Evolution: From Little Devil to Devil Empress

Chapter 330: Demon Sovereign

Chapter 330: Demon Sovereign

Liora felt that the world around her had become extremely illusory.

Although other people might not have noticed, her strength was extraordinary, and she had already regained her true strength.

As such, she was hardly impacted by the illusion.

Still, although she knew that she could tear apart this entire world and return to reality, she didn’t rush to do so.

Standing on top of the high walls, her consciousness moved and covered her figure, as she continued watching the marching army from afar.

Only a few seconds later, the army sent by the nine Divine Clans arrived.

Though it was divided into nine different sections and was not truly integrated, the soldiers looked menacing and especially threatening.

With a sweep of her consciousness, Liora immediately saw that there were several hundred Weapon Masters in their ranks, while several hidden Demon Saints could also be seen.

Such a power should have been beyond what a mere military base could possibly contend with.

However, the Divine Army in the base did not display any fear.

After a brief pause, all the soldiers rushed towards the walls and opened the large gate before rushing out.

Clearly, their decision was to engage in combat outside the military base, unwilling to affect it.

It didn’t take long.

A split second later, the two armies collided outside the walls and engaged in a fierce conflict.

Liora jumped off the walls and gently landed at the center of the battlefield.

She didn’t take any action, and the people around her ignored her existence, as if she didn’t exist in the same world as them.

Liora wandered through the battlefield, calmly observing the battle between the two parties.

The screams and bloodthirsty shouts echoed in her ears, as a deep resentment assaulted her mind and urged her to participate, too.

Liora suppressed this sensation.

She remained composed and steady as she analyzed her surroundings.

"The soldiers of the Divine Clans are stronger individually than those of the Divine Army, which actually doesn’t have a single Demon Saint."

"To contend against a Demon Saint, several Weapon Masters have to cooperate to hold them back."

"However, this is also the Divine Army’s achievement. Normally, a Demon Saint should be able to easily kill a bunch of Weapon Masters.", she thought silently as she watched a dozen figures besiege a middle-aged man holding a long spear.

Although the middle-aged man was stronger and far more powerful than his opponents, the Weapon Masters cooperated seamlessly, as if they could communicate telepathically.

Before long, the man found himself at a disadvantage, ending up with several large wounds riddling his body.

This was not a unique case.

Several such sights could be seen throughout the battlefield.

The Demon Saints were held back and were even at the risk of dying at the hands of Weapon Masters, while the Weapon Masters themselves were also besieged by weaker soldiers.

"The Divine Army is worthy of its name. Despite facing a stronger opponent, it actually has the upper hand.", Liora let out a sigh.

She could see why that was.

Not only was the cooperation between the Divine Army soldiers better compared to the divided army of the Divine Clans, but these soldiers also held a certain resolve and belief.

Unlike the Divine Clan soldiers, who wanted to deal with their opponents while suffering the least harm, the Divine Army soldiers were ready to die.

Even when their bodies were broken apart and they were ready to die, these soldiers would rush forward and entangle with their opponents, ready to take them down with them.

"I’ve heard that the Rulers of the Demon World have giant armies under their command, tasked with invading other worlds and other Demon World Layers."

"I’m afraid that such armies also hold a similar resolve."

This was an eye-opening experience for Liora.

On the road to get stronger, numbers rarely played a factor.

Even if hundreds of True Devils besieged a Greater Devil, the latter should be able to kill them.

Yet now, she saw something different.

While Liora was deep in thought, the fight continued.

Corpses, broken Demon Weapons, and shattered armors littered the ground, as the army of the Divine Clans was pushed back again and again.

"For the Demon God!", Liora heard a murderous shout, as a Weapon Master disregarded his state and rushed forward, catching a Demon Saint by surprise and killing him at the cost of grave injuries.

His achievement caused everyone to erupt in cheers.

The Divine Army’s momentum grew even further, and the gap between the two armies became even more apparent.

But Liora knew that everything was far from over.

Judging by the situation in the Ruins, it was apparent that the Divine Army had lost in the end.

At best, the war had resulted in the mutual destruction of both parties.

As such, she predicted that a great change would soon occur.

It didn’t take long for her suspicions to be confirmed.

Just when another Demon Saint was about to die, a cold snort sounded in the distance.

A powerful aura emerged from the horizon, and from that direction, a claw reached towards the battlefield.

Time stopped, while the air froze.

The enormous claw plunged the entire battlefield into its shadow before it abruptly slammed down.

Liora was also affected.

The claw seemed to regard her as its enemy, too, wishing to harvest her life as it descended at a terrifying speed.

Liora instantly recognized the identity of the person who took action. Or rather, she had recognized their level of power.

The claw obviously belonged to a Demon Sovereign, a being equivalent to a Greater Devil, and the first person of its kind that she had seen so far.

Facing their power, although she judged that they were slightly weaker than a true Greater Devil, the difference was not too big.

For a True Devil like her, facing a Greater Devil should have sealed her death and brought her despair.

Fortunately, Liora was far from being an ordinary True Devil.

"I’ve fought and even killed a true Greater Devil in the past.", she shook her head.

"How dare a mere imitation living in an illusion hurt me?", Liora questioned, and without hesitation, also raised her hand.

Although her figure was many times smaller than the opponent’s and her moves did not carry the same awe-inspiring momentum, their respective power was not much different.

The moment the hand and claw touched in the air, the momentum of the latter suddenly halted, as if it had met an immovable object.

Sensing that the power remaining on her body was about as expected and not too threatening, Liora was about to soar into the sky and slaughter her opponent.

Unfortunately, before she could do so, countless giant space cracks appeared in the sky and the earth.

The originally illusory landscape transformed into bubbles that looked ready to burst. It seemed as if the dream could not contain Liora’s true power.

"An illusion is an illusion after all."

"When the power gets too strong, the illusion is bound to burst.", Liora’s regretful voice was the last thing that could be heard in the gradually shattering world,

In the last moments, a still image flashed in her field of vision.

The battlefield was filled with the mangled corpses of the Divine Army, while the Divine Clans did not fare any better.

Only a small portion of the latter remained alive, and they all carried the same insignia—of a three-clawed beast.

"Was this the outcome of the fight in the real world?"

"Are the Divine Clans still fighting among each other at times like these?"

Several questions arose in Liora’s mind, but she couldn’t get an answer.

Before long, the world finally broke apart.
