Evolution: From Little Devil to Devil Empress

Chapter 591: Entry

Chapter 591: Entry

Under the purple brilliance of the two tokens taken out by the Emperors, the giant palace’s gate slowly began to open.

Watching this scene unfold, Liora remained perfectly calm. She waited for the gate to open completely.

Yet just as only a tiny gap of it remained, she sensed something strange.

The purple token she had obtained from the Heavenly Armor Pavilion had begun to react.

Deep within the Cosmic Sea, it rumbled violently, trembling as though resonating with the gate and the two purple tokens in the outside world.

It looked eager to break free from her clutches, as if it wished to appear in reality and merge with them.

Fortunately, Liora reacted quickly.

More importantly, ever since creating the Cosmic Sea, she had stored nearly all of her possessions within it.

The instant the token began to stir, countless grains of cosmic dust surged toward it on their own, wrapping around it to suppress it.

The token’s resistance was surprisingly strong.

Judging by its fluctuations, its power lay somewhere between Rank 10 and Rank 11. Had a Rank 10 Emperor tried to suppress it, they would have found it extremely difficult.

Fortunately, Liora’s own strength had long since undergone a qualitative transformation.

Even in the outside world, suppressing it would not have been difficult.

Within the Cosmic Sea—where her strength and authority were amplified several times—the token stood even less of a chance.

Gradually, the token was imprisoned beneath layers of cosmic dust until it finally stopped struggling.

Outside, nothing unusual could be seen from her.

Not even Elaouthr, who stood beside her and should have been familiar with her, noticed anything.

Both the demons and the Zerg silently watched as the massive gate continued to open, only moving once it had fully parted.

No one spoke. Not even members of the same faction exchanged a single word.

The next instant, both sides transformed into streaks of light and rushed through the entrance, as though fearing others would be faster than them.

Liora followed closely behind. After casting a brief glance toward Elaouthr, she stepped through the gate as well.

When Liora opened her eyes again, the plaza outside the palace had disappeared.

In its place was a vast chamber.

Various strange appliances and miscellaneous items filled the room, making it resemble the interior of the Heavenly Armor Pavilion’s residences.

Just as Liora swept her gaze across the surroundings in an attempt to find any valuable clues, a familiar voice sounded from right beside her.

“Brother Liothar, we are quite lucky this time.”, Elaouthr said with a smile.

“I recognize this place. It happened to be mentioned in one of the jade slips I found in the courtyard earlier.”

Only the two of them occupied the chamber.

Ordinarily, two giant demons should have made the room feel cramped.

However, this was not the case.

Just like the palace itself, the surrounding space had been folded by a high-level power, allowing the chamber to contain far more than its true dimensions should permit.

Liora instantly captured this. However, she paid it little attention.

Her focus stayed on Elaouthr’s words.

She raised her eyebrows for a split second.

However, she appeared not to find his discovery any surprising and quickly relaxed.

“What did you discover this time?”, she questioned.

Elaouthr’s face visibly brightened, looking almost like a younger brother eager to receive praise.

“Brother Liothar, it’s this.”, he said, reaching into his spatial treasure and retrieving a small jade slip.

“Originally, I wasn’t sure whether this had anything to do with this palace. But after we entered and were teleported here, I finally confirmed my suspicions.”

As he spoke, he handed the jade slip over without the slightest hesitation.

Had it been anyone else, they would likely have guarded such information carefully. No one would part with it easily.

Elaouthr, however, appeared completely immersed in his role as Liora’s loyal subordinate.

Liora accepted the jade slip, a trace of surprise flashing through her eyes.

Then, her consciousness dove into the slip.

Streams of information instantly poured into her mind.

Only a few seconds later, she had completely absorbed its contents and digested them.

She immediately understood why Elaouthr had connected the information to this palace.

City Lord’s Palace—that was the subject recorded within the jade slip.

According to the information, every district within the ancient city possessed its own City Lord’s Palace, which served as the administrative center of that district.

Each City Lord was an absolute powerhouse, equivalent to a Rank 10 Awakener.

In a sense, these palaces housed the city’s most powerful cultivators.

The jade slip also briefly explained the purpose behind their establishment.

The ancient city had simply been too vast. At its peak, it stretched across several galaxies and was larger than any single landmass of today.

No single individual could possibly govern such a vast territory alone.

Thus, after lengthy discussions between cultivators, its authority had been divided among numerous City Lords.

Each City Lord governed an individual district while answering directly to the city’s central administration.

In simple terms, they were akin to the nobles of a vast Empire.

Within their own territories, their authority was absolute. Beyond that, however, they ultimately answered to a higher ruler.

Liora nodded thoughtfully as she went through this information.

Although the cultivation civilization had long since vanished, understanding its structure still held certain value.

The phantom she had previously captured had interestingly never mentioned these things.

Whether he had simply forgotten or had been unable—or unwilling—to say remained uncertain.

These thoughts flashed through Liora’s mind in an instant.

When she snapped back to reality, Elaouthr’s terrifying face had filled most of her field of vision. His bloody red eyes shone brightly, like two moons dripping with fresh blood.

Before Liora could speak—and more importantly, curse at him—he hurriedly continued.

“Brother Liothar, you should have seen the information.”

“If we’re going to search for an inheritance or treasures within this place, we’ll have to be extremely careful. Such a place is bound not to be simple.”, he said with a sigh before continuing.
