The years had taken a toll on Janna’s countenance.
The youthful immaturity on her face had long since faded away, replaced by cold indifference.
Only a few years had passed since she enrolled in the Human School. Yet in such a short amount of time, she had managed to walk a path that would take other people centuries.
From originally being an ordinary Rank 3 Awakener, she had made continuous advancements.
In the end, she had managed to reach Rank 7, becoming a glorious World Lord.
Even with her own talent, that was an astonishing achievement. She knew that if she had stayed in the War Academy, it would have been impossible for her to make such rapid progress.
In fact, it would be a miracle if she had reached Rank 6, let alone pass the hurdle and go beyond it.
Yet Janna could not be happy with her achievements.
Her gaze moved toward the people around her.
In the enormous plaza stretching for hundreds of kilometers, hundreds of thousands of people could be seen standing.
They were all of a similar age to her. Under normal circumstances, Janna would not have paid attention to her peers.
Yet this time, she had to.
Everyone here was as powerful as her!
No! Janna could sense many auras that were stronger than hers!
Among these people, she was one of the weakest!
Venerables! Emperors! Perhaps even beings beyond that could be seen!
In most cases, such a gathering of apex beings would have been shocking.
Some would think that the Human Federation was preparing to further ignite the war between the Apex Civilizations.
Yet Janna knew that was not the truth.
The people gathered here had not come under the command of the Human Federation, but under the instructions of the Human School! Everyone here was a student of this mysterious force!
The plaza was shrouded in silence. In such a place, no one dared to act recklessly.
Time slowly passed.
The seconds turned into minutes and those into hours.
Just when everyone was beginning to get impatient, wondering why they had been ordered to come here, the space above the plaza was suddenly torn apart.
Space fragments scattered in all directions.
The space layers beneath the outermost layer were revealed within.
Surprisingly, what the students saw was not the bottomless darkness one would expect.
Instead, it was a bright starry sky.
Billions of stars revolved endlessly, with countless celestial bodies working together to make up a magnificent scene.
At the center of this starry sky sat an enormous figure.
Although it was sitting within the sky, it seemed to be even larger than the starry sky itself.
This should have been impossible, but it was what everyone felt.
The stronger one was, the more certain they became of that conclusion.
As though sensing their gazes, the sitting figure suddenly opened its eyes.
It lowered its head, its gaze piercing time and space to land on the plaza.
Then… everything disappeared.
Before anyone could react, both the figure and the starry sky vanished. Even the space crack had unknowingly mended itself, making one wonder whether everything had been an illusion.
However, none of the people in the plaza believed that was so.
After all, a figure had appeared in the sky above them.
They knew very well that it was the person who had been sitting in the starry sky!
Seeing them descend into the real world, the students below couldn’t help but be curious, wondering what kind of being could possibly explain such grand phenomena.
Especially when they noticed that they still could not see through their appearance, their curiosity was piqued even further.
The more daring among them activated their insight abilities, trying to catch a glimpse of them.
Janna was also among them. Though not the strongest, her means were extraordinary within the same Rank.
A golden rune flashed in her dark eyes as she tried to peer into the figure’s identity.
It worked!
The veil covering them was slowly taken apart. Their identity slowly became clear to her.
Long crimson hair flowed behind their back.
A pair of indifferent, scarlet eyes was looking down at them.
Facial features beautiful enough to make both men and women envious complemented both.
A long azure robe fused all these aspects together, giving the figure an even more imposing presence.
Indifferent. Majestic. Beautiful.
Powerful. Transcendent. Omnipotent.
Countless words could be used to describe them. However, none of these was what Janna first thought of.
Instead, the word “indescribable” came into her mind.
Even she was surprised by that idea, not understanding how she had arrived at it.
A moment later, however, she came to know.
“AAAH!”
Countless terrified screams suddenly echoed throughout the plaza in unison.
At once, the eyes of thousands of students exploded. Blood flowed out of their eye sockets as their entire bodies began to melt apart, as though they had entered a fire.
The students watching this scene were horrified. They could not understand what was happening.
Only the most intelligent among them had some clues.
They figured out that these were the students who had used their respective means to try to peer into the figure’s appearance.
Obviously, their current state was the result of that.
Everyone instinctively knew: this was not what the figure had deliberately done.
Rather, these students simply lacked the authority and power to ignore the backlash one would suffer upon looking at them.
Watching their companions—World Lords, Venerables, or even Emperors—melt apart, even the calmest student was horrified.
Fortunately, just as it seemed that thousands of students would perish before the grand event had even commenced, the figure finally waved their hand.
Lights descended from the sky and fell upon the melting students, quickly restoring their bodies. The curse troubling them was also removed.
Janna took a deep breath, her pupils flashing with fear.
She looked down at herself, repeatedly confirming that her body was fine. However, this didn’t serve to lessen her horror.
The pain of melting was still clear in her mind.
Moreover, whenever she tried to recall the figure in her memories, her intuition would scream of danger.
She had a hunch that even simply recalling their figure would cause her to start melting again.
This was no longer an influence contained in the real world. Even her memories had been contaminated!
It was as though a curse had been implanted into her very being!
Thousands of students had the same exact thought, causing a wave of panic to spread.
However, the figure in the sky did not seem ready to give them any time to recover.
After helping them reconstruct their bodies, it waved its hand once again.
Space cracked open once more.
This time, the opening was even larger, enough to engulf the entire plaza.
…And it did.
Before the students could react, they found themselves inside a spatial passage, traveling through space toward an unknown destination.
Soon, only the indescribable figure remained in the entire plaza.
The veil covering them slowly faded away. Their true identity was revealed.
Liora slowly raised her head toward the sky.
With her current strength, her gaze was able to penetrate the very fabric of the Cosmic Universe and see through its essence.
At its deepest end, where its core was located, she could see two powers entangled with one another. They constantly collided, clearly engaged in a battle.
One represented Order, and the other represented Chaos.
Though equal conceptually, the former was gradually losing.
Chaos was corroding it. It was only a matter of time before Order was wiped out and Chaos gained control over the Cosmic Universe.
Seeing this sight, Liora understood why Anna had been urging her to commence the plan over the years.
Although she was prepared, a trace of emotional fluctuation flashed across her eyes. She knew that the destined battle had finally come.
From this day onward, everything would be different.
The fate of the Cosmic Universe would be altered. Likewise, the Origin Sea outside of it would also be affected.
“Let’s decide the winner today. We’ve both been preparing for this moment for a long time. There is no longer a reason to waste any more time…” she whispered under her breath.
She appeared to be talking to herself.
Yet in the core of the Cosmic Universe, the force of Chaos suddenly trembled. An invisible gaze descended into reality.
It appeared to be staring at her.
