Chapter 511: Ohara & Tribe
Chapter 511: Ohara & Tribe
Liora found herself standing in the middle of a dense jungle.
Towering trees rose all around her, their roots buried beneath dense vegetation, while traces of animal activities were evident on the ground.
She immediately identified the marks.
Based on her past experience of hunting them before, the traces in the surroundings belonged to demons, being the result of infighting.
The lingering scent of blood and deadly aura only served to confirm her suspicion.
Even so, Liora didn’t pay attention to them for long.
Not because she dismissed them, but because a sound suddenly echoed through the forest.
It was a chorus of ferocious growls.
Combined with the fearful screams and the sound of rapid footsteps, she quickly guessed what was happening.
Her World of Heart unfolded.
Then, using her near-omnipotence within this field, she vanished from her location and reappeared at the source of the disturbance.
--
Fear filled Ohara’s eyes as she glanced back at the demons pursuing her, and whimpers couldn’t help but escape her mouth.
Looking at their bloodshot eyes that seemed to thirst for her blood, she pushed her lower body to the limit, accelerating even further.
Subconsciously, her eyes couldn’t help but wander toward the wooden basket in her right hand.
It was filled with beautiful flowers, flawless fruits, and a single piece of black glass.
The latter was the true reason behind her visit to the Twilight Forest.
Since her father had fallen ill a few days ago, she had been living in desperation, worried she might soon not see him again.
When she heard from the hunt team that a piece of Twilight Grass had been discovered in the forest and could alleviate the curse, she immediately rushed to its location to collect it.
Everything had gone smoothly at first until her visit inevitably attracted the attention of a group of demons.
This was how she had ended up in the current situation.
Listening to the demons’ footsteps getting closer and feeling their hot breath brush against her back, Ohara fell into despair.
She didn’t regret coming to Twilight Forest. What she regretted was that she was not powerful enough to protect herself.
If she had awakened a talent during this year’s Blood Sacrifice, she wouldn’t have been forced to flee like this.
Her father might not have suffered punishment.
Unfortunately, time could not turn back.
Hearing the sound of claws piercing through the air, Ohara closed her eyes and waited for her own death.
Yet, as moments passed and the expected pain never arrived, Ohara sensed something amiss.
While shocked, her eyelids fluttered open, fully expecting to meet the horrifying faces of the demons and their dripping saliva.
But she didn’t.
By the time she opened her eyes, the demons chasing her all this time had vanished.
In their place stood a young woman wearing a set of bizarre clothes she had never seen before, staring at her with clear curiosity.
Ohara was stunned.
She couldn’t understand how this girl, who was not much older than her, had appeared in the Twilight Forest.
Still, she knew the disappearance of the demons was not a coincidence.
The person in front of her must be an Awakener! And a powerful Awakener at that!
Countless thoughts raced through her mind.
In the end, Ohara respectfully bowed her head, forcing herself to remain calm as she spoke up:
"Tha—Thank you, Your Excellency, for your help. If you need anything, please speak up. I’ll never forget today’s grace."
--
Hearing the solemn vow of the girl before her, Liora remained silent.
She continued observing the other party, paying particular attention to her clothes.
It was neither a t-shirt nor any other type of modern clothing one would expect to find in this Cosmic World.
Rather, she wore patched-together pieces of skin and animal fur, akin to what a person imagined when they heard about primitive people.
Looking at her basket, which was filled to the brim with medicinal materials, Liora’s gaze grew odd.
Ohara seemed to have sensed her gaze.
She raised the basket and stammered to speak, as though guessing her intentions.
"You—Your Excellency, if you need anything, I can leave them to you. I just need this piece of Twilight Grass.", she said, preparing to push the basket toward her.
But before she could do so, Liora shook her head and shoved it back.
"It’s alright. I don’t need them."
After saying this, she didn’t let the girl’s thoughts wander around any longer, but went straight to the topic.
"Why are you here? Where are your guardians?"
"Aren’t you afraid of dying when you come here with your little strength?"
Ohara appeared embarrassed. Even so, she narrated her story.
After finishing amidst welling tears, she glanced at Liora, who looked thoughtful, and took the initiative to speak up.
"Your Excellency, if you have nowhere else to go, you can come stay at our tribe.", she said, lifting her chin with faint pride.
"The Orion Tribe is the largest human settlement near the Twilight Forest. Our Tribe Chief is a Rank 2 Awakener!"
"I’m not boasting when I say this, but the Orion Tribe is the strongest force within a hundred-mile radius."
Her words caused Liora to raise her eyebrows.
After taking a deeper look at the girl, she nodded her head and took her up on her offer.
--
Ohara had to admit that accompanying a powerful Awakener was completely different from traveling alone.
Before, it had taken her nearly half a day to go deep into Twilight Forest as she had to constantly be on her tiptoes, afraid of alarming any powerful demons.
Yet while accompanying Liora, she faced no such issue.
The two strolled through the forest as if it were their back garden.
They didn’t even detour around demons. Every creature that dared to block their way was easily killed.
Recalling the several bloody corpses they left behind, which could have fetched a high price if carried back to the tribe, Ohara opened her mouth as if she wished to say something.
But in the end, she kept her mouth shut.
It only took them half an hour to leave the Twilight Forest.
From then on, their journey was even more uneventful.
Shortly afterward, the familiar sound of human civilization reached their ears.
As Liora raised her head, she was faced with a medium-sized primitive village, resembling those one would see in the movies or hear about in history books.
There were only two differences.
One was the bloody corpses of colossal demons hanging from the village’s walls, and the other was a stone statue standing beside the entrance.
With the lower body of a horse and the upper body of a human, it depicted a centaur, whose spear was aimed toward the Twilight Forest.
Just as Liora’s eyes were locked on it, a happy voice came from behind.
"Your Excellency, welcome to the Orion Tribe.", Ohara announced with a cheerful smile.
