Chapter 2911 - 2912: The Werewolf King
-----
While Zagreus and his friends fled, desperately searching for safety only to discover nowhere remained secure, they halted. They stared in the distance as Flora, her army of gods, and the Nether Plane Ruler clashed in ferocious battle.
"Damn it, those humans are going after them!" Hanshuan said angrily.
"What do we do, Zagreus?!" Henshian asked.
The two Sun Gods had grown stronger through countless fights alongside their friends, yet even now they felt unprepared for such direct confrontation.
"W-We…!" Zagreus faltered, words failing him. His sisters still wept for their father, and the crushing weight of responsibility overwhelmed him. "I… don't know, okay?! I don't know what to do!"
"C-Calm down!" Sindarin said, gripping his arm. "It's… going to be okay, Zagreus."
"No it's not going to be okay; things have only gotten worse!" Glimmerdust began hyperventilating, panic rising. "T-This time for sure, we're going to die! All of us are going to die! We are going to—"
"Glimmerdust, stop!" Sindarin seized her Moon Moth Goddess friend by the shoulders. "W-We will find a way out of this, like we've always done!"
"…"
Zagreus sighed heavily. He hid with his friends behind a towering skyscraper, then heard cries rising from below.
"Aahh! Save me!"
"Nooo!"
"Someone help me!"
"Gyaaaah!"
His eyes widened. Humans fled in terror as countless monsters and demons pursued them.
Humans—the same mortal species that had committed unspeakable horrors against his mother.
Zagreus felt confusion deepen. Why were these humans so fragile while those battling above wielded godlike power through insane technology?
"What is this world? Where are we?" he muttered, sighing. "I… What can we even do in this situation?"
"The only thing you can do is trust in yourself, in what you've accomplished, and in the path ahead."
"…Eh?"
Zagreus heard a voice whisper behind him.
It belonged to a young woman, yet he saw nothing.
Until…
"Z-Zagreus! In front of you!"
"Ah!"
He looked forward. A radiant fairy hovered there, composed of purple, pink, and red cosmic light. She fluttered gently, clutching a sword that seemed to contain the heavens within its blade.
She regarded the group of young gods with gleaming red eyes tinged with pity.
"You've come from very far away. I can tell."
"W-Who…!" Zagreus stepped protectively in front of his friends. "What are you?"
"I guess the people of Genesis no longer recognize me," the fairy sighed. "I am Kireina, the Supreme Goddess of Chaos."
"…!!!"
A chill raced down every spine. They backed away slowly, realizing this entity was none other than that legendary figure.
Chaotic power surged from her almost endlessly—the same overwhelming, intimidating presence the Chaos Kings possessed, monsters among monsters without equal.
The Chaos Kings were so formidable they could slay Dream Entities with relative ease—creatures many considered unkillable.
"Don't fear. I am not here to harm you," Kireina said. "I am here to help. I can see now—you're Zagreus. Your father Hades is over there… An old enemy is returning, using him as a vessel the same way he used Hel. Persephone, your mother, is in grave danger."
"H-How did you know all that?!" Zagreus demanded.
"I can read your Hearts," Kireina explained. She smiled, closed her eyes, and waved her sword toward them.
"Aahhh!"
Everyone braced for slaughter.
Yet as Kireina's slash passed through their bodies, minds, souls, and hearts, no harm came.
Instead, a sudden surge of power flooded them. Insecurities and doubts slowly melted away.
Their eyes widened. They looked at Kireina, then felt an explosive burst of strength rising from within.
From their Hearts.
"I have awakened your Hearts," she explained. "And given you the necessary tools for survival. Your mother should be okay now."
"Eh?"
Zagreus and his sisters exchanged glances. They peered into the young man's divine realm and discovered his mother fully restored, looking around in confusion while the undead guarding her panicked.
"M-Mom!!!"
Unable to contain their joy, they rushed inside the divine realm. His friends followed closely.
Kireina turned her gaze into the distance, sensing a gigantic concentration of spiritual energy approaching Tokyo.
"Is this North America's Realm Cluster, along with Avalon and other European Realms?" she wondered. "I can feel her. She's coming."
Gleaming eyes of chromatic diamond watched over the area where the vortex pulled everything toward it.
The strongest entities from every Plane and Realm gathered rapidly for the ultimate showdown—one that would decide not just this world's fate, but the universe's.
.
.
.
"Aahhhh! What's going on?!"
"Why are there vampires and werewolves now?!"
"Auugh, my leg! That thing bit me!"
"Won't you shut the hell up, you damn humans?! We're trying to save your asses right now!"
"Erika, don't scream at them—they're plenty scared already!"
Over twenty humans cowered in fear while a group of vampires and werewolves shielded them from swarms of hundreds of monsters.
These were the same humans the Demon King had sent to hunt and level up. The brave ones who obeyed died quickly.
The smarter ones banded together, hid, and ran—but they were slowly being hunted down too.
Only a few had leveled up enough to survive elsewhere, and those had abandoned everyone else.
Harumi and Erika's groups had merged into one large team. When they fell into the Labyrinth of Madness, they reached a vast convergence of five dungeons.
Here the monsters were monstrously powerful and gathered in enormous numbers. Before them stretched five distinct landscapes fused together like pizza slices.
At the center, the five dungeon bosses had merged into a gigantic chimeric monstrosity—a roaring Kaiju roaming the land.
And it advanced toward them.
"Damn it! That thing's coming back again!" Thyra said angrily.
"We have to run! Humans, hurry and run!" Selene urged. "We will protect you, but don't falter—push yourselves to your limits! Humans have always been good runners!"
The people panicked and bolted. Selene and Thyra stayed close, using moonlight magic and sharp claws to shred approaching chimeras—creatures with multiple heads, legs, wings, and tails from various animals.
Behind them, Erika and Harumi fought off monsters, desperately seeking an exit from the chaotic labyrinth.
At the same time, Frankenstein, Lady Shadow, and Dan battled the larger threats, unleashing devastating magic and electrified attacks.
The Kaiju, struck by Frankenstein's electrified punches, only grew more furious. It roared and spewed flames in every direction.
"Damn it, Frankenstein! Stop enraging the creature!" Dan complained.
"I am not doing that! I was trying to kill it!" Frankenstein protested.
"You're not going to kill that huge thing! It's beyond our level!" Lady Shadow said. "Or at least not while we have humans to protect—goddamn it!"
As the vampires and werewolves struggled, a portal suddenly opened not far away.
"Over there! Run!"
Erika sprinted faster, carrying a mother and her child in her arms. Harumi carried three orphaned children on her back and shoulders; they clung tightly, crying uncontrollably and pulling her hair.
"Almost there…!"
"We're almost…! There—Ah?!"
Erika's eyes widened. A giant, familiar figure stepped through the portal.
A massive, muscular, hairy man emerged—yellow sunglasses, torn t-shirt, white pants, black shoes.
Long hair flowed like a golden lion's mane. He smiled warmly as he saw his beloved daughter and his sisters.
"Dad?!"
"B-Beowulf!"
"Damn bastard, look at the time you show up!"
His daughter rushed to hug him while his sisters scolded him.
"Papa's here, pups! Get back—I got this. Sorry about being late! I ended up encountering some kind of Dream Entity or whatever and had to punch it extra hard! Anyway…" He gently set his daughter aside and nodded at her. "Papa's got this, puppy. Stand aside."
"Haaa…"
Erika dropped onto her knees and relaxed completely.
Yes—with her father here, even in this chaos.
Things were going to be okay.
"GRUOOOHHHH!"
Beowulf stepped forward as the three vampires rushed past him.
Their eyes widened at the immense masculinity radiating from the giant, hairy man.
Then they watched him transform into a colossal blonde werewolf gleaming with divinity.
The Chimeric Kaiju faced the werewolf and roared, unleashing a sea of flames from its jaws that rained down on Beowulf.
However.
"Werewolf King's Golden Soul Aura Arts."
"First Form – Soul-Shattering Fist!"
In the blink of an eye, Beowulf blurred forward. He pierced the beast's massive chest, leaving a gigantic, bleeding hole.
BOOOMMM!!!
Thunder and light crackled within the wound. The monstrosity vomited blood and crashed to the ground, shaking the earth.
It was dead.
"God damn it, that thing was tough. I felt it all over my old bones," he sighed, shaking his slightly bruised hand. "Alright puppies, you've done well! Let's get the hell out of here!"
Erika smiled warmly, admiration swelling in her chest.
"That's my dad right there!" she declared, glaring at the trembling humans. They nodded nervously in agreement. "He's the strongest!"
