Chapter 311: Greater Devil Levels
Chapter 311: Greater Devil Levels
Liora only lost her composure for a few more seconds.
Soon after, she calmed herself down and restrained herself from going on a rampage.
She didn’t know if every Evil Spirit was made up of World Origin or if this one was a unique case.
Most importantly, Liora had yet to take stock of the rest of her harvest.
Perhaps once she did, she would find something equally shocking.
Her consciousness swept through the pile of items. She originally had high expectations for them, believing that she was bound to find something precious.
Unfortunately, she discovered only a few items of value in the end.
Most of the objects were books similar to the one she had just read, while many bottles filled with blood—that of demons and humans alike—could be seen.
"The members of the Divine Race are indeed different. Others prepare weapons and trump cards before they go on an adventure."
"On the other hand, these people prepare bottles of blood.", Liora shook her head, and with a move of her consciousness, placed all these items back in the two rings.
She had to admit that these rings came at just the right time. Because of her reincarnation, the Space Orb was no longer with Liora.
Knowing that she had no way to keep it during the reincarnation process, she had entrusted it to Alpha before they left, who had subsequently placed it in her mechanical core.
Only in such a place would it be safe and would have no chance of being lost.
Recalling this, Liora attempted to sense Alpha’s location once again.
Unfortunately, although she could sense that the other party was still alive, Liora was unable to pinpoint her exact location.
She would most likely need to get stronger to achieve this, or at least, get closer to Alpha’s location.
After making the attempt, Liora did not waste any more time.
Her focus shifted to the other half of the battle’s spoils.
It was not the items, nor the two people she had managed to capture.
Instead, it was the changes brought by the Manifestation that only Grandmasters possessed, the saber born from the Blood Blade Technique reaching the peak.
Compared to before, not much had changed on the saber. At least on the surface.
Yet, when Liora’s eyes landed on it, she discovered that a small corner of the saber had unknowingly been dyed golden.
The same held true for her own soul, as a tiny part of it, less than one percent of it, had turned golden as well.
Liora could recognize the golden tinge on both of them.
She had encountered it during her battle with Duke Bloodflower, and more recently, she had seen something similar on the members of the so-called Divine Race.
Indestructible Matter—A substance that only Greater Devils possessed, and which allowed them to be immortal.
Unlike the True Devil stage, the Greater Devil stage was more clearly divided.
At the first level, a Greater Devil washed their physical body with Indestructible Matter and covered it completely, making them invulnerable to physical attacks.
Then, they turned their focus to strengthening their soul using the exact same method.
By the time the second level was completed, both the Devil’s physical body and their soul would be covered in Indestructible Matter, effectively making them immortal.
This was something that most True Devils knew about, but was actually none of their business.
After all, they couldn’t create Indestructible Matter.
Even if they knew that they could improve their combat power this way, they had no way to do it.
Yet now, Liora had actually accomplished this seemingly impossible feat.
She had skipped over the physical stage and had reached the second level, having begun to cover her soul with Indestructible Matter.
Liora did not get lost in excitement. She tried to think of the reason, knowing that this was far more important than the improvement itself.
In the blink of an eye, she had a guess.
"Is it because the saber devoured the word ’Death’?"
"No! I could sense that some changes, albeit smaller, were also happening during my fight with that middle-aged man."
"Can the saber devour the Indestructible Matter of these people and use it to strengthen my soul?"
Liora arrived at such a conclusion, though she had no way to confirm it.
There was no longer the word "Death" for her to devour, while her two captives had already exhausted their Indestructible Matter.
Just when she was thinking of this, Liora’s eyes suddenly opened, and her figure vanished from the wooden hut.
With a flicker, she flashed beside the middle-aged member of the Divine Race, who showed signs of waking up.
It took him quite some time to recover.
As if the total consumption of the Indestructible Matter had dealt a big blow to him, it took him a few minutes to wake up and stare at his surroundings.
When he found Liora towering above him and looking at him silently, his pupils shrank.
When he noticed the innocent woman on the side and the completely different location, he understood his current predicament.
However, he did not display any panic.
Calmness and indifference washed over his face as he stared at Liora without any emotion.
"You should have kept us alive to find information through us. Unfortunately for you, no Divine Clan member will ever betray their Clan.", he shook his head before becoming angry.
"Much less to a mortal like you!", he said and opened his mouth, about to spit at Liora.
But before he could do so, a crimson light flashed.
It struck at his abdomen and made him hiss in pain, putting a halt to his earlier movements.
"Damn it!", he couldn’t help but curse and bend over, as he felt his internal organs flow out.
Such an injury would have been nothing in the past, but now that his Indestructible Matter had been exhausted, he had no way of recovering.
Still, the man gritted his teeth and shut his mouth, remaining silent and ignoring the pain.
Liora’s eyebrows furrowed. Her hand moved again, and the saber sliced through the man’s body, leaving several open wounds behind.
Unfortunately, although the man’s body trembled from the pain and his eyes looked as if they were about to pop out, he refused to communicate with her.
He didn’t even curse, much less speak with her.
Just when Liora was starting to miss Alpha and her torture capabilities, she felt a faint movement from the side.
Perhaps because of the noise or perhaps because enough time had passed, the innocent-looking woman woke up.
Just like her protector before her, she took some time to recover and take in her surroundings.
When she did, the gruesome scene of her protector being dismembered while alive fell into her eyes.
As Liora’s gaze shifted to her, the woman couldn’t help but imagine the scene of the same thing happening to her.
Immediately, tears welled up in her eyes.
"No! Don’t kill me!"
"I’m not with these guys! I’m innocent!", she began to wail loudly.
