Chapter 730: System's Transformation
Chapter 730: System’s Transformation
The Evolution System had accompanied Liora since her birth on the banks of the River of Oblivion until now, playing a significant role in helping her reach her current level of strength.
Without the Evolution System, it was highly likely that she wouldn’t have even been able to survive the first trial of the Demon World.
She might have died in the River of Oblivion long ago, without ever having the chance to reach the Crucible.
From then on, the System had continued to help her greatly, whether it was when she was choosing her own bloodline or when creating new abilities.
However, it had been quite a while since Liora had last made use of it.
Part of this was because of her natural distrust toward something she could not understand.
The System’s nature was unknown, after all.
Forced by her weakness, Liora had been willing to use something like that when she didn’t have the strength to protect herself. If she didn’t, she would have died.
Now, however, having grown into an Ancient Devil and possessing power that even Princes of the Demon World would be wary of, Liora had no reason to take such a risk.
Another, equally important reason why she hadn’t used it was that the Evolution System had been unable to keep up with her growth.
The System’s function had remained the same from the very start.
By using Evolution Points converted by devouring souls, Liora could create new abilities. Later, another function appeared, allowing her to upgrade the techniques she had developed herself.
Unfortunately, although these functions had once been very useful, they could no longer play the same role for Liora.
She had been able to speed up the flow of time within the Cosmic Sea for a while, giving her effectively infinite time to develop techniques and abilities on her own.
Then, using Profane Offering, she could bring those techniques and abilities to their peak.
Although Liora was obviously still far from reaching the level of the Evolution System, the results were practically the same.
A technique like the Primordial Sin Art would require more Evolution Points than she had been able to collect from her birth until now.
Yet Liora had been able to develop it on her own—even if only because of her future self’s help.
All in all, Liora had long stopped paying attention to the System’s functions. In her opinion, what was more important at the moment was its true form and what it represented.
Yet today, after such a long period of inaction, the System had appeared in front of her once more.
Not because she had summoned it, but of its own accord.

[True Name: Liora Veythalis Dranthera Vexira…]
[Rank: Ancient Devil (Other Shore)]
[Race: ???, Origin Sea Prototype, Will of the World]
[Throne: Dragon, Time, Space, Life, Death…]
…
The Panel was completely different from the last time she had taken a look at it.
Besides the changes in Rank and Race, the even more noticeable change was the disappearance of several columns.
Whether it was the Stats, the Techniques, the Abilities, or even the column displaying Liora’s Evolution Points and Soul Absorption Rate, they were nowhere to be seen.
A trace of surprise flashed in Liora’s eyes.
However, she quickly accepted these changes.
As mentioned before, the abilities and techniques had become useless to Liora long ago.
As for the Stats…
They had never been truly useful, much less now.
“With every advancement, a Devil’s reliance on physical strength and fundamental ‘stats’ becomes less significant.”
“Greater Devils already possess Indestructible Matter. Their Vitality is endless. Their physical strength is terrifying, and they are practically immortal.”
“Once one becomes an Archdevil, what is important is the concepts a Devil represents.”
This became even more obvious at the Ancient Devil stage.
Combined with authority over the power of time, battles had long ceased being about mere physical confrontations.
It was directly a fight between different concepts and Laws.
As for Princesses of the Demon World, it didn’t need any explanation. At that level, one could alter their physical condition with just a thought.
The physical body was merely a simple vessel.
Liora had countless thoughts.
After mulling over the disappearance of these columns for several seconds, her gaze moved below the System Panel.

A progress bar had unknowingly appeared there and was slowly moving at a snail’s pace.
Its appearance allowed Liora to roughly understand what was going on.
“Is the Evolution System about to transform?”
This was the natural conclusion Liora arrived at.
Moreover, when she recalled that the System had appeared just after she devoured the “Human Emperor’s” soul, that suspicion was strengthened even further.
She didn’t know whether devouring a Prince of the Demon World-level soul was what had caused the reaction, or whether it was because her Evolution Points had reached some unknown threshold that led to the upgrade.
Either way, it didn’t matter.
Liora looked at the progress bar and made an estimate based on its current progress.
If nothing went wrong, it would fill up in about five years.
This was a negligible amount of time for her.
She could afford to wait.
As for what the System’s “upgrade” would bring, Liora had absolutely no idea or guesses.
But since the upgrade had only occurred now, the transformation was bound to be significant.
Liora remained thoughtful for several minutes.
In the end, she dismissed the Panel, shifting her focus back to the present.
Part of her consciousness continued analyzing the “Human Emperor’s” memories.
For her, the life of a Prince of the Demon World-level being was extremely valuable, even if that person was not a Devil.
Whether it was his knowledge, insights, or even the world he lived in, they could all prove useful in the future.
While doing that, Liora did not waste her time.
Seated at the center of the Destruction Domain, she began analyzing the Destruction concept remaining here, studying the power of the Demon World and of the Tribulation.
At the same time, she casually waved her hand.
Demonic energy burst from her body and wrapped around the ruined worlds floating in the Origin Sea before dragging them toward her.
