Chapter 749: Creating a Demon Layer
Chapter 749: Creating a Demon Layer
The stream of light entered the ruined world, landing on the belly of a woman who had just gotten pregnant.
Then, the imprint immediately lost its memories, turning into a blank slate.
Nine months later, a cute baby was born.
—
The world Liora chose for her imprint to reincarnate in was quite similar to the Earth of her previous life, devoid of any supernatural powers and functioning as a technological civilization.
After being born, her imprint, possessing the name Liora again, began an ordinary life.
She went through school, entered college with excellent grades, and was about to graduate.
It was then that her fate suddenly changed.
Just as she was returning home one day, a crack appeared in space and swallowed her.
On the other side of the passage lay a secret realm.
It was only after entering it that the amnesiac imprint learned of the existence of the supernatural, obtaining what was supposedly the inheritance of an ancient powerhouse who was born before the world was shattered.
Primordial Sin Art—this was the technique she obtained from the inheritance, and she could absorb sins to get stronger and create Sin Avatars.
From then on, Liora started practicing this mysterious technique whenever she had time.
Although this world was ruined in an ancient war and lacked any type of extraordinary energy, the Primordial Sin Art did not have such stringent requirements.
All it required was sin.
As such, Liora made rapid progress.
Her Sin Avatars quickly grew stronger, feeding strength back to herself with every improvement.
While continuing her life as though she were an ordinary person, Liora continuously absorbed the sins of the people around her to strengthen herself.
She became the only supernatural being in this world!
Time slowly passed.
A few decades later, her parents died of old age.
Sitting at the hospital and looking at their elderly appearances and then down at her youthful body that had aged since she started practicing the mysterious technique, Liora finally felt the bitterness of immortality.
Her lifespan was extremely long. But the people around her were ordinary mortals.
When the people she had met while young and her many acquaintances died a few decades later, that feeling became even more intense.
Even so, these scenes did not change Liora’s mentality.
If anything, her obsession with becoming a powerhouse and shattering the shackles imposed upon her by this ruined world deepened.
She detached from the mortal world, constantly absorbing sins to pave her path to becoming stronger.
Time slowly passed.
In the blink of an eye, several centuries had gone by.
In this world, the tale of an immortal woman began to spread: a person who had lived for thousands of years and had witnessed ancient history.
Most people regarded it as nothing more than a fairy tale, used as a ghost story to scare children.
Only a few people, mainly the presidents of the major countries and the leaders of powerful forces, knew the truth.
For this, Liora did not care.
She had already realized something.
This ruined world could no longer provide her with enough sin.
If she wanted to become stronger, she had to leave.
And so she did.
Only a few months after she made her decision, she tore apart the membrane of the world and entered the Origin Sea.
Then…
She perished under the power of a passing spatial storm.
Her soul shattered into pieces, leaving behind only a wisp of her True Spirit, which was guided to the Demon World.
There, under its influence, Liora directly reincarnated as a Little Devil.
Standing atop the River of Time, Liora nodded in satisfaction before proceeding to awaken these imprints again.
Just like the ones before them, she didn’t let them change this “history” but let them continue to act normally.
Then, she let her consciousness return to the present.
The moment Liora landed on the present time node, alarm bells rang in her heart.
A terrifying destructive force emerged from within her, striking both her soul and physical body and threatening to annihilate her.
Even though she was an Ancient Devil, Liora’s face turned deathly pale, seemingly losing all its blood.
Her muscles twitched, and her eyes grew blank as though she were experiencing a stroke.
Fortunately, the destructive force soon retreated.
Silver runes flashed across her body, helping her recover.
Waking up, Liora breathed a sigh of relief.
“I didn’t expect the backlash from the River of Time to be so terrifying.”
“I only took action three times.”
“One was to have my imprint ‘born,’ one was to give myself the inheritance, and one was to create the spatial storm to kill it.”
“Even so, the backlash was enough to kill an Other Shore Devil. Even Antiquity Devils would be injured.”
Liora sighed.
Sure enough, she had to pay a price if she wanted to hide her tracks.
Fortunately, that price was nothing to her. With her strength and the Return to the Origin technique, she could easily withstand such a level of backlash.
At the same time, the benefits of changing the past and forging new history were not limited to concealing herself from her opponents.
Her strength had also improved.
Part of the reason was that her timeline had been extended, improving her fundamental power.
Another reason was that the power of One Across Eternity, which mainly relied on the overlapping power of her imprints, had increased as their number was raised.
However, the most important reason was the change in her identity.
With a thought, a crimson figure wearing several masks appeared behind her, exuding a momentum of sin and evil.
It was the overlapping form of all her Sin Avatars.
Gluttony. Lust. Wrath.
The moment the Sin Avatars appeared, their strength began to rise, as though they had received powerful nourishment.
In fact, that was exactly what had happened.
What they received was Liora’s practice of the Primordial Sin Art in her “previous life.”
The moment Liora returned to reality, that part of history had become real.
And since she possessed the memories of that life, she had obtained all the insights she had regarding this technique.
“Unfortunately, I was too weak in that life. Even at my peak, I could only contend with a weaker Archdevil.”
“If I had managed to become an Ancient Devil, or even go beyond that, the improvement would have been far more massive.”
Granted, Liora knew better than to be greedy.
This achievement was already good enough for now.
Everything else would have to wait until later.
…Or at the very least, until she obtained more Evolution Points.
At that thought, her eyes narrowed.
Her mind stirred, her consciousness descending from the River of Time and returning to the Demon World.
Standing between the 172nd and 174th Demon Layers, Liora knew that the time had come.
“As an Ancient Devil, and quite a powerful one at that, how can I not have my own Demon Layer?” Liora whispered softly.
There was something else she was wise enough not to say.
If she didn’t create a Demon Layer and offend a few people, how would she be able to kill them and reasonably obtain Evolution Points?
The instant she had that thought, Liora raised her head and looked at the Demon Layer above her.
A gleam flashed across her eyes.
She calmly raised her hand and reached out, her palm growing larger as though she were preparing to grasp it.
Building a Demon Layer required materials to serve as its foundation.
And what could possibly work better than ready-made Demon Layers?
As for the fact that these materials belonged to someone else?
Liora believed that they would not blame her for her actions.
They were bound to become neighbors soon. Shouldn’t neighbors help one another?
