Chapter 636: Wealth
Chapter 636: Wealth
Although the number of Mechanical Race Emperors was large, they were ultimately just one of the parties gathered in the pavilion.
Faced with the allied forces of three Apex Civilizations, who no longer fought among each other but targeted them, their defenses easily crumbled.
A portion of their members perished on the spot.
The surviving ones immediately rushed into the pavilion, using the building as a method of defense before disappearing into it.
From start to finish, the entire sequence of events lasted for less than a minute.
Yet during that otherwise short period of time, several Emperors had died.
Not only of the Mechanical Race, but also of the other Apex Civilizations.
Although their respective leaders looked somewhat saddened to see this, they had long become used to the death of their companions.
After a brief moment of silence, during which they collected their companions’ remains, the three glanced at each other and communicated mentally.
They tried to keep their conversation secret.
However, what they didn’t know was that someone was overhearing their talk.
With Liora’s powerful mental power, doing so was easy.
“I’m afraid that the Mechanical Race must know more about the pavilion and the final inheritance than the rest of us.”
“We should be careful. Although we agreed to compete based on our respective abilities, we can’t let the Mechanical Race become the final victors.”
“I’d rather no one obtain it than let the Mechanical Race claim it.”, Adrian stated.
Surprisingly, both the Zerg Queen and the demon Emperor nodded and echoed his words.
Seeing this, Adrian smiled. He added:
“I know that you must have already summoned the powerhouses of your civilizations. But if possible, we should ensure that a large-scale battle does not break out.”
“If it does, only the Mechanical Race will benefit. For now, maintaining the current peace is in everyone’s best interest.”
Hearing these words, the two leading Emperors nodded once more.
It was just that, unlike the previous time, when they were decisive and full of confidence, this time, they appeared far more hesitant.
Adrian sighed upon seeing this reaction. He understood their true thoughts.
However, he knew very well he could not force them to do anything. Their current alliance was one of necessity. He had no control over them.
In fact, Adrian didn’t even know whether he would be able to convince the human race’s powerhouse either.
With disappointment, he shook his head and changed the topic of conversation.
After exchanging a few more words, he looked at the human Emperors behind him and waved his hand, gesturing for everyone to enter the building.
The other races did the same.
Mingling among the human group, Liora recalled the previous conversation.
She looked thoughtful.
Would the true powerhouses of the Apex Civilizations arrive soon?
If that was the case, things were bound to become even more complicated…
—
Liora had already noticed the similarity between the pavilion and the Heavenly Armor Pavilion she had previously been in.
Once she stepped inside, her suspicions were confirmed.
Landing on the first floor, she was faced with thousands of towering glass displays, exactly the same as the ones she had encountered in the Heavenly Armor Pavilion.
There was also another similarity.
Back then, she and Elaouthr had been divided upon entering the building.
Now, things were the same.
Although Liora had entered the building together with the other human Emperors, they were nowhere to be found, as though they had been teleported away.
Liora suspected it was the result of the building’s formation operating.
In the past, it had been done under the control of the remnant soul.
This time…
“It should be of the Mechanical Race. Do they want to divide us and pick us off one by one?”, Liora concluded, as her gaze swept through her surroundings.
The first floor was a vast dark void.
Seemingly having been expanded through spatial means, the room stretched for a distance equivalent to several galaxies.
It was no wonder that Liora had failed to find anyone.
Moreover, sensing the faint suppression acting on her body, attempting to seal part of her strength, her suspicion that someone was actively controlling the pavilion only grew stronger.
She shook her head. She didn’t care.
Part of her focus fell on the Cosmic Sea, communicating with Alpha, Alice, and the remnant soul. The rest controlled her body to approach the closest display.
A weapon lay behind the glass, in the shape of a blue trident.
As her gaze fell on it, Liora’s eyes flickered.
Even through the display, she could sense a powerful aura.
It radiated the force of a Rank 10 treasure, similar in level to the Battle Fury Hammer she possessed.
Given her current strength, this was nothing and could not provide her any help.
However, what the trident’s existence represented caught her interest.
This display wasn’t special.
There was nothing unique about it, whether in appearance or position. It was simply one among countless display cases.
Did that mean that the rest of the displays also contained items of a similar level?
Once that thought took root inside her mind, Liora couldn’t dismiss it.
Her figure blurred before appearing several feet away, stopping in front of another towering display.
Within it was not a weapon, but a piece of ore.
It lacked the destructive momentum weapons would possess.
Yet even so, Liora sensed its preciousness. This item was not any less valuable than the trident she had seen before.
Thinking of this, she moved onto the next item. And then on the next.
Weapons. Ores. Cultivation instruments.
Liora saw pretty much everything.
But no matter what type of items lay inside the displays, they shared a common characteristic:
They were all extremely precious.
Liora’s eyes narrowed.
Didn’t this mean that there were thousands of such treasures stored inside the pavilion?
No. She suddenly shook her head.
Considering the size of the room, there were bound to be hundreds of thousands of display cases.
Moreover, this was just one of the floors of the pavilion.
If the Heavenly Armor Pavilion’s structure was to be followed, the items on the floors above this would become even more valuable.
“Is this the accumulated wealth of an entire civilization?”, Liora couldn’t help but sigh, feeling that she might have underestimated the ancient cultivators.
