Chapter 368: Unlucky Guy
Chapter 368: Unlucky Guy
Liora quickly recovered from the bizarre feeling of teleporting.
When she opened her eyes again, she found herself in a familiar, vast crimson land.
The aura of death and destruction filled the air, while the smell of sulfur instantly assaulted her nose.
Her bloodline boiled on its own, while her demonic energy seemed to have become extremely active.
Liora felt that her combat power had become stronger, even though her strength had not improved.
Blessed by the chaotic atmosphere of the Demon World and the Will of the Demon World, she was now able to exert a greater part of her own strength.
"Sure enough, there’s no better place than the Demon World for Devils."
"No wonder every Devil chooses to return to this place, no matter how strong they may be.", Liora couldn’t help but sigh, watching as her essence gradually adjusted.
While waiting for her body to adapt to the environment of the Demon World, she carefully surveyed her surroundings.
Not much had changed since her departure.
The sun in the sky was still lit up, casting its color over the land, while the surrounding landscapes remained eternally unchanged.
This was the Demon World.
Towering above higher-level worlds, it stood at the apex of Heavens.
No matter how many years passed, no matter what happened, this place would remain the same.
Even if the Origin Sea were to be destroyed and the Supreme Laws were to exist no more, the Demon World would still operate without issue.
While she was admiring her birthplace, Liora’s body completed its adaptation to the environment, and she finally moved.
This location was near the Hollow she had once explored and the place where the strange amalgamation of various powers had been born.
Liora could still remember the instinctive fear she had when she faced that creature.
Now, looking back, she realized that her fears were not without reason.
"I’m afraid that the amalgamation did not care about me at the time."
"Otherwise, even if I had reacted quickly, destroyed my body, and was then reborn using Blood Rebirth, I wouldn’t have had the chance to escape."
Liora once thought that the reason she had escaped was because of her quick reaction and decisive actions.
But now, she felt that she might have been mistaken.
With her current strength, she could easily prevent a Greater Devil from destroying themselves. Therefore, there was no reason why an Archdevil could not do the same.
"Most likely, it’s because of my low strength at the time."
"On the other hand, Duke Bloodflower was not as lucky."
"Because of his own high strength and the power that corrupted him, he became the target of the amalgamation and died unwillingly."
Within a couple of moments, Liora had analyzed every tiny event of the past and reached several conclusions.
It took some time before she was able to suppress her thoughts.
The moment she did, she raised her head towards the sky, and her eyes narrowed.
Just when her demonic energy surged, and she was about to soar into the air, though, her movements suddenly stopped.
A flicker flashed briefly within her crimson eyes, and the next moment, her figure vanished.
--
An elderly hunched figure walked on the ground, waving an uneven wooden cane and striking at the earth below with it from time to time.
Every time the cane struck the earth, the figure would pause for a brief moment, and his ears would perk up.
He would concentrate fully on the noise, as if peering into Heaven’s secrets.
The man’s face was focused and stern throughout his journey. Judging by his sneaky behavior and his bizarre route, it was apparent that he had a goal and was actually searching for something.
After he struck the ground and paused once more, the man’s eyes suddenly lit up.
"It’s here! I’ve finally found it!", he couldn’t help but mutter, and his hunched back abruptly straightened up.
His figure blurred, and his silhouette reappeared several kilometers away, standing in front of a giant hole.
Lowering his head, the man faced a giant gate covered in dust with excitement.
"The Gate to the Hollow! This should be the place where that infamous creature came out of!", the man whispered, and a greedy look flashed across his face.
He hadn’t expected that he would be the lucky one to find this place among the many competitors.
If everything went well, such an opportunity might allow his strength to undergo a massive transformation.
The man stared at the gate below and touched his chin, wondering what he should do next.
Although he had found this place, the Hollow had already shattered.
Even if he wanted to search for that creature’s inheritance or the treasures it left behind, he had no idea where to start.
Many emotions alternated on his face. After thinking for a few minutes, he raised the cane and was about to bring it down on the gate below.
But just then, a whispered voice echoed behind him.
"I didn’t expect that there would be someone wandering near here."
"Is the Hollow your target? Have news spread about this place?", a female voice reached his ears.
The man was stunned.
Although his combat power was not great, he was still a True Devil, close to advancing even further.
To be able to sneak up behind him without him noticing, only a Greater Devil possessed such an ability.
Moreover, judging from the other person’s words, she seemed to be very familiar with this place.
A shiver ran down his spine as countless thoughts raced through his mind.
Still, in reality, he acted without hesitation. He turned around and opened his mouth, mustering the courage to speak:
"My lord, I stumbled upon this place by accident. I was merely searching for clues related to the Catastrophe Devil."
"I didn’t expect that someone was staying here. Please forgive me for the disturbance I might have caused.", the hunched man spoke, and bowed his head, while secretly trying to take a glimpse of the newcomer.
Unfortunately, the woman did not give him a chance.
Ignoring his subservient look and his honest expression that said "I’ll tell you everything you ask", she casually waved her hand.
Before the man could react, his body exploded.
Only a soul remained at the place where he once stood, as even his bloody remains were wiped out.
The next moment, a hand clasped at his remaining soul before chewing noises echoed.
