Chapter 2421: The Beginning Of The End [2]

"The next best thing is fire. Burn them until they can’t even move anymore!" Chris shouted.
"And it just so happens I’m an expert in that field!" Lucia replied, thrusting her hands forward. A blast of crimson flames roared outward, engulfing the incoming infected.
They twisted through the air, dodging the fire and even conjuring barriers of divine power, surprising Lucia and the others. These parasites had already adapted perfectly to their hosts, granting them full control over the gods’ supernatural abilities.
"Hmph. You’re still not that strong!"
She raised her hands higher. Towering pillars of flame erupted beneath the infected, catching them off guard. Many exploded into ashes mid-flight, while others plummeted as blackened, charred corpses.
"She’s good," Skadi said.
"Yep," Belle nodded. "Let’s get to work too. Can you make fire, icy queen?"
"Of course. Mastering one element doesn’t mean we can’t use others," Skadi explained. "Ice is my specialty, but every element is within my reach. Specializing in one and then mastering the rest simply allows the specialty to shine brightest."
"Yeah, yeah, I know," Belle said. Her throat began glowing with intense red light. "But can you do this?"
She was a dragon now, after all. The egg she had hatched from had been constantly infused with Drake’s blood, giving her a fully draconic form and making her the first true Dream Dragon.
TRUUUM!
A torrent of draconic dream flames erupted from her delicate mouth, incinerating the infected gods rushing toward them. Their bodies calcified instantly. Tentacles writhed uselessly and their regeneration proved meaningless.
More importantly, her flames burned and devoured their very souls. There would be no afterlife for them. Belle wasn’t as merciful as Skadi or Drake. She had earned the title "Demon Venerable" for good reason—she possessed few moral boundaries.
"You’re merciless," Skadi sighed, rolling her eyes. "But they’re Oberon’s servants, so they deserve it."
The Ice Queen valued law and righteousness. She believed most lives, even those of criminals, deserved a second chance under strict supervision. Of course, if that chance was squandered, execution followed.
Yet some monsters were irredeemable from the start, unworthy of any mercy.
Oberon, who had tried to destroy the world, killed billions, and manipulated Yggdrasil from the shadows for hundreds of thousands of years, was one such monster.
And that judgment extended to anyone blindly loyal to him.
FLUOSH!
Azure flames surged from Skadi’s hands, enveloping the infected. They froze and burned simultaneously, bodies mummifying before crumbling into dry fragments on the ground.
Skadi, Lucia, and Belle cleared the attacking gods as the group pushed deeper into the enormous facility. More infected gods awaited inside, glaring with glowing red eyes and tentacles sprouting from their bodies.
"Intruders! Don’t let them reach our master!"
"Protect the hive!"
"Protect it! Protect it!"
"Kill the intruders! Kill them at all costs!"
"Sacrifice your lives if you must...!"
Their speech had degraded even further. They referred to themselves as a "hive." Though still loyal to Oberon, they were unconsciously protecting Uroboros and delaying the group from reaching him.
They charged at Skadi and Belle, who led the front. The two Venerables greeted the horde with waves of flame, burning through bodies as they advanced through the labyrinthine corridors.
Ruby guarded the rear, protecting the three Earthlings. She unleashed her blood magic, draining her enemies dry and leaving behind withered mummies. The blood was tainted, so she avoided drinking it. Instead, she converted it into blood energy and then into searing blood flames that finished off the desiccated infected.
Gold stayed in the center, guiding the party while scanning their surroundings. He raised barriers and repelled any infection that tried to slip through, though such attempts were rare.
Lucia bolstered their flames. Hers proved even more potent than the Venerables’ because of her unique ability to deal increased damage to anything originating from Earth—she was an Earthling herself.
Jake fed Gold valuable information, helping them navigate the facility. The sheer number of infected elves was exhausting. It felt as though Oberon had somehow found a way to replicate gods endlessly.
And they weren’t far from the truth.
"INTRUDERS DETECTED. INTRUDERS DETECTED."
As they carved their way through the infected elven gods, loud robotic voices suddenly boomed throughout the high-tech facility. The walls shuddered, revealing dozens of spider-like robots with massive metallic claws and cannons. They leaped out and charged without hesitation.
"ELIMINATE INTRUDERS AT ALL COST."
"PROTECT MASTER."
"ELIMINATE INTRUDERS AT ALL COST."
"PROTECT MASTER."
Their repetitive chants grated on everyone’s ears. The Earthlings certainly hadn’t expected robots in what they had assumed was a medieval fantasy world.
"What the hell?! Robots?!" Lucia cried. "Ugh, they’re impervious to my fire!"
"They’re not part of Oberon’s original power," Skadi explained, crushing several machines beneath giant fists of ice crystals. "He stole the Demon of Technomancy’s Inheritance and claimed those abilities for himself."
"These things have no souls or minds, so they’re completely immune to dream magic. Shit!" Belle laughed, realizing how obvious her specialty’s weakness was. "Well, thankfully I’ve got a strong body! Time to roar, as Drake would say!"
FLUOSH!
Belle transformed instantly. Her elegant half-fox form expanded into a thirty-meter-tall dragon covered in pink fur and gleaming pink metallic scales. Long, furred wings spread wide, multiple fox-like tails lashed behind her, and sharp fangs and claws glinted dangerously.
Her original "true form" had once been a gigantic, monstrous pink fox. Now, reborn in this draconic body, her transformation had evolved into something far greater.
"GRAAAAHHH!"
She surged forward, swinging massive claws that shredded robots into scrap metal.
CRASH! CRASH! CRASH!
With Belle clearing the path, the group advanced much faster. Gold summoned barriers to shield them from countless laser beams firing from walls, ceiling, and floor.
"There are more and more robots everywhere!" Lucia shouted, struggling to conjure flames hot enough to damage them. "Come on... compress... compress... Uaagh!"
BOOOM!
She finally succeeded, compressing her flames into a dense, plasma-like mass. Explosions erupted that melted floors, walls, and ceilings alike. The robots dissolved into pools of molten metal and chemicals.
"Oh damn, well done!" Chris called. "That was incredible! Here, catch these!"
Using his monstrous physical strength, Chris kicked, punched, and crippled a dozen robots before hurling them straight into Lucia’s range. She swiftly turned them into molten slag with successive blasts.
BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!
