At my father's command, Mirabilis nodded. Her entire body started melting into a black puddle of sludge, rapidly reassembling into a mass of black tentacles with green eyes and sharp jaws twisting around, trying to form a humanoid shape.
Woah, okay, I knew there was something going on with her… or him.
But is she some kind of Eldritch God?!
"An Outer God?!" I asked, surprised.
"Ah, so you know about my kind! Well, that'll make things easier," Mirabilis said.
"She's perhaps among the first people I ever allied with in my life. I met her approximately a million years ago," said my father. "She had landed on this planet the same way I did, emerging with others of her siblings from an asteroid, an 'egg' as they called it. I hunted and ate a few of her siblings through my life, but there are more somewhere."
"W-Wait a second, I had no idea there were Outer Gods on Earth…" I said. "I thought they lived far away in space?"
"Yes, usually," Mirabilis said. "My kind are called the Shoggoth. We mostly live by invading a planet and enslaving its intelligent life to worship the Outer Gods. We are like a lesser version of them. We don't possess as many of their powers."
"W-What?!" I asked. "Are you going to do that?"
"Of course not," laughed Mirabilis. "I am considered a weird one among my kin because I opposed my original purpose. They tried to kill me, but I ate them."
"And that's about it," my father said, seeming completely unconcerned about any of this, acting as if it was the most normal thing ever.
I mean… I guess it is when you've known Mirabilis for a million years.
"Okay…" I said. "Seeing your faces, you all knew about her for a while then?"
"Since we met your father, young lady," Medea said. "Despite being our superior… Lady Mirabilis doesn't like to stand out and she… well."
"She doesn't like fighting," Wasp said angrily. "She has immense power and yet she doesn't fight."
"I find it so barbaric…" Mirabilis said, turning back to her sexy elf secretary form. "Right, boss?"
"Hmph, I like fighting. That's your problem, Mirabilis, you're too much of a pacifist," sighed my father.
"Didn't she eat her siblings?" I wondered.
"This and that are different matters entirely, young lady," Mirabilis said. "I am a pacifist! This is why I mostly just help in here as a secretary, and I also create Cursed Items, set up the Barriers, protect the territory, and watch over everyone."
A pacifistic Outer God? Well, that's certainly the first time I've ever heard or seen that concept.
"Well, okay," I nodded. "What can you turn into?"
"Anything I've ever seen," she smiled, transforming into a perfect copy of myself. "See?"
"Wow! You could really act as my double in school…" I nodded.
"Do you want me to?" she wondered. "I wouldn't mind being of help."
"Nah, don't worry," I shrugged. "Wait, can you turn into Mom?"
"I… did once, but your father lost his temper, so I promised I would never take that form again," Mirabilis sighed. "He's still angry about that."
He looked at her with slight annoyance. "Kireina, dear, sit down."
"Okay," I nodded.
I sat down on the chair nearby to listen to my father.
"Alright, so the plan for the Entrance Exam is… quite a lot of things," he said. "I came up with half the plans, and the others here added some. We've been refining it this entire time, and we wanted to let you know about it."
"I must say, it is quite unusual that I was invited. I thought you would be opposed or too worried," I giggled.
"He was," Wasp said. "But we insisted that you were absurdly strong, enough that he shouldn't really worry."
"But after what happened with that rogue god, he got worried again," sighed Frankenstein.
"Even though I let him kidnap me? Father, I would never have been kidnapped if I didn't allow it," I said. "It was part of my plan."
"Hm, I know…" he sighed. "But as a father, even knowing that, I worry."
"It's alright, Dad," I said. "What is it?"
"Technically, although the exam is genuine, we're also using it for another purpose," said Medea. "To lure our enemies. We've been too inactive in the country for some time now, and that war against the rogue god set us on alert. We need to get things done."
"We'll lure our enemies into this exam," said Wasp. "And we'll eliminate them. If that 'Sun God' shows up, then that's even better."
"Oh, that sounds great," I nodded. "But what other enemies are there? The three clans?"
"Yeah," my father smiled. "We can eliminate whatever they send, and we could even test their strength. This is something common at this point. The other clans do the same to lure us in. We clash, then we evaluate one another. Sometimes, nothing much happens. Other times, a big war breaks out."
"And do we need wars right now?" I asked.
"It means we can seize more resources, more territory, more power," Wasp said. "As your father's daughter, that should come naturally to you, young lady."
"I mean, I'm in. I was just asking," I said. "It's still vague, but it's also a good way to finally assess who is truly chasing us and who isn't. Maybe we can learn more about our potential enemies, both old and new."
"Exactly, well said, young lady," Mirabilis said. "We also know you wanted to invite some of your friends to our organization."
"I was going to ask, do they belong to special families? Clans that deal with magical powers or have special bloodlines?" Medea asked.
"Anything we could learn about them helps," Wasp said.
"I guess you haven't spied on them then?" I wondered.
"No, we haven't, really," my father said. "I swear I kept my promise."
"Hmm! Alright, you better do!" I nodded.
