreed.

This perception suits Xia Hong perfectly, as he was thinking of ways to boost Great Xia’s prestige and intimidate the Eight Towns.

Going back, the primary reason Xia Hong initially allocated Baisong to Jiangxia was that Baisong Camp is located near Moao Mountain, with over sixty kilometers of mountain entrance on both the North and South. From then, he had planned to obtain the entrance to Moao Mountain Range from Jiangxia, leading to the subsequent acquisition of He Yin Village in July.

Originally, Jiangxia had over seventy kilometers of territory along Moao Mountain. With the acquisition of Baisong Camp, their territory expanded by over sixty kilometers, and even after ceding twenty kilometers along He Yin Village to the Great Xia, they still had one hundred and ten kilometers, ranking first in the Nine Towns in terms of territory along Moao Mountain.

Jiangxia now has over two thousand at Cold Resistance Level, over seventy thousand at Earth-digging Realm, and the number of hunting teams compared to Great Xia is pitifully small. Reasonably speaking, they shouldn’t need to hunt in areas near He Yin Village in the south, given such abundant hunting regions within their hundred-and-ten-kilometer territory, let alone end up clashing with the Great Xia’s hunting teams.
