Chapter 2385: Clash Of Venerables II [21]
----
"Helena? Oh, you mean the human female I have inside my body? I’m afraid I cannot do that. She is essential to my plans. Her powers are, as you said, fueling my growth. I require her. So I will not give her back."
"What?! BASTARD! GIVE HER BACK! YOU DON’T HAVE THE RIGHT TO TAKE HER AWAY FROM US!"
"Oh, you sure love to scream. You are so... imperfect. I cannot believe my creator ever thought making you was a good idea."
TRUUUM!
"Aaaaggh!"
Jake groaned in agony as he collapsed to the floor. A giant palm made of psychic power pressed down on him, beginning to break his bones. His screams echoed loudly.
"Stop...! Stop that!" Lucia cried. "Just who...! Who are you?! What are you?! What do you even want?!"
"I should be the one asking you that question, to be quite honest... However, I will humor you just this once. I am, as you can guess, the entity known as ’Uroboros’. I was created by my maker several years ago. My original purpose was to help revive his daughter, and I believe I fulfilled that purpose already. Whatever happened to her afterward is not my responsibility."
"Y-You revived her...?! You turned her into a monster! A bloodthirsty monster!" Chris roared. "That girl...! If only Ivan had let her rest in peace..."
"Monster? I would say she was ’upgraded’. And with the Mold, she became an even more evolved lifeform. I envied her back then, but now I’ve learned that bonding with the Mold would not have worked. It will overpower mine, and that thing ended up controlling her, unfortunately taking her away from my own control."
"You...! Don’t tell me you’re the one behind the zombie apocalypse?! And the Mutated Espers tormenting everyone?!" Lucia asked.
"That I am. But I wouldn’t call it an ’apocalypse’. Rather, it was an ’awakening’. Your world is now a much better place, populated by my kind. And this place as well—it is slowly shaping into a wonderful new world of perfection."
"Perfection? Hah..." Chris laughed. "Don’t make me laugh. The only thing you create are abominations..."
"You may think that, but they’re perfect lifeforms. They no longer age, they no longer degrade, they no longer get sick, and they can live forever with the bare minimum of food. They can even hibernate for long periods without eating. It is everything my creator wanted and more. We are perfect lifeforms—unlike humanity, who age, get sick, and die... and above all, we are unified. We are not divided. We don’t fight one another. We are all a single family."
"Family?! You’re full of bullshit..." Jake said. "Your kind are nothing but monsters. Those poor people are all suffering! You’re delusional! But can I even expect any reason from a monster like you?! You were my father’s failure, and I am what he strived to create! I am his son, not his clone!"
Jake began pushing back, his bones regenerating as his aura surged. But before his opponent, he was still nothing more than a small ember trying to resist the ocean.
"I commend your bravery, but I pity your ignorance and foolishness. I’ve been watching you, all of you, you know? I’ve observed how you struggle, how you battle, and how you barely win each of your fights. Your existences are commendable, and I, dare I say, quite admire your tenacity. You’ve managed to defeat my strongest soldiers, so I am out of bodyguards. All of you are perfect for that role. I have stopped marching toward my destination—the perfect vessel for my perfect being—to bless you with a fragment of my own self."
The monstrous being’s tentacles grew various tumors, and from them, three long worm-like parasites popped out, groaning and hissing.
"Shit, shit!"
Chris saw the worms beginning to crawl slowly toward them, as the monstrous Uroboros looked on in silence, smiling with all of his jaws.
"You will join my family; you should be happy. Rejoice. Please, smile. I am so happy to have you join me. Let us achieve perfection together, shall we? All of this is happening for a reason. And now, our paths are finally coming together. Let us share the same dream."
"BULLSHIT! I AM NOT SHARING ANY DREAM WITH YOU!"
Jake roared, his body growing monstrous as his Psychic Aura surged, clashing against Uroboros and pushing him back.
RUMBLE!
With a powerful stomp, he crushed the worm crawling toward him. Then he heard Lucia scream, spotting the worm slithering up her leg.
"Jake! Help me! I-I can’t use my powers!"
"LUCIA!"
Jake rushed forward to help her.
"Where do you think you’re going, my little clone? I believe you’re going too far."
Giant tentacles chased Jake, slamming into the floor but always missing as the young man narrowly avoided their attacks. He impaled the worm just as it was about to reach Lucia’s neck and bite her with its sharp fangs, then fired his bony knife, piercing the other worm crawling up Chris’ back.
CRASH!
The bony blade struck the wooden wall nearby before exploding, combusting its own blood into a massive blast that scorched Uroboros’ true body. The monster screamed in agony.
"GYAAAAAHHHH!"
The pain caused its Psychic Domain to vanish, allowing Lucia to regain her Esper Powers and Chris his strength. Lucia didn’t waste a second, firing hundreds of fireballs at Uroboros, bombarding his entire body relentlessly.
BOOM! BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!
The explosions pushed the aberration back, but it quickly retaliated. His psychic aura surged like an invisible wave of energy, shielding him from the flames as he roared furiously.
"YOU PUNY INSECTS THINK YOU CAN EVEN HARM ME?! I’LL SLAUGHTER YOU ALL FOR DARING TO REJECT MY GENEROUS OFFER!"
His countless tentacles pierced the floor, walls, and ceiling, appearing everywhere at once and rushing toward the trio, who swiftly tried to evade and block a barrage of dozens of attacks per second.
Chris punched anything that came close, Lucia burned it all with her flames, and Jake cleaved through with his bone blades while also firing explosive bone bullets that detonated into highly noxious flames and acid.
