Chapter 1275 Professional
Chapter 1275: Chapter 1275 Professional
The door of the lead carriage slowly opened. A middle-aged man stepped out.
His expression was calm, yet his eyes were sharp and imposing.
Years of commanding armies had forged an invisible pressure around him.
This was General Lei Jun. The most powerful military figure within thousands of miles.
A younger man exited the carriage shortly afterward.
His features resembled the general’s somewhat, indicating a close relationship.
Father and son.
Both carried themselves with the bearing of seasoned warriors.
Their backs were straight as arrows. Their steps were steady and firm.
To the spectators, it almost looked as though they were advancing onto a battlefield rather than entering a private residence.
Every movement attracted attention. Every step caused countless hearts to tense.
The two men eventually arrived before the castle gates.
Standing guard at the entrance was a young man whom General Lei Jun had never seen before.
The guard wore simple clothing, but his posture was disciplined.
General Lei Jun stopped before him. The younger man beside him remained silent.
The surrounding Golden Armor Legion also halted immediately.
Ten thousand soldiers became motionless at once. The scene was incredibly imposing.
General Lei Jun looked toward the castle entrance before speaking.
“Please inform Master Ross Oakley that I am here to speak with him.”
His tone was polite. Far more polite than many people had expected. The guard immediately straightened.
“I’ll do that, General! Please wait a moment!”
The young man sounded nervous.
After all, the person standing before him was the famous General Lei Jun.
Without wasting another second, he turned around and practically ran into the castle to deliver the message.
Meanwhile, General Lei Jun calmly waited outside. His expression remained composed.
However, countless hidden spies nearly lost their minds from excitement.
The meeting they had all been waiting for was finally about to happen.
On one side stood General Lei Jun and his ten thousand elite soldiers.
On the other stood the mysterious Ross Oakley, who had erased the Ji Clan overnight.
Three minutes later, the guard returned.
However, the expression on his face was somewhat awkward. General Lei Jun immediately noticed it.
The guard hesitated briefly before speaking.
“General… a wife of Master Ross Oakley informed me that Master Ross will only receive you after three hours. He is currently preoccupied with other matters.”
The words caused the younger man’s eyebrows to twitch.
Three hours?
Making a general wait for three hours was an insult in many places.
The guard himself was already preparing for the general to become angry.
After all, Lei Jun commanded armies numbering in the hundreds of thousands.
His authority within the region was immense.
Countless clan leaders would personally rush out to greet him the moment he arrived.
Yet to his surprise, none of that happened. General Lei Jun merely nodded.
“I see.”
His expression remained completely calm.
“That’s fine. We will wait.”
The guard blinked in surprise.
Truthfully, the general had expected something far worse.
A mysterious expert capable of wiping out the Ji Clan overnight was not someone who would care much about military authority or worldly status.
Compared to being outright refused, waiting three hours was already a favorable outcome.
“Please follow me, General.”
The guard respectfully gestured toward the castle interior.
General Lei Jun and the young man followed him without complaint.
Soon, they arrived at a spacious reception hall. The room was lavishly decorated yet surprisingly elegant.
Rare paintings adorned the walls. Ancient spiritual plants emitted refreshing fragrances.
The furniture alone was worth a fortune. The two men were invited to sit.
Servants quickly arrived with various delicacies. Fine wine. Rare spiritual fruits.
Exquisite dishes prepared by master chefs. Everything was presented with impeccable hospitality.
Yet neither General Lei Jun nor his son touched any of it. They simply sat quietly and waited.
The younger man occasionally glanced toward his father.
“Father, is this really necessary?”
He transmitted through divine sense. General Lei Jun calmly took a sip of tea before replying.
“If a man can erase the Ji Clan overnight, then waiting three hours is hardly a difficult task.”
The younger man immediately fell silent.
The truth was that even now, nobody knew what had happened to the Ji Clan.
There were no corpses. The entire clan had simply vanished from existence.
That mystery alone was enough to make any intelligent person cautious. Thus, the two continued waiting.
One hour passed.
Then two.
Then three.
Throughout the entire period, General Lei Jun displayed extraordinary patience.
Not once did he complain. Not once did he show dissatisfaction.
Finally, exactly three hours later, the familiar guard returned.
He bowed respectfully.
“Master Ross Oakley will see you now, General. Please follow me.”
General Lei Jun immediately stood.
“So the time has come.”
The guard nodded before leading the pair deeper into the castle.
The further they walked, the quieter the surroundings became.
After about a minute of walking, they finally arrived at a large courtyard.
There, seated comfortably beneath a pavilion, was a young man.
Ross Oakley.
The moment General Lei Jun and his son laid eyes upon him, both men froze.
Shock flashed across their faces. Not because Ross appeared terrifying.
Not because he radiated overwhelming pressure. Quite the opposite. Ross looked completely ordinary.
In their senses, he appeared no different from a mortal who had never cultivated a single day in his life.
There was no spiritual pressure. No cultivation fluctuations. No indication of strength whatsoever.
Nothing.
General Lei Jun’s eyes narrowed slightly. His son was equally stunned. This was impossible.
Both men possessed considerable cultivation. Yet neither could perceive the slightest hint of Ross’s true strength.
There were only two possibilities.
Either Ross was genuinely a powerless mortal.
Or his cultivation had reached a level so far beyond theirs that they could not even begin to comprehend it.
Neither man was foolish enough to believe the first possibility.
After all, the events of the previous night still echoed throughout Hidden River Fortress.
The Ji Clan had been obliterated.
An entire great clan had disappeared without a trace. And Ross Oakley was responsible.
That fact alone was enough to dismiss any notion that he was an ordinary mortal.
General Lei Jun immediately became even more cautious.
The more harmless Ross appeared, the more dangerous he seemed.
Because only truly terrifying experts could stand before others while appearing completely ordinary.
As the father and son approached, neither dared underestimate the young man sitting before them.
Not even for a moment.
