Chapter 372: Market
Chapter 372: Market
Assira waved her hand, and the image of a starry sky appeared in front of her.
Countless tiny planets constantly revolved around their stars, with each galaxy being but a tiny dot among this vast blue sky.
Looking at this scene, Assira’s expression grew solemn.
A blue light flashed within her eyes, and the next moment, she reached out and flicked the starry sky with her index finger.
The sky quickly dissolved, as if it had burst apart.
But in its place, several blue lights remained.
The lights did not stay motionless. Under Assira’s control, they fired out and arrived in front of Liora, soon merging with her body.
Liora did not resist. She watched silently as the stars entered her soul space and settled beside her soul.
Although she didn’t try it at the moment, she could sense that she could touch the stars with her consciousness.
Once she did, the information she had just purchased would be unveiled to her.
A smile appeared on Liora’s face upon seeing this.
She felt that using a few hearts of Chaos Beasts in exchange for such valuable information was absolutely worth it.
However, when she noticed the wide smile on Assira’s face, she understood that the other party had not made a loss either.
Clearly, both Liora and Assira felt that their deal had been fruitful.
Just when Liora was preparing to get up and leave, Assira stopped her with her eyes and reached into her bosom.
She took a blue card out and slid it in her direction.
"The guest has reached the minimum threshold to become a VIP in the Astral Pavilion."
"Holding this card, Your Excellency can enjoy a ten percent discount on all future purchases."
"Moreover, information that would otherwise be unpurchasable can now be accessed by you."
Liora reached out and took the card.
Ignoring the warmth of the card caused by long-term contact with Assira’s cleavage, she merely nodded her head.
Though she had just arrived in the city, she understood that this card was extremely valuable.
Not only because of the discount, but also because of the increase in one’s status.
With this VIP card in her hands, Liora could now access intelligence regarding more powerful beings and more hidden mysteries.
Despite knowing this, she was in no rush.
At the moment, her main goal was to settle in the city and achieve the goals she had set before coming here.
As for purchasing more intelligence? That could always wait for later.
--
Before long, Liora left the Astral Pavilion behind her.
She showed no signs of leaving the city.
Instead, following the instructions given by the short Devil beforehand, she wandered through the streets and slowly approached the closest market.
While on the way, her consciousness moved and touched the blue stars revolving around her soul.
Instantly, information flowed out of them and poured into her mind.
Although Liora had never encountered this before, she had experienced several situations similar to this in the past.
Thus, despite having to consciously digest the information, her footsteps never stopped.
--
Hollow City was truly massive.
Since Liora did not fly but simply walked along the streets, it took her several hours to reach her destination.
As she approached the market, the mostly empty city gradually became filled with Devils.
Countless powerful auras were gathered, as if a world-destroying army had assembled and was ready to march.
Yet, when Liora arrived at the "crime scene", she discovered that this was merely an illusion.
The Devils that had gathered here were not prepared to invade any world or any other Demon Layer, but had instead come here to trade.
Walking with her hands clasped behind her back, Liora passed by several shops.
Some of them were giant buildings emanating an oppressive aura that stunned even her, while others were simple wooden huts, the ones that one would find in most ordinary mortal towns.
Liora did not rush to approach any of them. But as her consciousness swept around, many voices echoed in her ears.
"This is the coordinate of a medium-level world! The extraordinary people there call themselves Gods. By absorbing the faith of mortals, they can almost infinitely improve their strength!"
"Your Excellency, I’m looking for companions to invade a higher-level world together. I’ve already reached an agreement with six other Greater Devils. If you’re interested..."
"I won’t trade this weapon! Unless you possess several fire-related Devil Techniques, there’s no reason to bargain!"
Liora quickly filtered through the noise.
With raised eyebrows, she approached one of many shops and looked around.
The owner was the person who had previously mentioned the world of the Gods.
At the moment, he was talking with a Balrog-looking Devil and boasting about his products’ immense value.
Liora did not interrupt their conversation.
She wandered casually throughout the shop, and her consciousness swept out, investigating the "precious" products.
Nothing piqued her interest at first, but before long, her attention fell on a bunch of moving runes.
Though they were different from the Devil Runes she was familiar with, Liora could roughly judge their function. Moreover, her keen perception allowed her to sense an invisible power surrounding them.
Coupled with the shop owner’s earlier words, she recognized their identity.
The owner proved unable to complete the deal with the Balrog Devil.
He was originally quite dissatisfied, cursing at the customer and claiming that they did not know how to appreciate treasures. However, when he noticed Liora staring at the runes, his eyes lit up.
"This guest is far more knowledgeable than those idiots!", he approached Liora and said.
"These runes are the condensation of the God power system that I just talked about. Natives refer to them as ’Godheads’.", he explained and grabbed one of the many runes.
Its blue color fell on his terrifying face as he continued.
"These Gods are all related to a certain concept. Take this Godhead as an example. I collected it after slaying the God of Water."
"Similarly, I’ve gathered the Godheads of the God of Fire, the God of Blacksmiths, etc."
Liora did not need any further explanation. Her past life and bloodline memories allowed her to easily grasp the shop owner’s meaning.
Staring at the many Godheads lying in front of her, she pondered for a few seconds before finally speaking up.
"I want the Godheads of the God of Fire, Water, Earth, and Wind."
Her request caused a smile to flash across the shopkeeper’s face.
"Your Excellency has a keen eye! These four Godheads are the most valuable items in the entire shop."
"In fact, there are rumors that the four elements are the cornerstones of the world of the Gods."
"These four Godheads might hold a great secret! It’s just waiting for the destined one to uncover it!"
The shopkeeper looked excited. It seemed as if the Godheads could turn a mortal into a Devil Emperor the very next moment.
Unfortunately, before he could continue his boasting, Liora rudely interrupted him.
"Okay, stop talking nonsense."
"These Godheads are useless for beings of our level. Their main function should be to allow mortals to quickly get stronger. However, such a God is at most equivalent to a Greater Devil."
"Even if one were to ignore that, the influence of faith has major drawbacks. Which Greater Devil is stupid enough to merge with such a thing?"
"Don’t try to trick me.", she waved her hand dismissively.
"If it wasn’t useful to my current research, I wouldn’t have spared a glance at such useless things."
