Chapter 736: Reincarnation
Chapter 736: Reincarnation
Surprisingly, Liora focused on the more ordinary soul first.
She took a closer look at it, her expression strange.
Although it was currently only a fragmented soul, it was obvious that its owner had not been human while alive.
Instead, they were a monster—a monster that looked eerily similar to another being Liora had frequently interacted with in the past.
After observing this being for several seconds, Liora casually waved her hand.
She didn’t seem to use any demonic energy or any other power.
Yet a man landed in front of her out of nowhere.
At first, he was stunned, the Cosmic Energy in his body boiling as he prepared to defend himself.
Yet when his gaze swept across his surroundings and he noticed who stood in front of him, the man relaxed.
“Lord Liora,” he saluted respectfully.
“Mhm…” Liora nodded and pointed at the ordinary soul floating in her hand.
She didn’t waste any time and went straight to the topic.
“We made a deal in the past.”
“As long as you helped me and provided me with insights and knowledge about your Era’s power system, I would do my best to help you revive your sister.”
“Now, the time to fulfill my side of the deal has finally come.”
Elaouthr had already suspected it when he noticed the surrounding atmosphere.
But upon hearing Liora’s words and seeing the soul she was holding, he couldn’t help but be stunned.
It was true that he had made such an agreement with Liora.
Yet at the time, he had only done so out of necessity, choosing to take a gamble.
He didn’t believe that Liora could actually help him achieve his goal.
Fortunately, Elaouthr was a powerhouse. He had lived for a very long time and quickly regained his composure.
Recalling how Liora had refined the Cosmic Universe, he understood that it made sense she would be able to revive his sister.
Just as he was about to thank her, however, Liora suddenly interrupted him.
“You should know your current state better than me. Although you have survived until this Era, what remains is only a lingering obsession—a drive to revive your sister.”
“When that goal is achieved, and that obsession disappears, you will also disappear with it. The ‘artificial’ Elaouthr will awaken and replace you.”
With Liora’s control over the Cosmic Universe, she could peer into the past of everything.
With just a thought, she could know everything she wanted, whether it was the past, the present, or even the future.
As such, she had a deep understanding of Elaouthr’s situation.
Of course, the person who understood it even better was none other than Elaouthr himself.
He knew that Liora was telling the truth. The day his sister was revived would be the day he, this remnant obsession, died as well.
However, he didn’t seem to care.
He opened his mouth to speak.
“Back in my Era, the Cosmic Universe was far more brutal than it is now.”
“Everyone’s cultivation depended on devouring, all in an attempt to raise their bloodline and improve their strength.”
“Parents killed their children. Children killed their parents.”
“There was no concept of family or friends.”
Elaouthr’s gaze moved toward the soul.
“Although I call her my sister, we are not truly siblings. We simply belonged to the same tribe back then. It was with her help that I managed to reach my current height…”
Elaouthr narrated his story, his eyes fixed on the soul of his “sister.”
It was unknown whether he was telling these things to Liora or merely reminding himself of the past.
He spoke for a while. Liora did not interrupt him and simply listened attentively.
For a moment, the two seemed like friends reminiscing about their past.
Yet in Liora’s senses, the vitality of Elaouthr’s soul was constantly being drained away.
His obsession with reviving his sister was slowly disappearing.
A few minutes later, he smiled faintly.
Then, he collapsed to the ground, the ancient soul occupying his body dispersing.
His body moved mere moments later. The slumbering “Elaouthr” was showing signs of awakening.
However, Liora didn’t wait for him to wake up.
With a wave of her hand, she transferred him out of the Cosmic Sea and then back to the territory of the demon race.
The real Elaouthr’s story flashed through her mind.
“Who could have expected that a bloodthirsty demon would be so emotional?”
“Staying in this world and enduring countless calamities as an obsession, all to revive a single person.”
Liora shook her head.
She glanced at the ordinary soul in her hand and threw it into the River of Forgetfulness.
Then, she watched as the aura of death washed over it, wiping away its lingering emotions and memories. Slowly, it disappeared.
Once Hermes built Reincarnation and the Underworld’s construction was completed, the soul would be led to the Mortal Plane and reincarnate as a new individual.
She would not be the only one.
With that thought, Liora shifted her gaze toward the Hollow Ancestor.
Unlike the previous soul, his was different.
Not only was it far purer and higher in quality, but traces of power remained etched into its surface.
They did not stem from the Hollow Ancestor’s own power.
Instead, they possessed the form of black lightning, constantly striking at him and threatening to kill him completely.
Had it not been for Liora’s power holding it back, the Hollow Ancestor would have long since died.
After all, the two souls were in a different situation.
The soul of Elaouthr’s sister had died naturally.
On the other hand, the Hollow Ancestor had perished under the wrath of the Demon World.
Just to collect his soul fragments, Liora had exerted great effort.
As for wiping away the Demon World’s power?
She wasn’t planning to do so.
“We agreed that I would help you revive as long as you dealt with my enemies.”
“However, I didn’t say what form that revival would take…”
The moment Liora finished speaking, she threw the Hollow Ancestor’s soul into the River of Forgetfulness.
