"Hermes! Don't overexert yourself!" Alma panicked.
"No, it's fine!" Hermes said, teleporting them even higher. "We have to find that bitch and end this quickly! Ugh...!"
"I know, and your help is greatly needed for that," Root said. "But you must take care of yourself as well!"
Root grabbed Hermes and Alma with his giant skeletal hand, infusing his Aura of Life into them and healing their exhaustion as much as he could.
Hermes didn't fully heal, but he felt much better, quickly teleporting them upward as a giant fist nearly crushed them.
"STOP RUNNING!"
Toyouke-Ōmikami roared furiously. Giant crimson eyes across the titan she had manifested opened, firing dozens of beams of annihilation. They were erratic, firing everywhere constantly, aiming to confuse her opponents.
And it somewhat worked!
BOOOM!
"Aaaagh!"
"Ugh?!"
Hermes and Alma groaned as one of the beams struck them, though it hit Root's giant body instead, spreading cracks through his bones.
"Root! Are you okay?!" Alma asked.
"I'm fine...! These bones are tough enough!" Root roared, rushing upward with his Aura Wings. "Hermes, once more!"
"A-Alright!"
Hermes quickly teleported them higher and higher again, dodging beams, though occasionally they struck Root, weakening him and spreading more cracks across his body.
"Root! This is too much!" Alma said.
"We're almost there!" Root roared.
Around thirty percent of his bones had already shattered and fallen to pieces. His skeletal body looked tattered and greatly damaged...
And yet, Root knew they couldn't stop here.
"I have to find my brother. I have to face him... and I must ask him why he did the things he did."
To save this world. To uncover the truth behind Oberon's betrayal—why he killed his own family and burned his own kingdom.
To stop him from doing whatever he was trying to do, because Root believed it was his responsibility as Oberon's brother...
He knew he could not let himself die again until he had accomplished his goals.
"I-I can't teleport us anymore!" Hermes groaned, vomiting blood. "T-This is my limit...!"
"Hermes!" Alma panicked, as Root's healing barely kept him stable.
"It's fine. This is good enough!" Root roared, as they reached the titan's chest, where Toyouke-Ōmikami was located.
"Look at you! All wounded, small, pitiful! You truly believe you can stop me now?! I'll crush you and end this!"
Toyouke-Ōmikami furiously swung the titan's fists toward Root and Alma. The group rushed forward, Alma manipulating the barrier encompassing even Root, trying to reach Toyouke-Ōmikami as quickly as they could.
"You damn bitch! Don't underestimate us!" Alma roared, her Aura surging and turning into hundreds of giant fists, punching through the sharp branches aimed at her and blocking the beams coming their way.
However, Toyouke-Ōmikami's attacks were incessant. The titan's two fists caught up to them, and the monster's palms opened, attempting to crush them within.
"Uugh! R-Root!"
Alma panicked as she saw Root's body gaining more cracks. He alone tried to stop the two palms made of black wood from crushing them.
"I cannot lose...! I cannot lose right now! Oberon! I WON'T LOSE UNTIL I SEE YOU APOLOGIZE FOR WHAT YOU DID TO OUR FAMILY!"
RUMBLE!
The eyes of Alma and Hermes widened as they saw Root's Aura erupt with golden flame, holy light spreading through his body.
His bones suddenly glowed like gold—and became gold—shining brightly with a metallic hue.
His wounds healed instantly. He gained bone wings, rainbow crystal horns, and scales across his body, giving him a regal appearance.
Even more so as a floating crown made of glowing golden light appeared above his skull.
"This power...!"
Root's eyes widened as he remembered the power Drake had shared with all the dragons before.
At the very moment he was reaching his limits, this radiant light surged, giving him newfound strength.
The Golden Dragon King Form!
"HAAAAAAH!"
Root roared, his Aura erupting. His skeletal fists crushed through both wooden palms as giant explosions of golden flames vaporized them.
BOOOM!
"W-Wha...?! What is that form?! Even now, you still keep fighting back?! WHY?! WHY WON'T YOU DIE ALREADY?!"
Toyouke-Ōmikami cried as Root rushed forward. Alma and the others grabbed onto his bones over his back, Alma infusing all her Mana into Root, making his Aura triple—no, quadruple—in size.
FLUOSH!
"Root, grab it!"
Alma threw Knife toward Root's claws. The dragon grabbed the divine weapon, which glowed with pink moonlight, becoming a gigantic katana.
Their combined roars echoed as Root swung Knife forward, piercing through all the monstrous wooden branches, creatures, and famine specters Toyouke-Ōmikami summoned to defend herself.
SLAAASH!
"A-Aahhhh!"
Toyouke-Ōmikami screamed in horror as the slash of bright golden light destroyed all her familiars. The giant golden dragon skeleton reached her, his blade stabbing her chest.
CRAAASH!
"G-Gaaaahh?!"
She vomited blood, her eyes twisting in horror and disbelief as she glared at the giant golden skull looming over her, its empty black eyes glowing with red light...
"It's over!"
Root swung the sword upward, slicing the goddess into two halves. Bright golden flames erupted from her sliced body and soul.
"Aaaaahhhhh!!! Susanoo-samaaaaaa!!!"
BOOOMMM!!!
While screaming her master's name, Toyouke-Ōmikami perished. Her body and soul exploded, vaporizing into ashes. The Demonic Stigma within her was destroyed as well, leaving no trace behind.
Her Domain quickly disappeared. Everyone dropped onto the floor of the Endless Castle. Root quickly noticed the castle's space had become distorted, with cracks everywhere...
"We're finally back..." Alma sighed. "Aahh, you guys! Are you alright?!"
She realized everyone had been battered by the battle, but they were alive at the very least...
"The twins have stabilized, but they're still rather weak," Root said. "Luckily for us, the cursed miasma seems to have settled down. There's much less now."
"Phew... Ah! I can feel them! Everyone!" Alma said with a smile. "Root, hurry! We have to regroup with everyone else!"
"Very well!" Root nodded, rushing through the castle while carrying everyone.
He didn't realize he had yet to change back to normal—still looking like a giant golden dragon skeleton...
