Chapter 2414: Clash Of Venerables II [50]
-----
When Drake had told Surtr to go take care of Héluna until he returned, the young dragon had agreed instantly. But when he learned that his sister was heading into an even more dangerous mission, he had hesitated, insisting he should stay by her side as much as possible.
Drake had stopped him, explaining that he and the other dragons were the only ones who could possibly clash against Héluna and hold her in place, especially since she was even stronger than Deus.
"Brother! Please calm down. I know you’re mad at Drake, but he’s your master and he knows best!" Lucia insisted.
"I know, but even then, I don’t want to leave your side. Not after what happened..." Surtr muttered, looking genuinely sad.
"What... what happened?" Lucia asked.
"No... nothing," Surtr said with a forced smile, noticing the two Split Souls following them. They weren’t exactly Drake; they remained silent and rarely interacted.
To maximize their power without making Drake lose focus, his Split Souls possessed independent minds, though they were still connected to his soul and part of him.
"The Main Body said we must split once we reach our destination," the first Split Soul spoke. He had long blonde hair. "I am sorry about this, Surtr, but those were his orders, and he always knows best."
"Ngh, I know!" Surtr groaned angrily.
"Don’t worry. I swear to protect her life," the second Split Soul said. He had long blue hair. "You don’t have to worry about anything, kid."
"Are you my master or not? I’m really confused right now! You talk like you aren’t him," Surtr said.
"We are part of him, fragments, Split Souls, but we are also independent," the blonde one explained. "He believes this gives us more strength and distinct personalities, helping with decision-making and easing the pressure on his mind. I was nicknamed Gold."
"And I am Azure. Nice to meet you," the other Split Soul added. "Our mission is to help you fight and survive, to delay Oberon’s resurrection and stop Uroboros as much as possible. Whether we die or not is inconsequential. We’ll simply return to the master and become one with him again."
"I see..." Surtr nodded. "Well, alright. Who’s coming with us dragons?"
"Me," Azure said with a gentle smile. "Gold is going with your sister. He was designed to be overprotective."
"Hahah... Master always thinks of everything, see?" Emerald giggled beside Surtr.
"Hey guys? Sorry to interrupt your emotional moment, but you crybabies better get ready. We’re already here!" Amethyst shouted, alerting Emerald and Surtr. "She’s over there! Did she spot us so quickly?!"
"Naturally! She is the Venerable of the Moon," Hydra laughed. "Her eyes are said to oversee all heavens through the moon itself, a moon she refined personally. Is that true, Celene? You come from there, right?"
"I had no idea it was refined by her?!" Celene exclaimed. "I think that’s just a myth! R-Right? I never asked my mother if they were friends or anything but seeing how they’re cooperating with Oberon to destroy the world, I doubt it!"
"She’s coming this way!" Root warned. "Alma, Hermes, stay behind us and don’t engage directly. You’re here for support, got it?"
"Got it!" Alma nodded. "Hermes, I’ll supply all the Mana you need. Use your abilities as much as you can!"
"I will!" Hermes agreed, staring at Héluna. "Damn, why does she have to be evil? She’s really pretty."
"...What?" Alma raised an eyebrow, glaring at him jealously.
"I-I was just saying! Don’t get mad now..." Hermes laughed nervously. "You know you’re the prettiest woman I’ve ever met, right?"
"Hmph..." Alma crossed her arms, cheeks flushing. "A-Anyway, this is not the time, Hermes! Get your head in the fight!"
"For being so pretty, you sure are foul-mouthed though..." Hermes muttered. A faint tinge of regret flickered in his eyes, which only made Alma angrier.
"Uhh..." Root didn’t want to get involved in their married-couple banter, so he just stared awkwardly. "Alma! Alma! Get ready, okay? Please stop worrying about nonsense."
"Nonsense?! They aren’t nonsense— Ah shit, she’s coming!" Alma screamed as Root and Hermes facepalmed.
"Were you sent by that Drake? He disappeared just now, busy fighting that demon, I assume?"
Héluna descended, her voice echoing through the surroundings. She sounded desperate. Her formation had barely protected her master’s new body from complete ruin, but most of the internal systems were destroyed, and the Elven Gods working for Oberon were scrambling to repair everything.
"We’ve come to stop you," Surtr declared.
"You? Pfff... Hah... HAHAHAHAHAHA!"
Héluna burst into laughter at the sight of Surtr trying to act tough. She couldn’t help but mock him, especially since she knew he was a young Venerable and clearly terrified.
Gold and Azure exchanged a glance and nodded.
TRUUUM!
"Hm?!"
In that instant, a massive formation materialized out of nowhere. Rainbow runes spun around the Elven Venerable, merging into a giant cage of blinding colors, light, and primordial energy.
Héluna looked around in confusion. She hadn’t sensed or seen the formation coming, and it had appeared beneath her before she could react.
Her Aura and Intent couldn’t negate it. Even her Soul Gear and Venerable Equipment were useless against it.
"Amazing. Whatever you did is commendable... that damned dragon has truly grown," she admitted. "So you two are his Split Souls? He dared steal my master’s technique so shamelessly. Well, it certainly seems that way. However, you are not as strong as he is, are you?"
Héluna smiled. She considered it fortunate that Drake had been caught in Hajun’s attacks and literally punched into another world, buying her and Oberon precious time.
Yet he had still sent all his allies, allies she had once looked down upon. A grave mistake.
But not anymore.
"I won’t underestimate you. I have to admit you’ve got some tricks!"
"{Celestial Moon Dance}!"
Her Aura surged. She manifested a pair of bladed fans and began to dance, spinning gracefully as thousands of moonlight slashes covered the cube and spread tiny cracks across its surface.
"It won’t hold much longer! Go!" Azure shouted, pouring all his power and energy into the cube to keep the formation intact. "Hurry!"
Gold nodded and sped toward the half-ruined castle. In its center floated a massive factory-like structure, surrounded by a crumbling formation and dozens of Elven Gods frantically trying to repair it.
"It’s a pity. I wished I could stay and fight you, Héluna!" Belle teased with a loud laugh. "Hahahaha!"
"Don’t provoke her, Belle!" Skadi scolded, using her Aura to carry Ruby, Lucia, Chris, and Jake as they flew away.
"Grrrr! One thing after another! And now those two bitches are revived and mocking me?! The nerve of these lowly maggots! YOU WON’T GET NEAR MY MASTER!"
RUMBLE!
Her dance intensified. Cracks spread rapidly across the cube until it finally shattered. Azure was thrown back but quickly recovered, joining the dragons as he fused his rainbow aura with theirs, granting one final boost before Héluna roared and charged.
"Move out of the way!"
Her Aura exploded outward, glowing with pink, purple, black, and silver light. A starry night sky formed above her, crowned by a radiant silver moon that gathered energy and fired several devastating moonlight beams.
"{Eclipsing Moon Ray}!"
BOOM! BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!
The dragons roared as their Soul Unification construct raised its arms in perfect sync, absorbing the beams. Explosions weakened the aura slightly, but not enough to destroy the entire construct.
"How annoying! You insolent fools truly believe you can stop me?!"
RUMBLE!
The titanic ethereal dragon clashed against Héluna and her expanding Aura. Starlight and shadows swirled within it.
No Venerable wielded only a single Element. As they forged more Ascendancy Laws, their power grew exponentially. Héluna possessed ten Ascendancy Law Rings—ten powerful laws she governed, the same number Deus had gained after absorbing Fortune’s legacy.
"{Eternal Umbral Night}: {Abyssal Star Shower}!"
She spread her arms. The surrounding space transformed into an eternal night sky. Millions of stars appeared and rained down, relentlessly bombarding the Soul Unification. Azure swiftly shaped the aura into massive scale shields, protecting the group.
BOOM! BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!
Surtr roared. His flames spread through the construct, turning the entire beast crimson. He charged forward, the others following as his sword blazed with golden fire.
"RAAAAHHH!"
He swung downward with all his might, attacking Héluna directly. She smirked, dodging several blazing slashes before raising her hand. The stars compressed around the Soul Construct and detonated.
BOOOMMM!!!
