Chapter 1077: Healing Magic
Chapter 1077: Healing Magic
"I started my journey as a hunter. Entering the tower was out of option for me. So I joined a guild as a hunter and entered the portals instead. I learned many things as a hunter. It was less risky. Since the 'founder' had created a device that could detect the difficulty level of the portals, it was an easy choice."
Kaguya continued her story for a few more minutes, and Rudy listened to her attentively.
"And then I decided to enter the tower. After a year of working as a hunter, I was confident of my combat skills and was certain that I could at least clear the trial floor. I simply wanted the system. So I enrolled in the combined program organized by various guilds."
Rudy was getting more and more curious as Kaguya continued.
"And upon clearing the trial floor, I got the system and a skill. After that, I left the tower and never went back again."
"Skill?" Rudy raised a brow. "May I ask what kind of skill?"
Kaguya stared at Rudy for a moment and raised her hand. A few seconds later, a green aura began to circle around Kaguya's palm.
"Oh! You are a healer?!" Rudy exclaimed in excitement.
Kaguya simply nodded and pulled her hand back.
"That's great! So it was worth entering the tower and— wait, if you are a healer, then why are you working as a nurse in a normal hospital? You could join the guild or apply for a magical hospital contract. I am sure that would be better in every way."
Magic hospital was different from a normal hospital. Since the invention of potions and the existence of healers came into the light, the doctrine of medicine changed greatly.
A top class high ranking healer could attach severed limbs within a specific timeframe. Even life-threatening diseases and disorders became easy to cure.
However, using a healer or a potion on a normal individual was risky. The amount of mana endurance was non-existence in normal civilians who hadn't entered the tower and awakened their abilities.
Thus, a magic hospital was created for heroes and hunters.
"That was my intention. I even passed the medical exam and got my dealer's license, but… I wasn't happy. I don't know why, but I was attracted to work as a nurse in this hospital. It was crazy. I kept hearing a voice asking me to work here.
I thought I was possessed or something, so I even went to a spiritualist who diagnosed me and told me that it was my destiny to work in this hospital."
With a casual shrug, Kaguya added, "I gave up, since there was no solution."
'Destiny, huh? I met Kaguya in this hospital after I got into that accident. Since I know there is an external force interfering with my life— whether it be a good or evil— is it also affecting the people who were close to me in the previous timeline?' Rudy wondered with a serious look on his face.
Noticing the change in Rudy's expression, Kaguya uttered, "Please don't include all that in the assignment. I only answered because you asked. Otherwise, I…"
Kaguya stopped and thought to herself, 'Wait, why did I tell him all that? It was a personal thing which I haven't even told to my close friends. To think that I would become so defenseless against a high school boy…."
SIGH!
"If you are done with your questions, I would like you to leave. I have a report to finish."
"Wait, I have one more question."
"..." Kaguya squinted her eyes and stared at Rudy.
"How far do you think the doctrine of healing magic has progressed? Do you think one day we would be able to use healing magic on normal people?" Rudy asked with a composed look on his face.
"It has been progressing greatly. But I don't think anyone is researching to find a way to be able to use healing magic on normal people. But recently they achieved a breakthrough."
"Oh? What kind of breakthrough?" Rudy asked curiously.
"I am not privy to that information." She shrugged her shoulders. "They haven't made it public yet, so no one knows. And if you are going to ask me how I know, it's because my spiritualist friend told me about it. Now, please don't ask any personal questions that can get both of us in trouble."
"I understand." Rudy nodded. Just a second later, he asked, "Would you mind asking me one last question?"
Rudy got a judging glare from Kaguya, which was natural. He himself found himself annoying.
"Do you think it can restore memories?"
"...!" Kaguya's interest piqued for some reason. "What do you mean by that?"
"Like, let's say a person has amnesia. They don't remember anything about them. Do you think healing magic can help with that?"
Kaguya raised her brows and pondered for a few seconds.
"..."
"Why are you asking that?"
"Uhm… for me."
"Do you have amnesia?"
"No, but something similar. There are certain things which I don't remember but I am sure I know of them. It's like I can't recall them."
"Isn't that normal for everyone? It's impossible for a human brain to remember every moment of life. Why would you—"
"That's not it. I am aware that I don't remember it. Don't you think it's strange to be aware of memory loss?"
"Hmm. Have you tried normal treatment?"
"It won't work." Rudy shook his head. "I want your help. Can you help me?"
Rudy had spent the worst years of his life with Kaguya and he knew what type of person she was. If someone came to her for help, she wouldn't turn them away.
After pondering for a few seconds, she let out a sigh and muttered, "I really don't want to get involved, but… fine."
She plucked a paper from a diary and wrote something on it before handing it to Rudy.
"Here. Go to this address. I am sure they will be able to help you."
Rudy looked at the note and noticed an address.
'Great! Should I push my luck, though?' Rudy asked himself.
"Can you come with me?" he asked with a smile on his face.
