Chapter 720: Information World Shatters & Anna's Misfortune
Chapter 720: Information World Shatters & Anna’s Misfortune
As though it had broken the shackles constraining it, the Gluttony Avatar began getting bigger.
One hundred meters. Five hundred meters. One kilometer.
In the blink of an eye, an enormous crimson phantom composed of mist appeared in the Information World, exuding the aura of an Ancient Devil.
A Domain rapidly spread with it as its center, occupying several light-years and swallowing everything within it.
Whoever entered the Domain’s range would be affected by thoughts of Gluttony, suffering a mental impact and gradually losing themselves.
With its advancement, the Gluttony Avatar had obviously obtained another characteristic.
But for the time being, Liora paid no heed to it.
Rather than examining the Sin Avatar’s new abilities, she preferred to focus on the improvement in its devouring force.
Powerful! Too powerful!
Even Liora was surprised by its transformation.
The moment the Gluttony Avatar took a single breath, a large chunk of the Information World broke down and rapidly flowed toward its body.
The streams of information were instantly digested. Then, more of them rushed toward it from every direction.
In the past, it had taken the Gluttony Avatar several minutes to devour five percent of the Information World.
Now, it had devoured another five percent in just a couple of breaths.
… And it showed no signs of stopping.
Moments later, a large cracking sound echoed throughout the Information World.
The Awakeners had long realized that something was wrong. News of the Information World’s destruction had already spread throughout the Human Federation, causing panic among the higher-ups.
They didn’t understand what was happening at first.
But as the cracking sound echoed, the remaining Awakeners instinctively raised their heads to look at the sky.
They found a large gap emerging above them. It rapidly expanded.
As though the apocalypse had come, everything was plunged into nothingness.
No human had any time to react.
Moments later, their consciousnesses were also wiped out, along with the cities and planets they lived on.
“Is the world about to be destroyed?” A despairing voice came from the mouth of a rare Rank 11 Awakener before it was also wiped away.
—
The destruction of the Information World was bound to be detrimental to the Human Race, perhaps even causing it to lose its status as an Apex Civilization.
With the disappearance of the Human Ruler as well, the Human Race was under the threat of extinction.
However, if one had to say who was the most affected by the Information World’s destruction, it would not be the humans.
Rather, it was Anna!
Engaged in combat with Alpha, she had originally held an advantage despite being unable to suppress her opponent.
Yet with every passing second, that advantage was slowly disappearing.
Before long, she was the one being suppressed!
It was not because Alpha had grown stronger or more experienced.
Rather, it was because Anna was becoming weaker.
The Information World was her real body! It was the reason she was so powerful!
With its destruction, her aura rapidly declined.
Sensing this, Anna could not believe it.
“How? How is this possible?”
“How could you possibly devour the Information World so quickly? Even if Master wanted to refine it, it would have taken thousands of years!”
“How can you do it in a matter of minutes?”
For the first time since they had met, Anna’s eyes had turned crimson. She had completely lost her composure.
Her outburst made sense.
She knew that the plan she and her Master had been planning for billions of years was bound to fail!
With the Information World destroyed, Anna did not believe that the “Human Emperor” would remain unscathed. The person responsible clearly had great plans!
Recalling that the culprit behind all of this was Liora, Anna couldn’t help but grit her teeth, her expression manic.
“Damn it!”
“I shouldn’t have saved you from your enemy back then! I shouldn’t have let you inherit the status of the Human Emperor!” she cursed as Alpha’s hand pierced through her abdomen.
Although streams of information wove together to mend the wound, Anna’s aura declined once again.
By now, she could no longer remain at Rank 13.
Her aura fluctuated violently, dropping to Rank 12.
Seconds later, to Rank 11. Then Rank 10.
Before long, the outcome had been decided!
Watching the last pieces of the Information World be replaced by utter nothingness, Anna couldn’t help but burst into laughter.
“Haha! It is destiny! I can only blame myself for being too hasty and choosing the wrong ‘inheritor’!”
As Anna’s despairing words echoed throughout the expanse of nothingness, Alpha’s attacks suddenly ceased.
She took several steps back, restraining her momentum.
It was not because she was touched by Anna’s speech and was prepared to spare her life.
Rather…
“My Lord!” Alpha turned to the side and bowed respectfully.
Unknowingly, a figure had emerged there.
It was none other than Liora.
Compared to a few minutes ago, she looked completely different.
Strong!
This was the only word that Alpha could use to describe her.
Although her aura remained stuck at Rank 12 and she showed no signs of having advanced, Alpha had a hunch that even in her current Mechanical Emperor state, she would be unable to defeat Liora.
Perhaps she would be defeated in a couple of strikes.
“You did a good job.” Liora nodded toward Alpha before shifting her attention to Anna.
She hadn’t concealed her presence.
Yet despite this, Anna didn’t seem to have noticed her. She stared blankly at the world around her, muttering to herself in a low voice.
The Will of the Information World was having a mental breakdown!
Liora didn’t blame her. For all intents and purposes, Anna was already dead.
What kept her alive was her lingering obsession, as well as the few remaining fragments of the Information World.
Taking a look at her opponent, Liora couldn’t help but feel emotional.
If one had to say who had helped her the most during her time in the Cosmic Universe, it would be none other than this woman.
Whether it was saving her from the Hollow Ancestor, guiding her path, or arranging various opportunities, Anna had helped her greatly.
“Unfortunately, you decided to become my enemy…” Liora whispered.
The moment that thought fell, the Gluttony Avatar emerged, transforming into a Devil mask that merged with Liora’s face.
As she opened her mouth, the mask did as well.
An overwhelming devouring force descended.
Anna could not and did not wish to resist.
Her body rapidly broke down into pure streams of information and was then devoured, becoming a central part of the newly condensed Law Stars in the Cosmic Sea.
By now, there was a nearly infinite number of these stars.
The Laws Liora had comprehended by devouring the Information World were innumerable.
The world within her had taken the next step, making her strength no weaker than the Human Emperor Clone.
At the same time, Liora sensed that some more fundamental changes had taken place within the Cosmic Sea.
Unfortunately, she didn’t have the time to examine them closely.
One part of the battlefield had indeed been decided.
The other, and perhaps more important part, however, was still up to the air.
Sensing that the Human Emperor Clone was rapidly being replaced and that even the current Liora could not stop this, she remained calm.
She raised her head and looked toward the core of the Cosmic Universe.
Glancing at the four beings engaged in an invisible battle, she lightly shook her head.
“From now on, everything depends on their choice…” she whispered cryptically.
