Chapter 346: Another Agreement
Chapter 346: Another Agreement
"Outsider, please wait.", the familiar voice of a young man echoed in Liora’s mind.
Her escaping figure briefly paused as she turned her head and looked towards the battlefield.
Or to be more accurate, she stared at the red-haired man who was currently being besieged.
Although his current situation was grave and his body was riddled with injuries, seemingly having no time to pay attention to his surroundings, she recognized that he was the source of the voice echoing in her mind.
Before her consciousness could extend and reply, the Demon God continued on his earlier words:
"Outsider, I know that you plan to take advantage of the situation. In fact, the reason I was forced to appear is partly because of you causing trouble."
"However, you have to understand:"
"Once I die, these people are bound to turn their attention to you next. Although your disguise is good, some clues can still be found by the Demon Sovereigns."
Listening to his words, Liora’s eyes narrowed.
She knew that what the Demon God said was the truth.
If anything, the situation was even more complicated than the Demon God stated.
Most likely, there was a person here who had already discovered her hidden identity.
Still, she didn’t rush to give a positive answer to the Demon God.
Instead, while continuing to flee in "panic", her consciousness fluctuated, and she answered back.
"Since you know that I’m an Outsider, you should understand that I have no reason to confront so many powerful beings for your sake."
"If you wish to get my help, you should be prepared to pay a certain price."
Her words hardly surprised the Demon God. Evidence of this was that he answered back only a split second later:
"One hundred Wisps of Time. Moreover, all the spoils of the battle will belong to you."
The Demon God shed off his previous disguise.
While he was still in the seal, he was bartering over a couple of Wisps of Time, like a greedy businessman.
Yet now, he offered one hundred without any hesitation.
Similarly, Liora didn’t make a counteroffer, nor did she try to ask for more.
She understood that the Demon God would have already offered the highest price possible given his current situation.
Thus, after only a brief moment of hesitation, her consciousness fluctuated, and she agreed.
Upon reaching the agreement, Liora abruptly changed course.
Seemingly terrified of a Demon Saint who happened to be going in the same direction as her, she turned around and fled in the opposite direction.
Perhaps it was a coincidence, but her fleeing route led her to approach the edge of the battlefield.
A few seconds later, when she was only a few kilometers away from the fight, Liora no longer concealed herself.
Her body squirmed, and she regained her original appearance before her figure vanished.
For beings at their level, the distance of a few kilometers was nothing.
Before the Demon Sovereigns could notice her arrival, Liora had already flashed beside one of them.
Her Demon Weapon, an elegant silver umbrella, materialized in her hand, and with a casual wave, its sharp tip was thrust onto her opponent’s forehead.
Liora’s strength already surpassed that of an ordinary Demon Sovereign.
Coupled with the fact that the opponent was engaged in battle and had never expected that someone would sneak attack him, he was left with no time to react.
The umbrella displayed a terrifying piercing ability, blasting through his head and leaving a headless corpse behind.
Liora flicked her wrist, lowered the umbrella, and was about to wipe out the rest of the opponent’s body.
Unfortunately, before she could launch her next attack, a barrage of Demon Weapons came in her direction.
Shaking her head with faint regret, Liora withdrew the umbrella and shook it lightly.
A silver veil fell down and draped over her figure, before it was subsequently attacked by several Demon Weapons.
Unlike the last time that she was besieged, the Sovereign’s Canopy now violently shook.
It showed signs of cracking, like glass that was ready to shatter.
Although the veil ultimately absorbed the impact, it caused Liora’s movements to pause for a moment.
Though that time was brief, it was more than enough for the injured Demon Sovereign to escape. He "looked" around and searched for a Demon Saint to devour, only to find that everyone had already fled away.
Cursing inwardly, this Clan Head made a ruthless decision. Stretching his hand, it grew in size and reached down in the Central Area, grabbing a populous mortal city.
Following the clenching of his fist, the city shattered while everyone in it instantly met their demise.
They quickly transformed into pure energy, helping the Demon Sovereign recover from his injuries.
In the blink of an eye, his head reappeared, while his aura grew even mightier than before.
It was only then that everyone had the time to take in what had just happened.
"Who are you? Do you know what the consequences of helping the Demon God are?"
"This is the common enemy of all nine Divine Clans! No! He is the enemy of the entire world!"
"Are you willing to stand against the whole world for his sake?"
Besides Mayven, the Swordgod Clan’s Head was the strongest Demon Sovereign among the Clan Heads.
Thus, he took the lead in expressing the Divine Clan’s stance and communicated with Liora.
Though he could not understand how a Demon Sovereign had been born without them knowing, he understood that now was not the time to mull over it.
His goal at the moment was to neutralize this person. Otherwise, such a variable might mess up the good situation they had finally created.
Unfortunately, his piercing words did not scare Liora. She smiled at the Swordgod Clan’s Head and asked with some curiosity in her tone:
"The Demon God promised that he would share half the world with me if I sided with him."
"Can you, the Divine Clans, offer a better condition?", she fiddled with the umbrella and questioned.
Though she didn’t explicitly state it, her meaning was obvious:
I’m merely a mercenary. As long as you are willing to pay a price, I can turn from an enemy into a friend.
Her words and innocent expression almost made the Swordgod Clan’s Head choke.
Could the Divine Clans really offer something better than half of the world?
Let alone the Clan Heads, even the Demon God grew speechless.
He didn’t remember having promised her such a thing!
Seeing the silence of the Swordgod Clan’s Head, Liora shook her head with regret.
"If that’s the case, then we have nothing more to say. Let’s fight."
"We will judge the winner based on the result.", she stated and shook her umbrella.
A silver glow shot out. It wrapped around the three Demon Sovereigns, pulling them closer to her and away from the original battlefield.
"Demon God, I can at most help you hold back these three. The other three are left for you to deal with."
"Don’t forget our agreement.", she said casually and cast Retribution.
Instantly, the attacks her Demon Weapon had negated were returned to their owners. Though the Demon Sovereigns were not injured, they were forced to stop and had no time to retreat.
Seeing this, the Demon God was delighted.
Despite his grave injuries, he laughed heartily.
"Hahaha! Don’t worry! After this battle is over, the world will be ours!"
