Chapter 3223 Faster

Whisker's words came like ice-cold water splashing all over him. Alex turned toward Jungwen and then Qing Tianchui.

"Is it not working?" Alex asked the two.

"I don't think I'm helping anything," Jungwen answered. "My presence is unnecessary."

Alex frowned and turned toward the other blood beast. "What is

happening with your Soul Confluence?" he asked Pearl's father.

"It's working, but not entirely," the beast said. "It's almost there, but not completely."

"But why?" Alex asked, unable to come up with an answer himself.

"I don't know," the dragon said immediately, a look of panic filling him. His son wasn't doing as well as they had hoped. Pain still wrecked him, and the dragon found it hard to watch.

He turned toward Alex, a look of worry and anger flashing through them. Worry that his son might die. Anger that he had been the one to push this to happen.

"Calm down," Alex said upon noticing the beast's emotions. "You need to focus on Soul Confluence. Don't let anything happen to your son."

Despite what the dragon was feeling, he nodded and continued. Alex placed his palm on the dragon's body, providing the blood aura the beast had lost during Soul Confluence.

With blood aura empowering the Azure Dragon, he could continue for so much more. Even if he was spent by the end of it all, he passed away, he would be happy so long as he got to see his son's alive face.

'Son...' a thought came to the dragon. His head whipped toward Alex, the question coming out of him before he could react to it.

"Am I... really the father?" Qing Tianchui asked.

Alex turned with a confused look, followed by Bai Jingshen. The other two beasts next to the corner were even more confused.

"What are you saying?" Bai Jingshen asked. "Of course you are-"

"The test!" Alex said, realizing what the Azure Dragon was getting at. He turned toward Bai Jingshen. "He wasn't entirely Pearl's father, remember?"

Bai Jingshen paused, only now remembering the father-son test from nearly 2 years ago and the strange result that came with it.

"What does that mean?" he asked, standing up slowly. "What can we do?"

"I don't know," Alex said, taking away Jungwen's blood beast back into the Blood God's Manual. It was at least obvious that whatever was happening was not because of the White Tiger's bloodline.

It was the uniqueness of Pearl itself.

Alex's eyes narrowed a little, a horrifying thought coming to him. Was Qing Tianchui that he had prepared through Blood Beast just not unique enough to help Pearl?

Alex thought back to when Jungwen helped with evolving the White Tigers and remembered how simpler that had been. Jungwen was a blood beast too, so what had changed? Just the fact that Pearl was far too unique?

His mind raced, the pill-enhanced thinking helping him consider many thoughts at once.

'It's not that it's not working. It's just slow. Slow as it may be, it is still helping push Pearl along. It might end up taking twice the time, or thrice, or even five times. But so long as Pearl continues holding on, we can get through this!

Even as Alex heard that, he could visibly see the strain Pearl was under because of the pain he went through. If there was some way to take Pearl's pain onto himself, he would. But there was no way.

The only way to help Pearl was to somehow let the resonance between the Soul Confluence improve even more, so that Pearl's soul could change faster to catch up with his changing body.

All of Alex's thoughts came to a sudden halt.

Faster.

More speed.

Time.

Alex focused his senses on Pearl's body the exact moment the idea came to him. His senses invaded Pearl's body, forcing their way through to find something that should technically be impossible to find.

The soul.

Because the Saint Transformation realm made a person's Nascent Soul fit into their body, at the Immortal realm, the body and soul were technically overlapping at all moments. That was why one was

reflected on the other so easily.

So, even for Alex, it would be normally impossible to just target someone's soul.

However, with Pearl, he had a bond that connected their two souls, so through that bond, and more importantly, this incredibly strong spiritual sense he had with him at the moment, he could find Pearl's

soul in his senses.

The moment he managed to find it all and isolate it away from the body, Alex immediately used the Dao of Temporal Stagnation upon it, slowing down the changes in Pearl's soul.

Just that alone would've ruined it all since the slowly changing soul was even more slowed down, but Alex then turned around and did

the same with Qing Tianchui.

The Azure Dragon felt the world around him come to a crawl and didn't care. He focused only on his soul, helping him improve as much

as he could.

Alex used the least amount of energy he could to keep up the Dao. He was thankful that it was even a Dao. If it had been just some aura, it was impossible to tell how quickly it would've ended. Whisker, Scarlet, and Bai Jingshen watched the situation in awe.

Bai Jingshen understood the least as to what had happened. Whisker had some idea, but he too didn't fully comprehend.

Only Scarlet, who could sense the Time aura, knew what Alex had just done. "He's slowing down time for just the two of them," she said, before quickly amending her words. "No, he's slowing down time just for Pearl's soul. His body is improving at the same rate."

Bai Jingshen's eyes widened in shock as he realized the implications.

"That means... for us, Pearl's soul will improve at a faster rate than it really is, right?" he asked.

Scarlet nodded. "His soul and body will reach equilibrium at a much closer pace now."

Bai Jingshen took a deep breath, thankful that Alex had the Dao. Without it, he had no idea if there was any other method to help

Pearl.
