Chapter 444: Enemy’s Decision & Departure

The Leader of the Universe Chamber of Commerce lightly tapped on the desk as he listened attentively to the Feathered Devil recounting the events.

Unfortunately, the results of this investigation went beyond their expectations.

Neither of the two Archdevils had noticed it before, but as the Feathered Devil described everything that took place, the two made a shocking discovery.

Strangely, part of the Feathered Devil’s memories was gone.

It was not clear at first, but as the two dug deeper to find the reason for the Thousand-Eyed Devil’s death, they discovered that some key information was missing.

For example, the opponent’s exact abilities or how the other party suppressed the Thousand-Eyed Devil.

For another example, the way the opponent managed to kill the Feathered Devil.

The person affected, the Feathered Devil, was perhaps even more astonished than the organization’s Leader.

She had not discovered anything before today and had gone on with her life as usual.

A flurry of questions flew out of the Feathered Devil’s mouth, and her voice trembled with panic.

The Leader did not scold her for her loss of composure.

The aforementioned questions were things that puzzled him, too.

But before long, he came to a plausible conclusion.

"That woman should not have done this by virtue of her own power."

"If I’m not wrong, she should have relied on the power of someone else. Most likely, someone who has reached the Ascension Stage."

"This can explain why she didn’t kill the Thousand-Eyed Devil immediately. As for why you’re still alive...", the young man pinched his chin, and his fingers tightened against the desk.

"A being who has reached the peak of the Archdevil stage will not take action casually. Even if they and that woman are close, they will only take action when it’s necessary and harmless."

"After all, killing a person following the connection between their bodies is far easier than killing them out of thin air."

His explanation was sound, and the reasons he listed could back it up.

Yet, there were also several unanswered questions, as well as newly emerged ones.

However, neither he nor the Feathered Devil paid much attention to them.

Compared to the other possible explanation, that Liora herself was at the Ascension Stage, they chose to believe this one.

After all, if Liora was really that powerful, there would be no point in making any plans.

The enemy could arrive the very next moment and butcher them all with ease.

Against someone at the Ascension Stage, even two Archdevils with the assistance of a formation would be powerless to resist, even if one of them was at the Throne stage.

With that thought, the two tacitly agreed to believe this explanation instead.

Having said that, the Feathered Devil still hesitated.

"Leader, do you wish to give up on the inheritance?"

Even if Liora was not the culprit, going against a person with the backing of a powerful being was obviously unwise. Though she didn’t state it explicitly, her implication was obvious.

The young man didn’t rush to reply but fell into thought.

"Indeed. We will no longer confront that woman."

"Go on."

The Feathered Devil nodded, slightly relieved.

She didn’t stay to communicate any further.

Though the decision had already been made, it would require their full effort to clean up the aftermath and deal with an Archdevil’s death.

Soon, only the young man was left in the room.

Compared to just a few seconds ago, his calm exterior had vanished, and his face contorted with rage.

"Damn it! Damn it!"

"I was finally so close to getting my hands on that inheritance! I was so close to reaching the Anchoring Stage."

"If I had succeeded, why would I have to fear offending an Ascension Stage Devil?"

The young man’s aura erupted as he smashed the table and blasted it into smithereens.

Then, his aura continued spreading through the room and the building as a whole. Anguished screams echoed.

Several employees were wiped out.

Fortunately, the young man recovered on time and suppressed his outburst.

The fury remained etched on his face.

However, his eyes now exuded supreme indifference. He had made a decision.

He reached into his pocket and took a small token out. He stared at it for a few seconds before letting out a sigh.

"It seems that I will have to rely on their help."

"As for the price... What is it in front of the chance to advance further?", he muttered in a low voice and poured his demonic energy into the inanimate object.

Shortly after, the token lit up. A bizarre, chaotic power arrived, which seemed like a combination of several distinct and unique auras.

Liora did not know that the Thousand-Eyed Devil had perished, nor that this had scared two Archdevils out of their wits.

The Feathered Devil’s missing memories were indeed her doing, having manipulated Snake of Time to conceal the timeline and erase her traces.

As for the Thousand-Eyed Devil’s death, she didn’t even know that Absolute Extraction could follow the connection between the two bodies and wipe him out completely.

In her opinion, the Thousand-Eyed Devil’s other body was still alive, even if injured.

It had been only a few days since she had returned to the Demon World.

Yet, in such a short amount of time, Liora’s power had undergone a great transformation.

As she exited her room and walked out of the mansion, she couldn’t help but nod her head in satisfaction.

"Creating Devil Empress’s Furnace was the right decision."

"Absolute Extraction is even more effective than I expected."

Liora had found that her integration with the extracted "items" was seamless.

It only took a couple of hours for the concept of "Gaze" to combine with her Throne, while the Devil Techniques he had mastered were also grafted onto her.

"Moreover, there are also some unexpected benefits."
